Richard was the president and owner of the Pennsylvania Aluminum Window Company, a life member of the Pittsburgh Sportsman's Luncheon Club and Pike Run Country Club. GROSSE LISBETH “LIZ” Liz, age 96, passed away peacefully after a long illness on March 23, 2017. She is survived by Carmen Grosse Hoecker (Doug) and Roland Grosse (Deborah); two grandchildren, Marc Hoecker (Catherine) and Robin Hoecker (David); and two great- grandchildren, Henry Charles Hoecker and Amelia Jean Walle. Liz was born in Germany, became a US citizen in 1955 along with her husband, Rudolf Grosse (deceased after 57 years of marriage). They settled in White Plains, NY, and moved to Monroeville after retirement. Liz was an active member of the International Women's Club of Monroeville. She has donated her body to the PA Humanities Gifts Registry. The family will hold a private celebration of her life. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org). WASSERMAN HELEN Helen Wasserman, age 95, of Castle Shannon, passed away on March 24, 2017. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1921, to the late John and Sophia Malik. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Allen Wasserman; mother of Robert (Sally) Wasserman and H. Kathleen (Robert) Marcetti; grandmother of Lori, Paul, Noreen, Keith, and Kelly; great- grandmother of Tyler, Taylor, Addison, Olivia, and Chase; and sister of the late Mary, Josephine, Blanche, and Antoinette. ALLEN TROY D., Dr. On Friday, March 17, 2017, Dr. Troy D. Allen (56) moved up to the rank of ancestor. A native of McKeesport, PA, Dr. Allen was a History professor at Southern University and an adjunct professor at LSU in the Department of African American Studies. Dr. Allen was blessed with educational and life wisdom beyond his years. His passion for African American History and Egyptology touched the lives of so many. He leaves behind his wife, Lia White-Allen, whom he adored and was married to for 25 years. To their union, four children were born Saiid, Khephren, Akosua, and Djoser. He also leaves behind his mother Helen Allen; two brothers Jeffrey (Marion) Allen and Todd Swindle; and one sister Tiffany Swindle. MILLER HELEN ANTOINETTE Age 76, of Fredericksburg, passed away at Mary Washington Hospital on Friday, March, 24, 2017. Helen was born on August 23, 1940, to Russell Ingraham and Goldie Missouri (Thomas) Hunter. She married Charles Frederick Miller on May 6, 1972, making their home in Pittsburgh, PA until 1989 when they moved to the Fredericksburg area. Helen was working as a Quality Control Manager for J.G. Wentworth. Survivors include two sons: Rick Caporali (Linda) and David Caporali (Micah Stockman); two daughters, Celeste Guyan (Kevin), and Jennifer McCutcheon (Bruce); brother, Robert Hunter (Jean); sister, Bernadine Ziviello; sister-in-law, Sharon Miller Darabant; eleven grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; and her brother, Russell Hunter. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at LAUREL HILL FUNERAL HOME, Spotsylvania, with Funeral Mass being held on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Matthew Catholic Church, Spotsylvania, with Father Donald Rooney, officiating. MANNELLA FRANCIS A. Age 86, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2017, at Canterbury Hospice with family at his side. Fran was born on February 15, 1931,and was the son of the late Anthony F. and Marie (Falcone) Mannella. He is a graduate of Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, VA. He studied engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. Fran served in Europe as a radio operator in Army Intelligence during the Korean War. Upon returning from Europe, Francis joined his family's construction company, Frank Mannella and Sons, Inc., where he headed the company for many years with his grandfather, father, and uncles. He was involved in many industry organizations, including the Constructors' Association of Western Pennsylvania, where he was an officer and active for many years. Fran retired from Brayman Construction Co. of Gibsonia. He was also an avid golfer and active member of Edgewood Country Club. Fran is survived by his wife Mary Mannella; his sons, Michael (Laura) Mannella of Churchill, PA and Francis A., Jr. (Regina) Mannella,of Shrewsbury, MA; stepson Douglas (Sheri) Hight of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren Michael Mannella, Jr., Michelle Mannella, Nicholas Mannella, Nina Mannella, Logan and Parker Hight; beloved sister Donna (late Alan) Haines of Ligonier,PA, together with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Gloria (Mongiat) Mannella, and son Anthony J. Mannella, both of Pittsburgh. There will be no public visitation.
