HOWELL CECIL G. Cecil, 85, of Oakdale, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in his home. He was born August 27, 1929, in Oakdale, a son of the late Cecil R. and Libby (Harriman) Howell. Mr. Howell was an operator for Conrail for 44 years. He was a member of Oakdale U.P. Church and was the author of a book, The Building of the Panhandle Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Surviving are his sons, Dr. Steven Howell of California and Terry (Wendy) Howell of Bethel Park; his grandson, Grahm Howell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Farrar) Howell; and two brothers, James and Harriman Howell. There will be no visitation. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Seniors and participated in activities at the South Baldwin Senior Center. In her early years, she served as the Democratic Committeewoman for Baldwin Boro and enjoyed working the polls during elections. She loved to travel and visit her family and will be remembered for her delicious Slovak traditional cooking. Her faith and family were her main focus and she lived every day for those purposes. After retirement, Earl dedicated his life to raising his son to be the fine young gentleman that he is today. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and archery, sports he enjoyed with his son.
