BONSTEEL TERRANCE S. Terry Bonsteel, age 73, returned to eternal life on January 27, 2016. He bids “so long but not goodbye” to his son, Dr. Brian Bonsteel of Pittsburgh; his incredible sister, Cheryl Richards of Akron; his favorite uncle, Joe Lenze of Norton; and scores of loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in his passing by his beautiful wife, Sandra (Sizemore) Bonsteel; and parents, Stanley and Josephine Bonsteel. He served in the U.S. Navy, worked as an electrical engineer, and retired from Dairy Mart as a corporate director. He walked this earth with humility and a mission of service. If you knew him in the 70s and 80s, he probably repaired your TV. From the 90s onward, he likely fixed your computer. He had a love for dogs throughout his life and enjoyed golf, woodworking, painting and even wrote poetry. Always looking out for the safety of others, he would bless everyone with final instructions before leaving his house saying “Use your seatbelt, lock your doors and don't speed.” In lieu of flowers, Terry wished that contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States. STARK JAMES C. Age 84, of Hampton Township, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016. Jim was a still photographer for ten years at KDKA. He then was a cameraman with Channel 4 WTAE for 20 years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Dillion) Stark; his son, Patrick D. (Amy) Stark; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Katherine Stark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Marie (Flaherty) Stark and his brother, Edward Stark. JACKSON RUSSELL “RUSS” “PAP” DANIEL, Jr. Age 76, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at home under Family Hospice & Palliative Care, with his wife by his side. He was born April 6, 1939, in the Frog Town (East Liberty) section of Pittsburgh, to Russell, Sr. and Geraldine (Campbell) Jackson. The eldest of six children, he was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School system. From birth, he was an avid sports fan and participant. In his youth, he played baseball for Peabody High School, from which he graduated in 1956, also with a city traveling all-star team, and excelled to the point of garnering a tryout with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also loved his Pittsburgh teams, and represented wherever he traveled. Russell, who was a very hard and dedicated worker, held many long-term positions throughout his adult life, up until his retirement in 2001 from his Heavy Cleaner/ Firemen B position with the Pittsburgh Public Schools. On March 14, 1987, Russell married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Golden, whom he really enjoyed providing for and spending time, hosting family, and traveling with. Affectionately known as “Pap”, he also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and younger brother, John Jackson, Sr. Russell is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Liz; daughters from a previous marriage, Deidre Kennedy, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Rene Jackson; sons, Bruce Mullen, Jr. (Tina), David Washington (Charles); brothers, William Jackson and Karlton Jackson; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with one on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Per Russell's wishes, there will be no public viewing or funeral service. The family would like to thank everybody for their love and support, especially the people who helped Russell in his time of illness, as he had suffered from dementia for the last ten years of his life. DONNICK TRACY LYNN Age 46, Melbourne, Florida, formerly of Aspinwall, PA, was surrounded by family and her loyal Chihuahua, Wormie, when she passed after losing a long and courageous battle with cancer on December 9, 2015. Tracy is survived by her sister, Terri Lynn; and her mother and stepfather, Linda and Irwin Frankel. Tracy was preceded in death by her father, Terrence George Donnick; and her beloved Doberman, Chance. Growing up, fond memories of her include going to Ferhmanns for Cherry Cokes, playing hide and seek along the houses and alleys of Second Street, running home when the curfew whistle blew, riding bikes up and down all the hills and at the end of the yearly memorial day parade. She had a great love for all animals , especially horses, dolphins and Dobermans. She was a huge fan of the Rolling Stones. She enjoyed her career at Anteon Corp. when she moved to Virginia Beach to be closer to the ocean. She had a great sense of humor and loved playing practical jokes. She had an eye for decorating and could make any house a home. She was the happiest when she finally got to hug and kiss a dolphin up close and ride horses along the ocean with her sister. She loved making holidays and birthdays extra special for her mother. Tracy valued spending her time with family and friends and loved nothing more than helping anyone in their time of need. She loved all of her aunts, uncles and her cousins more than anything. Tracy, we will hold you forever in our hearts until we can hold you again in Heaven, there is not a day that goes by that we don't think about you. A memorial for Tracy is planned for the summer. EDDY ETHELIND A. Age 86, of Verona PA, died peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2016, of natural causes. Linda, as she was known, was a tireless force behind gardening, public gardens and education through her volunteer and board work with the The Garden Club of Allegheny County, The Phipps Conservatory, and The Pittsburgh Garden Center. One project was the outdoor garden at Phipps Conservatory. Linda helped to transform this garden from an ignored and deteriorating public space to being recognized as one of the jewels of this city. Her energy, humor and strong organizational skills were central to any project or program with which she was involved. Mrs. Eddy was born in Charleston, WV on July 6, 1929, to David M. Giltinan and Elsie Q. Smith. She attended Smith College, Northampton, MA in 1951, with a BA in English. Following her marriage to Tom Eddy, she moved to Pittsburgh. Linda embraced Pittsburgh with gusto, charmed by the town and people. Linda focused on her family from