He lived much of his life in Pittsburgh working as a firefighter for 32 years in the Mt. Lebanon Fire Dept. He retired in 1988, as platoon chief. In 1989, he and his wife, Mary Lou, moved to Delray Beach, FL and spent their summers in Hendersonville, NC. They moved to Vero Beach, FL in 2010. James was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lou. TARAPCHAK CICILY ANN Cicily Ann Tarapchak, 74, died January 19, 2016, after a short illness, in Butler Memorial Hospital. Born in Brownsville, she was the daughter of the late Margaret and George Tarapchak. A Monaca High School Graduate she received an associate degree in commercial arts from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. As a commercial artist she worked for several companies and was a Visual Merchandising Supervisor for Fashion Bug in the tri-state area for many years. She was an internationally recognized beader and had been called A Maven of Creation by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Cicily was a member of the Obsessive Compulsive Beadworkers of PA and the Beaver Art Group. She traveled extensively and her favorite destination was Barcelona, Spain. She enjoyed oil painting, swimming, trying exotic foods and making people laugh. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Tarapchak. She is survived by her fiancé, James Stephens; lifetime friend, Juliana (John) Carpenter of Slippery Rock; and several cousins. Interment will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in St. John's Cemetery, 1270 Chapel Road, Monaca by Rev. Robert J. Miller of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Beaver. WOSHNER DOROTHY SZOSTAK Of Murrysville, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2016. She was born in 1932 in Lyndora to Helen Matula Szostak and Albin Szostak. As a young girl, she was known for her lovely singing at church, community functions and weddings. She attended Seton Hill College and majored in Spanish. In 1954 she married Lawrence B. Woshner, Jr. (deceased) and settled in Rostraver Township. She taught and later supervised the early intervention program at Mon-Valley Health Center in Monessen. Dorothy's life centered on her family. An expert bridge player, she also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and singing in her church choir. Her Polish heritage was a source of great pride. She excelled at cooking traditional Polish foods, spoke the language fluently, and loved to polka. A particularly treasured experience was a trip to Poland with her mother, sister and brother-in-law. Her absence will be profoundly felt by her devoted children, Clare (James) Budd, Lawrence (Barbara) Woshner, Victoria Woshner (Bennett Van Houten) and Justin Woshner. She is survived by her loving sister, Helen Zuzik; her nieces, Michele Harris and Helene Brett; and her nephew, Thaddeus Zuzik. She will also be missed by her grandsons, Michael, Stephen and Jonathan Budd; and by many friends. BURKE STEVEN E. Age 61, of Fox Chapel, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. Beloved husband of 28 years to Gail (Sullivan) Burke; loving father of Chip (adored daughter- in-law to be, Katia Wozniak) and Peter; son of Patsy Burke and the late Charles R. Burke; brother of Charles R. "Chip" Burke, Jr. and the late Mimi Burke; also survived by many favorite nieces and nephews. Steve was born and raised in Pittsburgh. He was a graduate of Shady Side Academy and the University of Virginia. Steve worked in sales for H.K. Porter Company, Allegheny Ludlum and Dietrich Industries in Chicago before moving back to Pittsburgh at age 37 to help his family run The Grable Foundation. Steve was at his happiest when with his wife, two boys and daughter-in-law whether at home or exploring the world. His passion for Pittsburgh was palpable. He had thousands of BEST friends here and scattered across the country. Steve rarely missed a home game with his beloved Steelers and insisted on traveling wherever they played in the Super Bowl. His other loves included his weekend cycling group and his golfing buddies, where he worshiped at the altar of the Fox Chapel Golf Club on Sundays, as long as the Steelers weren't playing. Steve's family and friends know that his legacy of love for family, friends and his city live on in our hearts forever. No Visitation.
