BARRY A. STECKEL Age 59, of West Deer Twp., formerly of Hampton, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020. He was born Sunday, May 21, 1961, in Pittsburgh, a son of Joseph and Jean (Macioce) Steckel. Barry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anthony and Rose Macioce. Barry was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Glenshaw, PA. He was a proud Graduate of Duquesne University, Class of 1984, where he received a Baseball Scholarship. Barry worked in marketing for several different magazine publications including, Hearse Publications, Comag Marketing Group (CMG), and TV Guide. He was an avid sports fan and held season tickets for Duquesne Men's Basketball and The Pittsburgh Penguins. He loved to tour sport stadiums, travel, and explore along the way. In addition to his parents, Barry is survived by his wife, Kelly (Keller) Steckel; their daughter, Mia; his brother, Bruce Steckel (Kate), and their son, David; his brother, Brian Steckel (Andrea), and their children, Ashley, Bradley, Brett (Elyse); his sister-in-law, Kim Brennan (Al), and her daughter, Cassidy; and his best friend and companion, Benji, his morkie. Born in Sewickley on August 27, 1984, Nathan made his home on Neville Island and was a hard-working roofer for Local Union #37. Nathan was a true outdoorsman at heart who loved boating, fishing, hunting, and all outdoor activities. One of Nathan's passions was fishing in the river. He also loved hosting family and friends on the Crownline. Nathan was a great boat captain, his father taught him well to navigate and respect the river. He always found much happiness and peace on the river. Nathan also loved taking long road trips to new destinations. Nathan will be missed every day by his father, James R. He was the loving Gramps to Marisa and Abigail Sharp. Marty had a long and varied work history. He worked for several years at Westinghouse Electric, co-owned P&S and J-Mart Auto Sales, and served as a Pennsylvania State Constable for many years. Marty was most proud of his career in the United States Navy. After returning to active duty in 1986, Marty retired after reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer. As a lifetime Shamrock, it was Marty's honor to serve as an East Pittsburgh Councilman. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #5008 and the American Legion. JEANE MORTON TAYLOR On August 10, Jeane Taylor of Mooresville, North Carolina, formerly of Pittsburgh, died at age 95. Jeane grew up on Mt. Washington where she loved to roller skate to the library. After graduating from South Hills High School, Jeane went to work at Equitable Gas. At the end of WWII, she married Robert Taylor and they eventually bought a home in Castle Shannon where they lived for 63 years. Jeane finished her working career with Proctor & Gamble. Jeane was a wordsmith. She loved puzzles of all kinds, she wrote a comic strip for her family poking fun at her own foibles, wrote special recollections of her time growing up during the Depression and wrote countless poems both sentimental and humorous. Primarily, though, Jeane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister-in-law. Jeane was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Morton and Magdalena (Maeder) Morton, and her husband of 71 years, Robert D. Taylor, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Michael) Dodge, and her son, Robert E. (Martha) Taylor; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Radke and the late Walter M. and Eunice C. Curtis; treasured brother of W. Carl Radke. Born in Munster, Indiana, Curtis graduated from Upper St. Clair high school and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Curtis was an exceptional baseball player from a young age and took great joy in playing. He was an enthusiastic, talented gardener who loved and relished making things grow. He was a skilled and hard-working mason and bricklayer. Curtis was an avid festival-music fan of The Grateful Dead and Phish, and frequented many of their shows. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his precious children, who were the center of his world. Curtis was a kind, gentle, and trusting soul who was a friend to many and loved by all. He touched many lives, and he will be forever missed. Violet was a trailblazer and a trendsetter whether as a highly requested special education teacher without a college degree, receiving a Master's degree without a Bachelors degree or during her illustrious career as an investigator with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Violet was devoted to volunteering in both the Jewish and civic communities, especially her beloved Rodef Shalom Congregation which bestowed on her many honors for her years of dedicated service. She was a JAA Eight Over Eighty honoree, Israel Bonds Chai Tea honoree and was honored by Ladies Hospital Aide Society. In addition, she was honored as an outstanding alumna of Pitt's Graduate School of Public & International Affairs. Violet is survived by her sons, Harold and wife, Maureen, and Chuck and wife, Ilene; and daughter-in-law, Nancy. She was the adored Grandma Vi to Josh Marcus and Amy and Kevin Segal. Her favorite title was Gigi to the love of her life, her great-granddaughter, Morgan. ARTURO V. MASCILLI, SR. Age 90, of O'Hara Twp., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. Beloved husband of Florinda I. (Marasco) Mascilli; loving father of Arthur (Lisa) Mascilli, Anthony (Lindsay) Mascilli, and Alexia (Joseph) Zgurzynski; cherished grandfather of Arthur III, Michael, Annabella, Andrew, Nicholas, Joseph, Luca, Peter, Nico and Veronica; brother of the late Antonio Mascilli, Emide Cipriani and Adia Pasciuti; brother-in-law of Domenic Marasco, Sr. and Naomi Guittilla. Arturo was a treasure to his family. He came to America as a teen, a World War II Refugee, and went on to serve in the US Army Corp of Engineers in both the Construction and Combat Engineer Battalions. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and fought in the Battle of Bloody Ridge receiving the combat decoration of The Purple Heart. He was a Plumber by Trade and founded East End Plumbing & Mechanical, Inc. in 1957 which is run to this day by his Wife and Sons. His family and his grandchildren were his greatest joy. He was a man of abiding faith and we rest in comfort knowing he is now in Heaven, face to face, with our risen Savior Jesus Christ. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, honesty and integrity and love and devotion to family and friends.
