SLUSSER ROBERT M. “BOB”, Jr. Age 71, of New Salem, PA, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born August 24, 1942, in Braddock, PA, a son of the late Robert M. Slusser, Sr. and Maxine Sine Konopka Slusser. Bob was a member of the former Holy Rosary Church in Republic, retired from Allstate Insurance Co., where he worked as a claims adjuster. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, a member of the Hopwood Amvets Post 103, and a member of the Rollin Oldies Car Club. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Slusser; a sister, Vicki Gowton; and his parents. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Patrice Sciullo Slusser; children, Jared Slusser and fiancee, Samanthea Kniha, of Monessen, PA, Jason Slusser, of Cranberry Township, PA, and Holly Slusser Kern, of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Savannah Slusser, and Samantha and Riley Kern; and brothers, Jerry Slusser, of California state, Joseph Konopka, of Mt. Pleasant, PA, and Bobby Joe "B.J." Konopka, of Mt. Pleasant, PA. Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME, 1 Legion St., Republic, PA, on Sunday, June 29, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, June 30, 2014, until 9:30 a.m., when a Prayer Service will be held. BROWN-OAKES MARLAS ELAINE Age 63, of Pittsburgh, PA, went home to be with the Lord June 24, 2014 at her home. She was born October 1, 1950, to the late Donald L. Brown and Ethel Madelyn Smith. She was a systems operator at the time of her passing, employed by the McKesson Corporation. A graduate of Baldwin High School, Marlas loved music and was an avid Steelers fan. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend she leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Anthony Robert Brown of Pittsburgh, PA and Jeremy L. Oakes of Pittsburgh, PA; one daughter and son-in-law, Nicole Marie (Ryan) Sockwell of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale L. (Andrea) Brown of Jacksonville, Florida and Dean L. (Stacey Lynn) Brown of Pittsburgh, PA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Monica Kathleen Brown of Pittsburgh, PA and Darcia (Terrell) Ellis of Houston, Texas; and sister-in-law, Cherryl Brown of Pittsburgh, PA; nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond D. and Donald L. Brown. KNUTH CONSTANCE BUCH Resident of Chatham Village, Mt. Washington, died Monday, June 23, 2014, from a massive stroke. Connie is the wife of Robert Craig Knuth, architect. They celebrated their 56th anniversary June 11, 2014. Their three sons are David (Mary), Robert (Renee) and William (Karen) Knuth; grandchildren include Meghan, Reid, Haley, Robert and Rachel Knuth; sister of deceased, David (Carol) Buch; and sister-in-law, Kathy Buch. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents were Adelaide Hulings Lappe and William Herbert Buch. No service, viewing or visitation per her wish. A celebration of life is planned for a date to be announced. Connie was an accomplished mother, homemaker, artist, teacher, and poet. REEB CHARLES ROBERT Age 81, of Fredericktown, PA, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, in his home, after a prolonged illness. He was born April 15, 1933, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Martin Reeb. Mr. Reeb was a 1951 graduate of St. Justin Academy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Charles was an International Senior Flight Steward for (TWA) Trans World Airlines and for several years was co-owner of Shamrock Animal Rescue of Holbrook, PA, previously owned and operated Ron Travel Co., worked at MGM Studios and was also a bartender on Venice Beach, California. He was a prolific painter, painting and decorating his many masks. Surviving is a sister, Patricia A. Kaley of South Fayette Township, PA; one niece, Krista M. Kaley of Collier Township, PA; and lifetime partner, Prof. James R. Carbin of Fredericktown, PA. Deceased in addition to his parents are one brother and one sister who both died in infancy. EVANS ANTHONY J. “TONY” Age 77, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospice House. He was born in Richmond Surrey, England on March 24, 1937, to the late Charles and Nell Evans. He married the love of his life, June Mary Sumner Evans, on May 13, 1961. They both moved from England, making Moon Township their home since 1964. He will be missed greatly by his beloved wife, June of Moon Township; his sister, Pam Hammerton of England; along with other extended family in England and many other wonderful neighbors and friends. He was owner for 24 years of Mick McGuire's in Market Square. His colorful life as a chef began at the age of 15 as a stock boy moving himself up to executive chef on the cruise ships of the Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, Corona and Mauretania and others. Tony also loved horse racing. Visitation Wednesday 6-9 p.m. at COPELAND'S MOON TOWNSHIP, 981 Brodhead Rd., where a service will be held on Thursday at 9 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. McLAUGHLIN BETTY KESSEL Betty Kessel McLaughlin was born on February 17, 1922, the daughter of Dr. Charles Royall Kessel and Ruby Staats Kessel. She lived in Ripley, West Virginia until shortly after World War II when she married her loving husband, Hugh Price McLaughlin, of 42 years. Betty was a pre-med student at WVU, but after marriage taught high school biology in several school systems. In 1959, she moved to Mayfair Drive in Mt. Lebanon where Betty would live until relocating last year to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Betty loved and delighted in her family and friends, especially the young ones, and she had a lifelong passion for education and music. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her spunky, tenacious personality, her fierce independence and determination, and her stories of family and life experiences. She died on June 20, 2014, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her son, Vance, and his wife, Sherry; her son, Hugh, and his wife, Kim; her grandson, Jamie, and his wife, Seah; and granddaughters, Kelly and Alyssa. After a family Memorial Service, she will be buried in Ripley, West Virginia.
