FLEISCHAUER RICHARD DICK Died at his home in Bethel Park, on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, four months after the death of his wife, Joan (Fallon) Fleischauer. He was 84. Dick was born to the late Fred and Katherine Fleischauer in 1930. He grew up with three truly unique brothers, Jack, Bob and Bill Fleischauer. After graduating from Mt. Lebanon High School, he joined the Air Force and moved to California. He wrote love letters to his sweetheart, Joan, who was back in Pittsburgh, and married her in 1951. The couple later settled in Mt. Lebanon and raised three children. After his time in the service, Dick worked hard as a sales engineer, but he made sure to have fun, too. Armed with a toothy grin and an arsenal of sarcasm, he knew how to make people laugh, even in the most unlikely circumstances. He and Joan always made people feel welcome in their home, offering them food and drink the moment their feet crossed the threshold, and sometimes even sooner. He passed his compassion, hospitality, and sense of humor on to his grateful children and grandchildren. Dick leaves his son, Rick Fleischauer (Cassie) of Rockwood; daughters, Kathy Comer (Jim) of McMurray, and Jane McCarty (John) of Brookline; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Family and friends welcome Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at FREYVOGEL SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 112 Fort Couch Rd. (opposite Macy's South Hills Village) Bethel Park.
