LESSER WILLIAM C. Age 91, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 at Ashton Creek Health and Rehab in Ft. Wayne. Born in Bronx Borough, N.Y. He was a member of Congregation Achduth Vesholom, Ft. Wayne, IN. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He held a Chemical Engineering degree from Brooklyn Polytechnic University, and a Professional Engineers license in N.Y. State. He worked for US Steel Corp. as an Engineering Project Manager in Pittsburgh, PA. He lived mostly in New York and Pittsburgh, PA and lastly in Ft. Wayne, IN. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Temple Emanuel of South Hills and its Men's Club, Pittsburgh, PA. A long time volunteer at the UPMC Computer Dept. He was a Duplicate Bridge Silver Life Master and loved to listen to classical music. Survivors include his son, Fred (Nancy) Lesser of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter, Ellen (David) McCormick of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Joshua, Simon, Nathan Lesser, Rachel (Scott) Darling of Minneapolis, MN; great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Caleb Darling; cousins, Barbara Lovitts of Baltimore, MD, Jane Lovitts of CA. O'TOOLE MARY LOUISE Age 85, of Boyers, PA, passed away peacefully at Country Meadows in Bridgeville, PA, Monday, August 19, 2013. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, July 3, 1928 to Lt. Raymond James O'Toole and Elizabeth Margaret Soffell O'Toole, she graduated from St. Mary's of the Mount in Mt. Washington, PA. She was a professional singer in the late 1940s through the 1970s, singing blues, dixie, and ballads. She played 46 Moose and other clubs and performed regularly at the Holiday-House in Monroeville, featured in the Horizon Room. She performed throughout the country and often in Cleveland, Erie, and Maryland and was called the “Modern Day Sophie Tucker.” She retired after 31 years as a cashier and bookkeeper for the A&P Tea Store. She was a member of St. Peters Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock, PA. Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Smith of Pittsburgh, PA; three brothers, Harry O'Toole of Pittsburgh, PA, Raymond James O'Toole of Boyers, PA, John G. She was born August 23, 1933 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late William Wallace and Adelaide Lanz Booth. Mrs. Jennings graduated from the Ethel Walker School, class of 1951, and from Vasser College, class of 1955, with a B.A. Earlier in life, she had been a teacher at the Buckley School in New York. She was a member of St. Michael's of the Valley in Rector, the Community Church of Vero Beach, the Rolling Rock Club, Oak Harbor and Ocean Reef. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Evan D. Jennings, II in 2006; and two brothers, William W. Booth, Jr. and James Y. Booth; she is survived by two children, William B. (Sally) Van Ingen of Mill Valley, CA and Harriet V. (Howard) Love of Hillsborough, CA; three stepchildren, Christina Jennings of Napa, CA, Angelou Jennings of Ojai, CA, and Mark Jennings of Longmont, CO; five grandchildren, three step- grandchildren, and three step- great-grandchildren. She loved her dogs and her garden. She enjoyed tennis, golf, and skiing, was a talented artist, and an excellent bridge player.
