HAUSSER DOUGLAS W. Age 66, at home in West View, on Saturday, August 17, 2013. He was the only child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur W. Hausser. A 1965 graduate of North Allegheny High School, Doug earned a degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University in 1969. He served and was honorably discharged from the US Army having been stationed at the Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and with a missile battalion in West Germany. Among other ventures, Doug held professional sales positions in the security systems and steel industries. Those who knew Doug all agree that he was perhaps the consummate sports fan. He was a veritable walking encyclopedia of statistics and player histories. In addition to the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, Doug avidly rooted for the Purdue Boilermakers and his hometown Detroit professional teams. In recent years, having moved back to the North Hills, he became an enthusiastic follower of the sports teams of his high school alma mater, attending many football and basketball games in both regular and post-season play. He brought his research and insight to those games and enriched the experience for those nearby. His presence will be missed as the interscholastic sports seasons begin anew. Friends wishing to remember Doug are encouraged to attend a brief memorial service to be held at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, West View (412-364-0510) on Thursday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. Send condolences at post-gazette.com/gb
