She was born August 9, 1920, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Andrew and Mary Martin Northen. Miss Northen was retired as a high school teacher with Pittsburgh Public Schools and was co-owner of the former “The Quilt Shoppe” in Bethel Park. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Finleyville. Surviving are two nieces, DarIa McFadden (Robert) and Pat Lempia (Stan); and three nephews, Sean McFadden, John Dickson and Hank Northen, Jr. Deceased are two brothers, Chester and Henry Northen. McCANN CAROL Age 66, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015. Born March 25, 1949, beloved daughter to the late David and Aline Cochran. Wife of the most adoring and devoted husband, Edward McCann. Biggest fan and champion of her four children, Kathleen (Al) Thomas, Kevin (Jodie) McCann, Kelly (Mike) Tookey and Brian McCann. Her eight grandchildren were her world. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Michael Katich; beloved grandson, Corey; and her 9 siblings. Loving mother of Joseph Samuel Katich (Nancy) of Houston, TX, Nicholas Katich (Susan) of Hopewell, Linda Sciullo (the late Henry) of Moon Township, Rosanne Vogel (Lyn Frank) of Independence Township, Thomas Katich (Ann) of Exton, Nancy Frye (Vince) of Bridgeville and Diana Howard (Randy) of Tampa, FL; cherished “Gram” of Michael, Megan, Casey (Elena), Sarah (Michael), Nicole, Rob, Max, Madalin, Reid, Victor, Emily, Melanie, Allison; proud “G.G.” of Wyatt, Evan, Cameron, Mandy, Maddie, Shelly, Mila; and “G.G.G.” of Breanna. BURDICK GERALD CLARK Passed away, peacefully, on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at the age of 89, in Pittsburgh, PA, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Jerry was born in Bushnell's Basin, New York, grew up in the Rochester, New York area and after graduating from Pittsford High School, enlisted in the Navy, serving four years of active duty as a Seabee in the South Pacific during World War II. After honorable discharge, he married Beverly Jean LeRoy and graduated from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, with a B.S. degree in Economics and Industrial Relations. Jerry had a fulfilling and accomplished career as Director, Industrial Relations at Mesta Machine Company, Homestead, PA. He was a lifelong active member of the Episcopal and Anglican churches. He shared his keen intelligence, sense of humor, and many interests with his family and friends, including his passions for reading good literature, studying history, and spending time outdoors, gardening, bird-watching, hiking and fishing. He leaves a legacy of an intelligent life well lived with faith in God and love for family. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beverly; daughters, Amy Crane (Thomas), Linda Plumb (Mark) and Nancy Burdick of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Allison Kelly (Sean) of Vancouver, Washington, Ryan Crane, Pittsburgh and Michael Plumb (Kelly) of Centreville, Virginia; great-grandsons, Adam Woodley and Colin Plumb; brother, Don Burdick (Pat) of Victor, New York; nephews and nieces, Thomas Burdick (Joan), Dorothy Caswell (Jim), Anne Whalen (Kendall) and Michael Burdick (Eileen). BROWN HOMER THOMPSON Age 80, of Easton, Maryland, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, in Annapolis, Maryland. Born on March 2, 1935, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Homer H. and Mary Thompson Brown. He graduated from Oliver High School, where he was a member of the swimming team. Homer proudly served his country for ten years with the National Guard in the States of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. After 33 years of service, Homer retired from Trans World Airlines in 1989. He is survived by Dorothy Eonda Brown, his loving wife of 58 years; his three godsons, Kevin McAllister, Brian McAllister and Jonathan Isaacs; and three special cousins, Nancy Thompson Worstell, Charlene Thompson Madera and Ruth Thompson Westman. He was a member of Elks Lodge 2309 in Gambrills, MD. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or service.
