HAMILTON CHARLES B. On Wednesday, November 22, 2017, age 88, of Harmony, formerly of Pittsburgh. Father of Lisa Hamilton Disney (Ross) of Midlothian, VA, and Susan Anne Hamilton of Ann Arbor, MI; stepfather of David Gaus of Sunnyvale, CA; brother of the late George Hamilton and his twin sister, Marjorie Hamilton. Charles graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in 1948 and Kiskee High School in 1949. He continued his education at Dickinson College in Carlisle in 1953 and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi and was a Raven's Claw Member. He worked in sales for Standard Oil of America and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been a member of St. Thomas in the Fields Episcopal Church in Gibsonia. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg. Memorials may be made to The Grove at Harmony, 191 Evergreen Mill Rd., Harmony, PA 16037. Julia was born in Limestone, NY, on August 24, 1910, and raised in Czechoslovakia. Beloved wife of the late Bill Merriman; loving mother of Bill (Penelope) Merriman and the late Jesse Gasper, Mary Ann Nassan, and Margaret Stoven; grandmother of Carrie-Ann, Bill (Michelle), Megan, Eric (Robin), Dustin, and Josie Merriman, Debbie (Wes) Gunter, Darcie (Dan) Flight, Denise Roy, David (Patricia) and Patrick (Suzanne) Kline, Brian Clark, DJ (Stacy) Gropelli, Jesse (Linda) and Stephen (Sonja) Wagner, Christopher (Kristen), Allen (Megan) and Adam (Penny) Gasper, and the late Kevin Kline; twenty nine great-grandchildren; nineteen great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; sister of the late John, Anne, and Agnes Gergel; daughter of the late John and Mary Gergel. Julia, also known as Baba, enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, dancing, singing, bingo, and spending time with her family. She had a beautiful smile that could light up a room. Sister was a native of McKeesport, PA, and was the daughter of the late Josephine (Wisniewski) and Thomas Halaszynski. Sister Jude was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, William, Joseph, John, James, Thomas, and Adam; her sisters, Eleanor Metz and Mary Barnes. She is survived by her sister, Joan Burgos; her brothers, Dennis and Earl; along with more than 50 nieces and nephews; and some 1300 Felician Sisters worldwide. LYNCH JEAN “LaRUE” Passed away at Paramount Senior Living in McMurray, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the age of 89. LaRue is preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” W. Lynch; and her parents Phillip and Leona Brandt. LaRue is lovingly remembered by her four children, Cindy Lynch Burrows (Richard) of New Bern, NC, John W. Lynch (Debbie) of Sewickley, PA, Sandy Lynch (George) of Boynton Beach, Florida and Glenn P. Lynch (Nicole) of Venetia, PA; and her two grandchildren, Spencer and Alexis, who were the light of her life. LaRue is also survived by her only sister, Marlis Brandt Kiser (Robert); and niece and nephew, Molly Kiser Marrah and Chris W. Kiser. LaRue was a Pittsburgh native and loved watching her favorite teams the Steelers and the Penguins. LaRue worked many years as the Payroll Department Supervisor at Duquesne University as well as helping her husband launch his very successful business, ECSI (Educational Computer Systems Incorporated). LaRue loved to sew, do puzzles, and of course spend time with her grandchildren. In honoring LaRue's request there will not be a service or visitation. MURACCA FRANCIS “FRANK” A. Just shy of his 99th birthday, Frank was called to heaven quietly and peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2017. He enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends bearing a smile. He is survived by his daughter, Michele Clemens, and son, Fran Muracca (Cristina Silva). He cherished his grandchildren, Michael, Eric, Christopher, and Alexandra. He is also survived by his sister, Dolores Warwick (Jack); and numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his sisters, Mary Matiyak (Andrew) and Phyllis Maiorana (Jerry). Frank was born and raised in Rankin, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1940 and it's Law School in 1942, completing his law degree in two years. Frank entered the Army as an enlisted man in November 1942 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on November 17, 1943, two days after being admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar. His tour of duty was confined to the European Theater in the Seine Section (Paris) and later in the Delta Base Section (Marseilles). Frank attended the University of Paris where he studied Japanese as he prepared to enter World War II. He was discharged from the Army as a Captain. He was in private legal practice and served as an Arbitrator well into his 80s. In 2003, Frank was honored by the Allegheny County Bar Association for his sixty years of practice of law. He was a lifelong member of Churchill Country Club and an avid card player. Friends will be received at JOHN A. WALTON EDWINA F. (MANCE) Age 79, of Pitcairn, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017 in her home. Edwina was born on August 18, 1938 in Turtle Creek the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Duncan) Mance. Edwina was a LPN, and while in school she was the oldest person and she graduated as valedictorian. She then retired from Chin's Polynesian Garden/Moy's Cove after 32 years of service. She was a loving, caring and hardworking wife, mom and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Dale Walton in 2013; and her son, Richard J. Walton in 2009. Edwina is survived by her daughters, Debra L. Prosser (Bob) and Edwina D. Nguyen (Chac); her grandchildren, Bobby and Jesse Prosser, Ashley and Shawn Nguyen, Alexis and Marissa Walton; her great-grandchildren, Tiara Nguyen, Aleeyah Green and Cameron Nichols; her sister, Betty Jo Shellhammer (Tom); and numerous nieces and nephews. BERNHART SR. THERESA, CDP Age 96, of McCandless Township, died Friday, November 24, 2017, in the 79th year of her religious life as a Sister of Divine Providence. The daughter of Lawrence and Emma (Miller) Bernhart. Sister Theresa entered the Congregation from St. Alphonsus Parish in Wheeling, WV. Sister Theresa ministered in both elementary and secondary schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, as well as in Catholic Schools in Ohio, Michigan and Puerto Rico. In Puerto Rico, where she served for almost 20 years, she was also Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Arecibo. Later, Sister was on the Staff of the Sisters' Generalate in Rome, the Day Care at St. Anne's in Castle Shannon, and in prayer and ministry of service. Sister Theresa earned her Bachelor's degree in education from Duquesne University, and her Master's degree in Latin from Notre Dame. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, William, Bernard, Lawrence, Joseph and Genevieve Bernhart, Mary E. Matzke and Virginia Schmitt. Sister Theresa is survived by nieces and nephews; and the Associates and Sisters of Divine Providence. Born on July 18, 1936 he was the son of the late Stephen Gorney and Helen Gorney-Churchill; brother to the late Stephen and Charles "Jim" Gorney. Raymond was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Frances, in 2016; and survived by his two children, Raeann Bieistel and Leonard R. Gorney; two grandchildren, Mia and Miranda; and four great-grand children, Logan, Ayden, Emma Lynn and Adalynn. She was a daughter of Dennis and Cathy (Bitting) Sapos. She was formerly a cashier at Giant Eagle in Edgewood Town Center and currently a Sales Associate at Macy's in the Men's Department. She was a member of the East Suburban Community Church in North Versailles and attended Studio G Dance Studio. Besides her parents, surviving her is her brothers and sisters, Michael (Adriana) Sapos, of CA, Rebecca Chatman, of Washington, PA, Sara (Jake) Sites, of Venetia, PA, Shaun (Erin) Leet, of Braddock Hills, and Ryan (Milan) Sapos, of North Versailles; girlfriend of Adam Cabon, of Elizabeth; granddaughter of William (late Sandra) Bitting, of Liverpool, PA; also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
