STECKEL ISADORE "IZZY" Age 99, a native of Dunmore, PA died Wednesday in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. His wife, the former Miriam Mandel, died March 9, 2013. Born in Taylor, PA, he was the son of the late Jacob and Hannah Kruger Steckel. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a longtime devoted member of and currently serving in his 60th year as president of the Temple Israel Congregation of Dunmore which named its sanctuary in his honor. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed. Surviving are a daughter, Beth Zepel and husband, Dr. Richard, Greenville, South Carolina; a son, Dr. Alan Steckel and wife, Fern, Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Scott, Adam and Michael Steckel and his wife, Cari, and Tara and Lindsay Zepel and her husband, Josh; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday in Dunmore. BARBUSTIAK EMERICK “E.J.” Age 93, on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, of Carrick. Husband of the late Teresa K. (Menges) Barbustiak; beloved father of Jane (Mike) Skoglund of Davenport, IA, Kathy Barbustiak of Farmington Hills, MI and Mark Barbustiak of Atco, NJ; and several nieces and nephews; loving grandfather of Nicole and Chris Browett, Christy and Matt Skoglund. E.J. served in WWII with Navy Squadron VPB-151 in the Central Pacific, serving in over 60 patrol and bombing missions. Awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and three Air Medals in the campaigns from Tarawa, to Tinian, to Iwo Jima. Also served with VS-25 in the Korean War. E.J. was the second generation proprietor of Superior Fur Co. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephan P. and Julia A. (Kozak) Barbustiak; daughter, Nancy J. Barbustiak; and sister, Andrea J. WUNDROW KIMBERLY A. (MALES) Age 57, of Hampton Twp., passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016, in Jefferson Hospital. She was born in Pittsburgh to Ronald G. and Corinne (Bronder) Males. Kim was a homemaker, as well as an administrative assistant in NY and OH. She loved to work in her garden and was a wonderful cook. In earlier days, Kim enjoyed family vacations, horseback riding and boating at Lake Ontario and Conneaut Lake. She loved family pets and spoiling her beloved cats, Doolittle and Patsy (Cline). She is survived by her parents, Ronald and Corinne Males of Hampton Township; sister, Leslie (David Novak) Males; sister, Lori (Mark) Schneider; brother, Michael Males; sister, Karen (Francis) Benson; nieces, Melissa Males and Amanda Novak; great-nephew, Mikey Males; great-niece, Mia Males. She is also survived by an aunt, uncle and numerous cousins. Kim was preceded in death by her grandparents. Born in Columbus, OH, he is the son of Joan (Bowers) Whitehead of Wexford, PA and the late James Edward Whitehead. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathleen Glesner Whitehead; son, Michael J. Whitehead and wife, Kerry of Havre de Grace; daughter, Holly Kristine Stevenson and husband, Richard of Bel Air; grandchildren, Terner and Liam Whitehead and Ryan Stevenson; sisters, Candace Whitehead and Jill McGuirk both of Pittsburgh, PA, Lisa K. Stickley of Huntington Beach, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Whitehead had a successful career as a district sales manager for a building supply company and was a member of Mt. Ararat Lodge #44 A.F.&A.M. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, enjoyed model railroading, ancestry research and sports. RHEAM JEANNE A. On Thursday, February 18, 2016. Terribly missed beloved wife of Frederick R. “Ron”, mother of Kimberly A. and the late Linda S., mother-in-law of Gary Sapp, and grandmother of Ryan and Christopher (otherwise known as the loves of her life). She lived her life for family and was not only the most intelligent one in the family but also the feistiest. We will miss her cooking, quick wit, ability to fix anything, and her never ending love and support. She was an incredible woman who taught herself to play the piano, trouble-shoot computers and knit/sew like a pro. She will be remembered as Mom to all, as she was generous, protective, kind, and always willing to lend a hand or an ear. She was Mom to the children she brought home from the Odd Fellows Home and just about anyone else who needed one. She offered a special kind of wisdom and knowledge and never seemed to age.
