MILLER ANN ARGYROS 88, of Vandergrift, died Sunday, December 8, 2013, in her residence. Born July 21, 1925 in Oakmont, she is the daughter of the late George and Olga Tanner Argyros and had lived in Vandergrift since 1946, when she had married James G. Miller who passed away in 1998. Ann and her husband owned and operated Miller's Market on Columbia Avenue in Vandergrift, then Miller's Supermarket on Hancock Avenue in Vandergrift until they retired in 1974. She was a member of the Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church In Vandergrift, and also a member of the Greek Ladies Philoptohos Society. Ann was an avid gardener and a excellent cook and baker of Greek foods. Survivors include a son, George J. (Mary Ann) Miller of Moon Township; and a daughter, Gayla M. (Dane) Skroupa of West Deer; eight grandchildren, James G. (Wendy) Miller, Alexander J. Skroupa, Jackie S. (Anthony) Randza, Edward G. (Lisa) Miller, Patrick G. Miller, Dr. Elisa M. Miller, Andrew G. Miller, and Dr. Benjamin G. Miller; eight great-grandchildren, James and Nathan Skroupa, Malaina and Collin Randza, Pearl, Ruby, Julia and Dexter Miller. In addition to her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon and Gus Argyros; three sisters, Mary Boubouras, Despina Dukas, and Helen Avlon. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 in the DUNMIRE - KERR & ROWE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 244 Franklin Avenue, Vandergrift, 724-568-3639. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, in Vandergrift, with the Very Reverend Fr. Stephen Mazaris officiating. Interment will be in the Vandergrift Cemetery. A Trisagion service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers that had helped Ann and her family for the past five years. FARR WILLIAM EARL, Sr. 65, of Pittsburgh, died at home Wed., Dec. 4, 2013. He was a former Clairton resident. Born Sept. 14, 1948 in Donora, PA, son of the late Carrie Farr Spence and stepfather, Jessie Spence. Affectionately known as “Bill,” he was a graduate of Clairton High School and former construction worker. He was a disabled veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he received a Purple Heart. Surviving are his children, Amber Farr of Pittsburgh and William Earl "BJ" Farr, Jr. of West Mifflin; siblings, Roslyn Spence Wade, Thomas (Rose) Farr, and Jessie Ronald Spence, all of Clairton; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Memorial Services to be held at Shepherd's Heart Fellowship, 13 Pride St., Pgh., PA, Sun., Dec. 15, 2013 at 5:15 p.m., with Rev. Michael D. Wurschmidt officiating. HIMES NORMAN S. Passed suddenly and unexpectedly in Goshen, CT on December 8, 2013 at age 70. He was a man who made his family the most important thing in his world. He rejoiced in the high moments of life and laughed easily and often. A native of Pittsburgh, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1965 and earned his MBA from the Katz School of Business. He began his career in banking operations at IBM in Pittsburgh, and worked in Dallas, Tampa, Orlando, Miami and Philadelphia. He retired to New Smyrna Beach, FL and spent his summers in Goshen, CT. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patti Miller Himes; his sister, Terry Himes; his children, N. Stephen Himes, Jr. and Pamela Himes Cloud; and four grandsons, Grant Himes, Charlie Cloud, Max Cloud and Chad Himes. Memorial Services will be held in Florida in early 2014. KIRK TYSON BRANDON 16, of Emsworth, passed away suddenly, on Tuesday, December 10, 2013. Beloved son of Tamra Kohlmeyer Kirk and Vernon Kirk; loving brother of Jordan (Kirk) Wallace; proud grandson of Wilma Kirk, Maureen Legari and William Kohlmeyer. Also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many friends. Tyson was a junior at Avonworth H.S. where he was an avid football player, playing positions as a running back and linebacker. He loved to draw, starting at an early age, enjoyed playing video games, watching movies and TV (The Walking Dead), listening to music, eating and just hanging out with his friends. McKINNEY SARAH LEE (McKEE) Died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Forbes Hospice. She was preceded in death by her brother, Nelson McKee, Jr.; her father, Nelson McKee, Sr.; and her mother, Elizabeth Murphy McKee. Sarah was educated in the Pittsburgh Public School System. After graduating from Fifth Avenue High School, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Livingstone College. Her passion for teaching spanned over more than three decades. For her many years of service, from Rochester, New York to Pittsburgh, PA, Sarah was rewarded with precious reminders from students and faculty alike whose lives she touched. Though she often said, “teaching is a job like no other,” she gracefully retired from Arlington Elementary School in 2002. Sarah found the Lord at an early age. She was a devoted Christian, committed to serving others. Sarah was a member of the Church in the Round before becoming a part of The Living Word Ministry. There she served on the Mother's Board, chosen because of her wisdom, her ability to provide spiritual comfort and a true messenger of how to live a fulfilling life of service. Sarah leaves loving memories to her sister, Marva Williams; her nieces and nephews; a host of cousins, and loving friends, Maggie Hill, Beverly, Lorraine and Sandra Downer. Services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at The Living Word Ministry, 717 Ridge Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, with Pastor David Lee, officiating. MORRIS LEONARD B. 93, peacefully passed away on December 9, 2013. He was surrounded by Irma, his devoted wife of 66 years; daughter, Marjorie (Larry); and grandsons, Lee and Eric. Leonard was predeceased by his sister, Adele Elman; and brother, Leslie Morris. Leonard was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and a veteran of WWII where he served in England and France. He was a Certified Gemologist, and with his wife, owned and operated Eger's Jewelers in Coraopolis, PA for 37 years. Leonard and Irma retired to Palm Beach where they were members of Temple Israel and the Atlantis Country Club. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
