SHERLEY FEKETY CRAIG 1934-2020 Of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 7, 2020. Sherley was born on March 2, 1934, in Pittsburgh, to the late Francis Robert and Grace (McShaffrey) Fekety. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Armstrong Craig, III (Ted); and devoted sister to the late Dr. F. Robert Fekety (Nancy); and sister-in-law, to Donald Hunter Craig (Nancy). Following her graduation from Northwestern University, where she majored in Music, Sherley married her high school sweetheart, Ted. Sherley and Ted met as freshmen at Edgewood High School. Their favorite date nights included Pirate games at Forbes Field, movies at Regent Square, or attending the flower show at Phipps Conservatory. Sherley was a devoted wife and loving and compassionate mother. She enthusiastically decorated her home for the holidays, cooked divine family meals, and always adorned her houseguests' rooms with fresh flowers. Her love for family included extended family on both sides, and she eventually welcomed children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren into the warmth of her home. As a result, she responded to multiple monikers, including Mom, Nana, and even Super Nana! She loved planning family outings, including trips to the zoo, the Carnegie museums and libraries, and gatherings to watch Steeler, Pirate and Penguin games. Steadfast and loyal to her family, Sherley said they brought her the greatest joy of her life. Sherley shared her lifelong love of music with her family and friends, and often entertained guests by playing the piano and singing show tunes and other favorites. And singing was always part of the bedtime routine in the Craig household! She enjoyed attending the symphony and other musical performances. Sherley also had a passion for gardening and making floral arrangements. Her arrangements were displayed not only in her home, but also at Phipps Conservatory and eventually at Longwood, where she resided for the last four years of her life. When her children reached adulthood, Sherley was inspired to pursue a master's degree in social work at the University of Pittsburgh. She had a gift for listening to others, and offering thoughtful and compassionate advice. She volunteered for many non-profit organizations including the Junior League of Pittsburgh, the Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, Shady Side Academy, Three Rivers Arts Festival and Jane Holmes Residence. She was a faithful Roman Catholic throughout her life. Sherley enjoyed traveling, from planning annual family vacations to guided international tours and cruises. She was athletic and fit, and enjoyed tennis, walking, and especially golf. She played many renowned golf courses, and some of her favorites included St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, Turnberry, Spanish Bay, Cypress Point, Bandon Dunes and the Greenbrier.
