AMOS HAROLD R. Age 89, of Scott Twp., formerly of Mt. Lebanon, suddenly on Saturday evening, January 4, 2014. Born January 2, 1925 in Fairmont, WV, he was the son of the late G. Merle and Edith Frey Amos; beloved husband for 57 years of Yvonne Bonnie Richards Amos; loving father of Harold R. Chip Amos, Jr. and his wife, Lori and Timothy Richard Tim Amos and his wife, Lisa; brother of the late George M. Amos, Jr. (Betty). Harold attended West Fairmont High School and graduated from Greenbriar Military Academy. He is a graduate of West Virginia University and was a member of Delta Tau Delta. He served with distinction in the US Army Air Corps in the Pacific during World War II and was the recipient of four Bronze Stars. Harold started a career with Consolidation Coal Company now called Consol Energy, retiring at the position of assistant to the comptroller in 1988 after 45 years. Harold and Bonnie were long-time residents of Mt. Lebanon and the very first residents of Providence Point in Scott Township. He was an active member of Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church where he was an usher and participated in many financial committees. He was also active for many years in the Lions Club. YOUNGUE DR. ELIZABETH (NORTH) Wife of the late Dr. Eugene Lloyd Youngue, Jr., Neuro Psychiatrist and native of Charleston, SC, passed away on January 3, 2014. She moved to Pittsburgh from St. Louis, MO in 1950 with her husband. She was employed in the Pittsburgh Public School System as a music teacher, activities director, administrator, and taught vocal music at the Center for the Musically Talented. At retirement, she worked at Duquesne University as supervisor of teacher training, and ended her teaching career at Penn St. University where she taught Teacher Education and served as Supervisor of Teacher Training. Dr. Youngue graduated from Avery Institute, a private high school in Charleston, SC, received her Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from West Virginia State College in Institute, WV, her Masters of Arts in Music from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI and her Ph.D. in Education Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. Musically, Dr. Youngue was very active, having performed in Chatham College Opera Workshops, as alto soloist in the Calvary Episcopal Church choir in Shadyside and Church of the Redeemer in Squirrel Hill, and enjoyed solo appearances with the Bach Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra and on college campuses and on various venues throughout the United States. Dr. Youngue's organizational affiliations included the Pittsburgh Chapter of The Links, Inc., a national organization where she held many offices at the local and national levels, including president of the local chapter. She was a member of the Northeasterners, a social organization having chapters primarily in the United States. She was initiated into the Nu Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority chapter, and served as a member for over 70 years. She served on the Board of Health, Education and Welfare, the Pittsburgh Ballet, the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, Chatham Baroque and was a member of the Tuesday Musical Club, as well as Just Us, and Lamps Bridge Clubs. She leaves to grieve a son, Dr. Eugene L. Youngue III; daughter, Sharon L. Youngue, J.D.; and granddaughter, Erin L. Youngue. SONNET PATRICIA A. 62, of Franklin, PA, passed away on January 3, 2014, surrounded by her family at her beloved home on Buttermilk Hill, after a valiant fight against pancreatic cancer. Born August 1, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Thomas D. and Mary Grace Milton Lynch. Patty was a graduate of North Hills High School, Penn State University, and the University of Northern Colorado, where she received her Master's degree in education and library science. In 1972, Patty married the love of her life and constant companion for over 42 years, Richard A. Sonnet. Patty was an adventurer and outdoor enthusiast. She and her husband lived in Colorado and Wyoming where they skied and backpacked, fishing the streams and lakes of the Rocky Mountains. She climbed Devil's Tower, and once skied out of the back-country with a broken clavicle. She and her husband bike packed the Hawaiian Islands, the Netherlands, the south of France, and the Carpathian Alps of Romania on a trip from Vienna to Bucharest. She was an avid scuba diver when living near the South China Sea. During an assignment in Honduras with the Peace Corps, where she and her husband worked as teacher trainers, Patty became a Spanish speaker, and was instrumental in establishing the first national preschool teacher conferences in that country. During her professional life, she lived in eight countries overseas while teaching in American and international schools in Romania, Bangladesh, Malaysia, India, Morocco, China, and Venezuela. She was significant in developing libraries in the schools in each of those countries. While living overseas for 30 years, Patty and her husband purchased and worked passionately at their cherished woodland home outside of Franklin, PA when they returned to the United States each summer. Patty was a devoted woods person and gardener. After retirement, she spent every day gardening, working in the woodlot, reading or skiing in the winter. However, the loves of her life were her children. She is survived by her daughters, Jasmin Sonnet of Las Vegas and Aliya Sonnet Anthes (Ananth) of Pittsburgh; and a son, Luke Sonnet, currently at UCLA. Along with her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary Lynch Quigley. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Grace Lynch Lippert of Meadville, PA, Helen Lynch of Pittsburgh, and Mariann Lynch of Broad Run, VA. Friends will be received at The Commons, Liberty Street, Franklin, PA, Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a memorial luncheon. Michael was raised in Greenfield and attended Taylor Allderdice High School. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving during Korea. Mike worked for J & L Steel and retired after 37 years of service in 1994. He and his wife Patty celebrated their 50th wedding Anniversary on June 22, 2013. Mike liked to volunteer and enjoyed working at St. Elias Church and Life Span in Homestead Park. Mike belonged to the AARP, Thompson Run #3172, the American Legion Post 9783, West Mifflin Branch, the Tin Can Sailors, and the USS Soley Association, where he held the office of Ships Store Person.
