HOWELL CECIL G. Cecil, 85, of Oakdale, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015, in his home. He was born August 27, 1929, in Oakdale, a son of the late Cecil R. and Libby (Harriman) Howell. Mr. Howell was an operator for Conrail for 44 years. He was a member of Oakdale U.P. Church and was the author of a book, The Building of the Panhandle Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Surviving are his sons, Dr. Steven Howell of California and Terry (Wendy) Howell of Bethel Park; his grandson, Grahm Howell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Farrar) Howell; and two brothers, James and Harriman Howell. There will be no visitation. John was a longtime member of the Antique Auto Racing Association and the Studebaker Drivers Club. Beloved mother of Larraine Clark, Marilyn Sammarco, Cheryl Goodwin and Jan Michael Tomasko; sister of Anna Zientara; loving grandmother of Cynthia Clark, Therese and Grace Sammarco, Eileen and Patricia Goodwin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; and her brother, Victor Mikula. For many years she was an active member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Seniors and participated in activities at the South Baldwin Senior Center. In her early years, she served as the Democratic Committeewoman for Baldwin Boro and enjoyed working the polls during elections. She loved to travel and visit her family and will be remembered for her delicious Slovak traditional cooking. Her faith and family were her main focus and she lived every day for those purposes. WOODYARD EARL D., Jr. Age 68, of Baldwin Borough and North Side, on Monday, April, 6, 2015. Loving husband of Regina Garofalo Woodyard and father of Earl D. Woodyard III, who was his pride and joy. Preceded in death by his parents, Earle D. and Daisy B. Woodyard; brother David; and sister, Barbara Ann; caring son-in-law to John and Mary Ann Garofalo; brother-in-law to John and Suzanne Garofalo, Renee (Larry) Vernet, Angela (Brent) Pack; uncle of Zack Guthrie, Brent (Angelica) Pack; and their son, Evan, Dan Pack and Martina, and Andrew Pack; longtime trusted friend of Dominic Costa since the two were partners on the police force in the 70s. Earl dedicated his life to the City of Pittsburgh, spending 33 years with the Bureau of Police. He worked his way through the ranks from patrolman to Deputy Chief, a position he held until his retirement in 2006. After retirement, Earl dedicated his life to raising his son to be the fine young gentleman that he is today. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and archery, sports he enjoyed with his son.
