MAURIDES KALIOPE GEORGE KILIVEROS On April 23, 2015, at age 86. Survived by daughter Patricia Maurides (Chris Siefert) and most precious granddaughter, Elizabeth Maurides Siefert of Pittsburgh; and son, Andrew Maurides, Jr. of Greenville, SC; also survived by sister-in-law, Litsa Maurides; nephew, Dr. Peter Maurides; niece, Patricia Skenteris, all of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law, Kaliope Kiliveros; and nephew, George Kiliveros, both of Merced, CA; and niece, Katina Gartelos of San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Peter Maurides, a World War II veteran. Kaliope was born on April 21, 1929, the daughter of Katina Savvas Kiliveros and George Chris Kiliveros from the island of Skopelos, Greece. She received a BA in Education from Lenoir Rhyne University in 1951 and completed a MA in Special Education from Furman University in 1975. She was a dedicated teacher for forty years in South Carolina public schools and Shriner's Children's Hospital and was a fierce advocate for children and adults with special needs. She served as a dedicated volunteer for the Red Cross during the Vietnam War and was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Greenville, SC. A gifted artist, cookbook critic and animal lover, she loved to travel.
