JANE GUZIK Age 97, a longtime resident of Groveton and Neville Island, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospice House. Born on Neville Island on January 27, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Carolina (Filipczak) Guzik and sister of the late Helen (Guzik) Moore, Josephine (Guzik) Fisher, Agnes (Guzik) Alexander, Frank Guzik and John (Guzik) Guard. She was the well-loved and cherished aunt to Barbara (Alexander) Blumling, Carol (Alexander) Hayman (Carl), Raymond Alexander (Melissa), and a great legacy of numerous loving great-nieces, great-nephews. Jane worked and retired from Montour Railroad. For many years, she was a member of “Better Than Ever Independents, Inc.” and the “Sassy Senior Dancers” who entertained for organizations like nursing homes, banquets, parties etc. Visitation Wednesday, February 12 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. where prayers will be recited at 12 p.m. followed by Mass at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Church. FRANK ANDREW BAUMANN, JR. On February 7, 2020, Frank Andrew Baumann, Jr., 94, of Bridgeville (formerly of McCandless Township), beloved husband of 71 years to the late Wilma L. Baumann, passed away peacefully. Survived by his loving children, Cynthia Ann ( David) Kinney of Ocala, FL, Patricia Lynn (Marty) Evans, of The Villages, FL and Donald (Janis) Baumann, of Upper St. Clair; brother, Glenn Baumann of Sun City Center, FL and the late Charles Baumann of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Frank was a devoted husband and loving father. He was a Navy veteran, a graduate of Yale University, a retiree from US Steel, and an avid golfer. WHITTEN EAST LITTLE Age 87, of Beaver, PA (formerly of Bethel Park, PA) passed away on Friday, February 8, 2020 surrounded by his family. Born August 25, 1933 in Asheville, North Carolina, he was the son of Joseph W. and Lula East Little. He was a veteran of the US Army Reserves and was a Church Elder at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara H. Little. Surviving Whitten is his son, Whitten E. (Kim) Little, Jr, Beaver PA; and two daughters, Joanne (Rick) Guth, Slatington, PA; Dianne Little, Harrisburg, PA; ten grandchildren, Naomi Rachel Guth, Rebecca (Mike Metzler) Guth-Metzler, Nathan Guth, D. Dalton Haney, Devin Haney, Drew Haney, Jennifer Little, Whittney Little, Kinnsey Little, Richard (Jenny) Grivas; four great-grandchildren, Moses (Moshe) Guth, Ester Guth, Easton Haney, and Cora Grivas, and two brothers, Joseph W. He was born on December 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Helen and Clarence Recker. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Jane Recker; loving father of Amy (Rich) Papp and Michael (Maria) Recker; cherished grandfather of Jordan, Olivia, and Brandon; dear brother of Thomas (Gloria) Recker, David (Lane) Recker, the late William (Evelyn (surviving) Recker, Marilyn (Richard) Nye, and Phyllis (Paul) Wirant; also survived by many nieces and nephews. SISTER GERALDINE ANN KASPER, OSF Sister Geraldine Ann, formerly Sister Hyacinth, a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis, United States Province, died on February 9, 2020, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She was 82 and in her 64th year of Religious Profession. Sister entered the community from St. Mark Parish in McKees Rocks, PA, in 1955 and professed her first vows in 1956 at Mount Assisi Convent Chapel in Pittsburgh, PA. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Mount Mercy College (Carlow University) in Pittsburgh and a master's degree in theological studies from the Oblate College of the Southwest (Oblate School of Theology) in San Antonio, Texas. Sister Geraldine Ann taught the elementary grades in various schools in Pennsylvania and Texas and at St. Francis Academy high school in San Antonio. Sister also was involved in parish ministry as a director of religious education in Pennsylvania. Her last years were spent as a faithful participant in prayer ministry at Mt. Assisi Place. Sister was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna (Golitka) Kasper. She is survived by her religious community; her brother, John; sister, Carol Pachuta; and many nieces and nephews. A prayer service with the cremated remains will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2020, in Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Mt. Assisi Place in Pittsburgh, PA. GEORGE U. "BUD" PAULDING III 7/21/40 - 2/5/20 Bud Paulding, 79, of Pittsburgh, passed away from cancer on February 5, 2020. He was born in Philadelphia to the late George Paulding, Jr. and Elsie Menz, and was preceded in death by his beloved brother, David. Bud received his master's degree in English Literature from Purdue University, and remained a lifelong appreciator of language and literature. He spent two years as an English teacher in Kenya with the Peace Corps, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, and visited 15 countries. He worked in computer software, as an editor, and skillfully and artistically painted houses for many decades. He was a Cub and Boy Scout leader and softball coach, and an involved and encouraging father. He drew deep peace and inspiration from the natural world. He was a passionate lover and explorer of music, with broad tastes that spanned Dixieland jazz, world music, African pop, prog rock, and many more. He was very proud of his time as a DJ at WYEP 91.3 FM. He was deeply spiritual and devoted years of study to astrology. Bud was the kindest person that many people knew and his life was rich in love, both given and received. He described himself as someone who "sees value in everyone," and his gentle, friendly, affectionate, and good-humored presence will be dearly missed. He is survived by his ex-wife and close friend, Cindy Paulding; daughter, Alyia (Bethany); son, Devin; his nephew, Travis (Jessica) of St. Simon's Island, GA; and great-nieces, Gracie and Andie Paulding; as well as too many loving friends to count. EUGENE ROSNER Age 93, of Greenfield, passed away in his home Monday, February 10, 2020. Beloved husband of 70 years to Irene, father of Candi (Stuart) Shapiro of Oil City; grandfather of Justin and Robert of Pittsburgh and Brandon of Washington, D.C.; uncle of Steven, Gabriel, and Richard Beckmann of Arizona. His family would like to thank Theresa Germany for the care and compassion she provided as his caregiver. Eugene always told acquaintances that he graduated from the School of Hard Knocks, a polite way of saying he was a Holocaust survivor. Born in Bixad, Romania in 1926, he was liberated from Auschwitz in 1945, emigrated to the United States in 1946, married fellow survivor Irene in 1950, moved into his Greenfield home in 1952, and lived there for the rest of his life. He established and ran Gene's Food Market in South Oakland at Kennett Square and Ophelia Street from 1949-1975. JOSEPH HAREZA Born February 8, 1929, age 91, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 9, 2020. Joe was the beloved husband of Rita Mae (Kumpf) Hareza for 65 years. Loving father of Joe (Suzy), Rick (Colette), Tammy (Charlie Curti), Mike (Darla); amazing grandfather of Liz (Drew) Brittle, Lauren (Sam) Edwards, Drew, Jack, Ashley Haffley (Taylor Gasbarra); devoted great-grandfather of Cecelia, Levi, and Lilliana. Joe was born the son of Frank and Mary Hareza, the youngest son of 15 children. Surviving him are his two sisters, Cookie D'Orazio, Helen Fedenko; sister-in-law Dolly Hareza; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lynsey Haffley. Joe was a longtime member of the Carpenter's Union #432. Using his talents to build hobby horses, cradles, and doll houses for his grandchildren and houses and remodeling for his children. He and his wife traveled throughout all 50 states, Europe 3 times, and spent 21 years wintering in Arizona. He celebrated his later years with a family cruise around the Hawaiian Islands, and a 90th birthday celebration complete with a live band and all family members in attendance in Arizona.
