HALUSCHAK MICHAEL MICKEY 74, of Charleroi, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014, in the Donnell House, Washington, PA. He was born November 13, 1939 in North Charleroi, the son of the late Harry and Mary Woytovich Haluschak. Mickey was a graduate of Charleroi High School in the class of 1959. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era. He retired from US Airways as a aircraft mechanic. Mickey was a member of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Charleroi, Roscoe American Legion, Charleroi Belgium Club and the North Charleroi Slavic Citizen Club. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Barwick of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter, Haley Banks; two sisters, Dolly Leach of Monongahela, Mitzi Maksemetz of North Charleroi; his companion, Fran Arrigo Anderson of Charleroi; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Mickey was preceded in death by his son, Michael Haluschak; two daughters, Laura Banks and Crystal Haluschak; two sisters, Florence Sowden, Julia Cook; four brothers, Sam Haluschak, Ted Haluschak, John Haluschak, and Nick Haluschak. PAPUGA JOHN P. Age 84, born May 5, 1929, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2014 with his wife and daughter by his side. He was the 11th of 12 children born to George and Mary (Janitor) Papuga of Jane Street, Southside. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Kay Saunders Papuga; his daughter, Linda Lee (Trevor) Hershey; and grandchildren, Jack, Samuel, and Ellie Hershey. He was preceded in death by his son, John Papuga, II; he is also survived by two sisters, Matilda Larson and Parthenia Papuga; one brother-in-law, James C. Stavros; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are siblings, Mary Bennet, Martha Stavros, Emory, George, and Joseph Papuga, Elizabeth Rodgers, Hildegarde Papuga, Clara McDonnell, and Margo Papuga. He was a graduate of South High School and Rice University. Serving nine years in the U.S. Navy, John was honorably discharged, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. After serving in the Navy, he graduated from University of Pittsburgh Law School. John was a partner with the law firm Tucker Arensburg and practiced law for 50 years. An active member of Stewart Avenue Lutheran Church, John served in various capacities as a food pantry worker, church council member, and Sunday School teacher. An avid scholar, gardener, history buff, and athlete, he participated in baseball, basketball, football, skiing, softball, swimming, and long distance bike riding, completing three TOSRVs. As a master cruciverbalist, he completed the New York Times Crossword Puzzle in INK almost daily. John's humor, compassion, and generosity will be remembered and missed by all. (Brown) Slagle. He was a WW II Navy veteran and served as an aviation radioman on the island of Attu in the Aleutian Islands. He graduated from the University of Pittsburg with both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Science and had a distinguished career working for the Calgon/Merck Corporations. Upon retirement, Chuck enjoyed living in Florida and often shared many fond memories of family who had enjoyed visiting. He is survived by loving wife, Greta J.
