Duffy; his five sons, Dru (Kris) Duffy, Dan (Anita) Duffy, Doug (Reneé), Dennis Duffy and David (Tanya) Duffy; his brother, Bob (Ginny) Duffy; his two sisters, Blanche Pitchford and Anne Russo; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. KOTER DONALD M. 84, formerly of Irwin, died Sat., Dec. 7, 2013 at UPMC St. Margaret's Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Apr. 27, 1929 in Claridge, son of the late Michael and Pauline Pushnick Koter. Prior to retirement, he was a music teacher and band director for Greensburg Salem School District. Don was part owner of Professional Music Center of Greensburg for over 30 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin where he served as Choir Director. He graduated from St. Vincent College in May of 1958. Don earned his Master's Degree in Music Education from Duquesne University in 1965. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the US Air Force Band. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leona R. Rudinsky Koter. Surviving are sons, Eric (Maria) Koter of Nevillewood, Scott (Carol) Koter of Delmont, Randy (Bernadette) Koter of Wexford; grandchildren, Amber Koter-Puline, Adrienne Gauntner, Eric Alexander, Ryan, Morgan, Christopher and Megan Koter; great-grandchildren, Bayleigh and Tyler Gauntner, Lorenzo and Leonardo Puline. BERKEY JOAN GRIGG 87, of Cape May Court House, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2013, at Atlanticare accompanied by her son and daughter. She was born on September 24, 1926, long- term resident of Cape May County, NJ and formerly of Pittsburgh, PA. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Bruce, in 1995; her longtime companion, Louis Clelland, in 2012; and her daughter, Jan Berkey, in 2008. She is survived by her sister, Jan Cleveland; daughter, Cris (Scott); her son, Jack (Terri); grandchildren, Gabriel, Bryan, Justin, Sean, Lucas, Nathan, Daniel, Chelsea, K.C.; and many great-grandchildren. Joan was the longtime owner of The Happy Hunt, a Stone Harbor family business operated with the help of her children, grandchildren, and fond employees. She treasured the relationships she developed over the course of her lifetime and the lives she touched in her daily routine. She will be dearly missed. JOZEFCZYK PATRICIA “PAT” B., M.D. Age 64, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Upper St. Clair, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013 at the West Penn Hospital, after a lengthy battle with Leukemia. She was born October 7, 1949 in North Charleroi, daughter of the late William and Helen Michaloski Jozefczyk. Pat was a current member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin. Pat was a graduate of the Mon Valley Catholic High School, where she was Valedictorian of the class of 1967. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh, and graduated Suma Cum Laude. Pat earned her M.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and graduated with highest honors. She specialized and practiced in the field of Neurology. Dr. Jozefczyk most recently practiced at the Allegheny West Penn Health System, and was a member of the Allegheny Neurological Associates. Throughout her professional career, Pat was a member of the National Board of Neurology, and played a key role in the development and administration of the national Board Certification examinations. In addition, she represented the Board at conferences and seminars throughout Europe. Pat was also involved in advanced research regarding the use of Botox as it pertained to diseases and abnormalities of the brain and central nervous system. During her career, she practiced Neurology at the Allegheny General Hospital, the University of Pittsburgh Hospital System, and was a staff member of many hospitals throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. Surviving her is one brother, William Jozefczyk and his wife, Carol, of Irwin; one sister, Francine Zdrale and her husband, George, of North Huntingdon; a niece, Kristin Cahill; a nephew, Kevin Zdrale; and two great-nieces. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon this Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin. She will be laid to rest with her parents in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Charleroi. There will be no viewing. YURKO JOSEPH R. On Saturday, December 7, 2013, our dear Uncle Joe, age 95, went home to be with the Lord. Born in McKees Rocks on November 13, 1918, he was the son of the late Andrew and Julia Yurko; brother of the late John, Andrew (Patricia), George (Bernadine) Mary Novelselski, (Metro) Ann Bacher, (Charles), Josephine Jasen (John), Margaret Rectenwald (Charles). He is survived by his beloved sister, Helen Murawski, (Anthony) and sister-in-law, Bernadine Saunders; nine nieces; five nephews; 22 great-nephews and nieces; and 14 great-great-nieces and nephews. Joe was a longtime member of the former St. Marks's Parish where he was an usher and elevator operator. He was very proud of his Slovak heritage and attended many Slovak Day celebrations at Kennywood Park. He loved football and followed the Steelers, Pitt and Sto-Rox teams avidly. Joe was a former employee of the Gordon Oil Company in McKees Rocks. He was a World War II US Army veteran and served in the Pacific Theatre with the 915th Ordnance Heavy Automotive Maintenance Company. Joseph was a wonderful son, brother and uncle and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. MARKOVICH HELEN C. 90, formerly of McKee Road, North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, while living with her daughter in Clarksboro, NJ. Born Oct. 25, 1923, she was a daughter of John and Katherine Chrzan. She is survived by her husband, Thomas, whom she had been married to for 68 years. They had known each other since she was 16, growing up on 28th Street in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. Helen lost her beloved son, Chuck, five years ago. She missed him every day and she was heartbroken. She also is survived by her children, a daughter, Karen (Dave) Axelson, of New Jersey; a son, Thomas (Tracey) Markovich, of Monroeville; grandchildren, Eric and Marc Axelson, of New Jersey, Bryan, Scott and Kelly Markovich, of Monroeville; and a great-grandson, Kaden; her beloved nieces, Catherine Zuraw, of Lawrenceville and Helen Offman, of Murrsysville; and many more nieces and nephews. She also is survived by a sister-in-law, Josephine Tralka, of Pittsburgh. Helen was predeceased by a sister, Julia Pijanowski; and a brother, Walter Chrzan. She had many longtime friends from McKee Road, where they had lived for more than 50 years. Helen enjoyed cooking for her family and was an avid reader. For 30 years, she also canned the produce that came from her husband's garden. Mrs. Markovich was blessed by having many of her son Chuck's friends, who helped her during his two year battle. A Memorial Mass will be held for Helen at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at St. Stanislaus Church, 21st St. and Smallman, Pittsburgh. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