her children, through to the many levels of aunts, uncles and cousins that stemmed from her southern roots. Linda was known for her dry wit, bright personality and distinct laugh she shared with friends. Mrs. Eddy was predeceased by her husband, Thomas P. Eddy. She is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Q. Cassetti (Robert) of Trumansburg, NY; son, Thomas P. Eddy (Jennifer) of Ipswich, MA; daughter, Louisa Blair DeVan (Michael) of Charleston, WV; and son, David A. Eddy (Kristin) of Phoenixville, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Katherine Cassetti, Alexander Cassetti, Gibbs Eddy, Dale Eddy, Eliza Eddy, Caroline Eddy and Sarah Eddy. Betty was the loving wife of 65 years to the late William R. SIMCIC ROBERT J. Of Forest Hills, age 91, on January 30, 2016. Beloved husband for 60 years of the late Mary P. (Papoulas) Simcic who died June 28, 2015. Loving father of Peter Simcic of Forest Hills, Sister Epistime (Harriet) of St. Kosmas Aitolos Monastery in Ontario, Margo (Randy) Peretik of Wilkins Twp. and Barbara (Gary) Theofilis of Churchill; dear grandfather of Jonathan (Shawna), Daniel (fiancée, Angela), Christian (Gabrielle), Aristotle and Alexander; proud great- grandfather of Olivia; brother of Anna Gregg of North Braddock, Dolores "Dee Dee" Mullaly of Florida, Jane DeSimone of TX, Richard Simcic of AZ, the late Ruth McNutt and the late Wilma Stohlberg. Bob joined the Marine Corps at age 17 and served four years during World War II with the First Marine Division in Guadalcanal and the Island of Palau, Peleliu. He was wounded in Peleliu. He carried the shrapnel with him all these years, unbeknownst to his family. After WW II, he enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh and earned his Electrical Engineering degree, later achieving Professional Engineer status. Bob was employed by various firms including, Auburn and Associates, Dravo and Eichleay. He traveled internationally as an engineer until his retirement at age 78. Bob was a fantastic harmonica player and an accomplished artist. He excelled at drawing, oil painting, wood carving and calligraphy. He also custom crafted "to scale" model airplanes. In 2005, Bob designed and painted one of the "Phantastic Phils" for an outdoor art installation in Punxsutawny. His design served as a road sign to Gobbler's Knob, an important area attraction. Bob was also a former Board member and two-time past president of his church, Ypapanti in East Pittsburgh, and also served as the Sunday School supervisor for many years. For family gatherings, Bob's deviled eggs were always a favorite and "Fine and dandy, sweet as candy" was his best known greeting. Born September 6, 1925, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late John and Mattie (Hayes) Bennett. Alice worked as a Pharmacy Clerk, was a member of St. Sylvester's Parish, a member of the Italian Sons and Daughters, and deeply loved her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mike A. Milano; and a daughter, Alice Mayday. O'ROURKE CLARENCE "SHORTY" Age 88, of Moon Twp., a prominent Coraopolis Businessman passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016. He was born in Coraopolis, Sept. 12, 1927, to the late Blanche Martin and Clarence D. O'Rourke, Sr. He was a resident of Moon Twp. since 1950 where he had built his own home. In 1951 he purchased the Esso station at the corner of Fifth and Ferree Sts. and retired from the family operated business on Jan. 1, 1987. There was never a problem he couldn't solve or a car he couldn't fix. In his past time Shorty enjoyed restoring and showing his many antique gas engines. He was also predeceased by his wife, Ruth M. Hitt on Nov. 25, 2008; a grandchild, Michelle; brother, Roy O'Rourke; and a sister, Lois Stewart. Shorty is survived by his children, Daniel (Diana) O'Rourke, Neville Island, Ruth Ann (Michael Clancy) Mixter, Shippingport and Susan (Robert) DiVito, Raccoon Twp.; four grandchildren, Daniel, Douglas, Jason and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren, Hope, Kristin, Aaron, Tyler, Cadence, Lexi, and Brandon; six great- great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Austin, Myla, Elise, Athena and Hunter; one sister, Janice (Jerry) Brough Ft. GOOD KRIEMHILD SCHOLVIEN (MACKENSEN) Kriemhild “Kim” Good, a retired teacher, died on January 29, 2016. Mrs. Good was born on August 5, 1916, in Columbus, OH. She was the daughter and firstborn child of the Rev. Paul J. Mackensen and Anne Wurster Mackensen. She received her BA from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD, in 1937 and her MEd over four decades later from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. Mrs. Good taught in the Baltimore, MD, school system in the late 1930s and early 1940s before raising a family. After raising her family, she taught in the Schuylkill County and Franklin City School Districts, in Pennsylvania in the 1970s and 1980s. Following her marriage to the Rev. Leonard E. Good on June 19, 1943, Mrs. Good lived the life of a Lutheran pastor's wife in Mt. Holly, NJ, Nuremberg, PA, Spinnerstown, PA, Pine Grove, PA and Oil City, PA. Upon retirement, they built a house near Franklin, PA, where they lived for 22 years before moving to Sherwood Oaks retirement community in Cranberry Twp., PA in 2000. Mrs. Good is survived by her brother, Paul J. Mackensen, of Pittsburgh, PA; her sons, Lawrence and Lowell; her daughter, Karen (Kate); ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Good was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard and daughter, Elaine. Her family always appreciated her as a strong, pleasant, loving, caring, inspiring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived a full and very productive life. She loved teaching and from the beginning specialized in teaching children with special needs. In retirement, she read stories to classes of Montessori School children and taught English to adults from abroad. Two memorial services for Mrs. Good will be held. First, on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Sherwood Oaks in Cranberry Twp., PA, and next on Sunday, March 13, 2016, 2 p.m., at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cranberry Twp., PA.
