DiLUIGI FRANK R. Age 91, of Russellton, passed away peacefully Monday, October 13, 2014, at Oakmont Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born September 23, 1923, in Russellton, son of the late Dominic and Assunta (Gentile) DiLuigi. He had lived the past nine years in Tarentum and prior to that most of his life in Natrona and Russellton. Frank's employment throughout his life was: Coal Miner for Republic Steel Corporation (underground mine), Sept. 1941-Mar. 1943; Coal Miner, Harrison Quinette Coal Co. (underground mine), Dorseyville, Oct. 1947-May 1948; Coal Miner, Ford Colleries Co. (underground mine), Bairdford, May 1948-May 1954; Machinist, Ford Motor Co., Twinsburg, OH; Laborer Capello's Home Builders; Laborer, Union Steel; Laborer, Glenshaw Glass, Laborer, Blawnox Steel; Laborer Sterling Nursery, Mars, and was a bar steward, Italian Club, Russellton. He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army as a Private 1st Class. He served from March 9, 1943 through December 1, 1945, serving in Company C295th Engineer Combat Battalion. Frank was a utility repairman, helping to build bailey bridges and treadways, helped to sweep roads and fields for mines, and helped to repair, patch, and fill-in and grade roads. Frank received the Army Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, European- Afrian-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button and the Army Marksmanship Qualification Badge (Rifle). He was presented with an honorary High School Diploma from Valley High School in December 2007. A member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Tarentum, life member of West Deer William Fish American Legion Post #593, Russellton, life member Order of Owls, Russellton, and life member VFW Post 7, Sharpsburg. Former member St. Joseph Parish, St. Ladislaus Church, Natrona. Frank enjoyed watching football and baseball, taking bus trips to Atlantic City, trips to Las Vegas, California, Wheeling, WV, and spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. Survivors include his daughters, Karen Evans, Brackenridge, and Patricia (Mark) Waldroup, Tarentum, with whom he lived; grandchildren, John Paul Evans, Brackenridge and Danielle S. (Shawn) McConnell, West Leechburg; sister, Rose Malesky, Curtisville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Ann (Elosvai) DiLuigi; daughter, Suzanne DiLuigi; his siblings, Peter (KIA WWII) and John DiLuigi and Teresa Marchegiano, Clementine Cecotti, Marianne Josefczyk; and an infant sister, Clementine; also a son-in-law, Dennis Evans. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Home Instead Senior Care, Oakmont, Oakmont Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Heritage Hospice, New Kensington, for their services and care. The family suggests donations to go toward research for Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.
