She was pleased and proud to volunteer for the annual Slovak Day at Kennywood by cooking Slovak foods, selling ads for the program book and also selling many admission tickets. Slovak Day was a family reunion day for Anna. Anna was also a member and an officer of Branch 13 of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.She rarely missed a FCSLA district meeting and she attended their conventions in many cities throughout the USA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Joseph, and we rejoice for their reunion. She is survived by her loving children, JoAnn Luster (Bob Kish), Jim Kilhof, Deb Costamagna (Jim), Joseph Kilhof (Mary), Mimi Bauer (John), Laurie Lansberry and Amy Bateman (Bob). She will also be missed greatly by her grandchildren, Andy and Matt Luster, Joe and Christopher Kilhof, Justin and Joel Costamagna, Mark, Shaunna and Alayne Lansberry, Kelly, Erika and April Bauer and Bobby, Mallory and Spencer Bateman, and their respective partners; and by her great- granddaughters, Kaydence and Kali Kilhof and Sophia and Lotus Luster. Jean was a founding member of the Mothers Plus Five and the St. Alexis Over 50 Club, and a member of the Marian Guild. Jean was also an avid swimmer. She was a lifeguard at Club Julian and taught all of her grandchildren to swim. She gave many years of service through her volunteer work for Together For Retarded Youth (TRY) and visited children through the Make-A-Wish Foundation as Giggles the Clown. MITCHELL LEONARD LAVERNE Age 92, formerly of Beaver Falls, PA, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Grand Court Assisted Living in Mesa, AZ. He was born February 7, 1924, in Rochester, PA, the son of the late John Earl and Stella S. (Pail) Mitchell. He was a graduate of the New Brighton High School (1941) and of Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, as a Cartographer with the US Strategic Bombing Survey Unit in the CINC PAC Adv. Hdqrs. Hawaii-Guam-Japan. His professional career spanned nearly 60 years including time with ING-Rich, American Bridge Co., Michael Baker, Jr., Joseph S. Bontempo Architects, and concluded as a registered Architect, Owner-Principle with the Wallover, Mitchell & Bontempo Architectural firm, Beaver Falls, PA. He was formerly a member of St. Monica Church. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Mitchell, (Mesa, AZ); a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. and Dale Elizabeth Mitchell, (N. Richland Hills, TX); and three grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion B. (Dwyer) Mitchell (2008); and three sons, Gregory V. Mitchell (1965), Leonard L. Mitchell, Jr. (1970), and Mark J. Mitchell (2012). KITNER WILLIAM BILL Age 76, of Mt. Lebanon, passed peacefully from this world on Monday, March 14, 2016. Bill is the loving son of the late William Kitner and Audrey Barrett. He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 35 years, Maureen O'Neill Kitner; as well as his aunts, Phyllis Kitner, June Cassidy; and dear cousin, Sally Trenski (Mike). Bill is the loving uncle of 13 nieces and nephews; and 21 great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Leo (Peggy), Kathleen, Jim (Nancy) O'Neill, Mary Ann (Mike) Fischer and Margie (Jim) McClure. In addition, Bill leaves a host of friends and relatives who loved him dearly; as well as his faithful companion and cat, Moe. Bill retired from 43 years of service at Duquesne Light Company in 2000 and was active in the retirement club of DL Local #29. Bill also enjoyed a long career as an athlete who excelled at many sports: softball, basketball and golf. He played softball for more than twenty years for Duquesne Light Electrical Workers and was a starter for several other teams, including Esplen and the Mount Washington Vets Club. In the words of his teammates, Bill was a phenomenal outfielder. Bill was an active member of the Mt. Washington Golf League and the Mount Lebanon retiree golf league. He was renowned as a gentlemen and a sportsman, and was an active member of the St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church.
