A daughter of the late Louis and Josephine Hudy; wife of the late James Pavlot; beloved mother of Cindy (Jim) Flynn, Susan (Chris) Eby and Michael (Kelly) Pavlot; adored grandmother of Sarah, Emily and Seth Eby, Olivia and Alexandra Flynn and Morgan Pavlot; and also many nieces and nephews. A pillar of strength for her entire family, Pat's generosity extended beyond her family to many charities in the Pittsburgh area. She was a successful business owner of Pat's Pizza and later a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service. An avid reader, Pat also enjoyed gardening and a good steak dinner. There will be no visitation. MEZYNSKI ELINOR P. Elinor, 87, of McDonald, North Fayette Twp., passed away on November 24, 2017 at Victoria Manor, Oakdale. She was born February 5, 1930 in Cecil, the daughter of the late John and Elsie (Bourguignon) Main. Elinor was preceded in death by her beloved husband on December 4, 2012, Frank S. “Humby” Mezynski, whom she married on June 1, 1954. She is survived by her children, James (Gail) Mezynski of Upper St. Clair, Larry (Carol) Mezynski and Susan (Jeffery) Loden of McDonald; also surviving is a grandson, Steven (Samantha) Mezynski; and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Jon David (Jean) Main of Oklahoma; and aunt, Germaine (Steve) Leukulich of St. Petersburg, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Also deceased is a brother, Robert Main. Elinor was a member of St. Alphonsus R.C. Church in McDonald. Prior to becoming a home maker, she had worked at the G.C. Murphy Co. 5 & 10 in McDonald, PA. RIVERS PHILIP ETHAN Age 77, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 following a sudden brain aneurysm. Born in Columbus, OH and raised near Greensburg, PA, Philip spent much of his early career as a safety engineer. His children will recall bikes with flags, driving the speed limit, and always walking on the left side of the road. His passion as an educator led him to become a professor of Safety Sciences at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a position he held for nearly three decades. As a professor at IUP he was a pioneer in active learning techniques and taught many undergraduate and graduate students who considered him a mentor, earning him an award for excellence in teaching. Philip enjoyed spending time with his family, meditating, gardening, cooking vegetarian meals, reading, writing, learning, and teaching. He was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity, board member of the Sandy Weymouth Foundation and attended the Unitarian Universalist Church in Indiana, PA, and the Pittsburgh Buddhist Center. His friends and family will remember him as an authentic, gentle, and kind-hearted person, always willing to listen to and be supportive of others. Philip expressed love and praise for his family and friends openly. His calm and reassuring presence will be missed. Philip is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Regina Rivers (Opilo); his sister, Lynda Nelson; his brother, Alan Chekanski; his children, Nathaniel Stuyvesant (Leta Koontz), Lora Ferguson (Dre Arnold) and Caylan Neil (Matt); his stepdaughters, Zandra Bishop (Bill) and Amanda Myers (Gerald Waytashek, fiance); and his grandchildren, Basyl Stuyvesant, Ashley Glasser, Madison Myers, Liam Bishop, Abigail Myers, Isaac Myers, and Xander Bishop. GENTER MARLENE (DRAXINGER) Age 85, of Shaler Twp., passed away peacefully Friday morning, Nov. 24, 2017, with her children by her side. Wife of the late James G. Genter, Sr. for over 50 years; mother of James G. (Denise) Genter, Jr. and Kathy (Gary) Machiko; sister of the late Shirley Mutschler; grandmother of Grant, Matthew, and Morgan. Marlene graduated from Millvale High School in 1950 and continued on to St. Francis Nursing School where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. She loved working as a nurse night turn at the VA Hospital while raising her two children. In retirement she was fortunate to have spent many of her years in South Florida with her late husband, Jim. She was an active member and volunteered regularly at the Pittsburgh North Senior Center. She was a marvelous wife, mother, and grandmother and her family was truly blessed by her love and selflessness. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Associates in Sarver. He was a member of Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church in Glade Mills and the Holy Sepulcher Knights of Columbus Council #10175. Surviving are his wife, Marlane J. (Bauer) Docherty, whom he married on June 18, 1952; his children, Kelly Jude, of Sarver, Rick (Diane), of North Hills, Scott (Amy), of Valencia and Casey (Nicole), of Gibsonia; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brothers, John and James, of Hilton Head, NC, and David and Donald, of Charlotte, NC. He was preceded in death by his brother, Miles. (Martha) McElhattan and Elaine L. (the late Dr. Thomas) Bonoma; loving grandfather of Justin, Josh, Erin, Tom, Matthew, Jonathan, and Benjamin; great-grandfather of fourteen; brother of Dr. Glenn R. McMAHON TEDMAN (RAPP) A dental student, singer, actor, of Buffalo, NY, died unexpectedly at the age of 36 on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Tedman is survived by his mother, Valerie Rapp; his husband, Cory McMahon; sister, Johanna Redmond; brother, Benjamin Rapp; brother Gregory and sister-in-law, Nadia Rapp; sister, Autumn and brother-in-law, John Magnone; two nieces and a nephew who adored him. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Rapp. Tedman was born in Pittsburgh on September 15, 1981. He is a 2001 graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York, NY where he followed his passion to become a musical theatre performer. Later in life he decided to change his life goal to pursue a career in the biological sciences. He is a 2014 graduate of the City College of New York. Upon death he was working on pursuing his goal and passion for dentistry at the University at Buffalo. Tedman was a member of the class of 2019. Tedman was a lover of life. He was fortunate to travel around the world. He had such a passion for meeting people and building friendships. His infectious smile and laugh would brighten up any room. He had a unique quality of making anyone he interacted with feel truly special. He will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all that were fortunate enough to have known him.
