Beloved husband of the late Kathryn (Knerr) Mahoney for 59 years; loving father of William (Joyce) and Timothy (Sandy) Mahoney; brother of the late Margaret (Lee) Vankirk and Regis (Maryanne) Walter (Carol), Charles and Jimmy (Sheryl) Mahoney; cherished grandfather of Michael (Susan) Mahoney, Jennifer (Justin) Bular, Heather Mahoney and Trevor Mahoney and great-grandfather of Liam and Aubrey; brother-in-law to Julianne Zulla (Knerr) and Ralph Zulla and loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Donald was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a Master Plumber and worked for Allegheny County Health Department for 30 years as a Plumbing Inspector and Supervisor. He was a school coordinator and instructor for AMPAC Plumbing Apprenticeship School for 30 years and a Commander of Brookline American Legion, Post #540. He spent 30 years coaching football and 40 years as an usher at Our Lady of Grace Parish. He coached baseball for the Upper St. Clair Athletic Association for 25 years and played for multiple softball teams until the age of 75. Donald was also a member of the Dormont AARP and acted as Santa Claus for the South Hills Woman's Club for over 20 years. He was born October 20, 1948 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Gabriel and Helen D'Andrea. He was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in East McKeesport. He was the past owner of True Value Hardware store in Oakland and then went on to his life's work in construction as an independent general contractor. He found joy in golf, woodworking, coaching football, rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, cooking and having a great time amongst family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Thomas and Carol Kinavey. He is survived by his brother, John (Aliene) D'Andrea; nephew, Anthony D'Andrea; and his sons, Anthony and Samuel; nephew, Adam (Megan) D'Andrea and their sons, Joshua and Ethan; nephew, Craig Thomas; niece, Ashley Thomas and children, Gabriel A. GARDNER JOHN D. "DJ" Age 71, of Butler passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Grove at Harmony in Harmony, PA. Born January 30, 1948 in Butler, he was a son of the late John H. and Rose L. Wood Gardner. DJ worked for the B&O Railroad as a railroad brakeman for many years and than served as a bartender. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he proudly served in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star. DJ was a member of the American Legion Post #243 in West Sunbury, PA where he served as Sergeant-At-Arms. He enjoyed playing baseball well into his adult years and umpired up until just recently. He also enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley Davidson and watching Jeopardy. Surviving are his two sons, Thomas (Lindsay) Gardner of Butler and John (Jennifer) Gardner of Mission Viejo, CA; his two daughters, Katie Whitmire of McKeesport and Rebecca Wright and her spouse, Andrew Miller of Pittsburgh; ten grandchildren, Jewely, Clayton, Abby, Jacob, Lily, James, Jack, Greyson, Joseph and Quentin; a brother, William (Gladys) Gardner of Burbank, CA; and a sister, Sherry Braithwaite of Berkeley Springs, WV; his nephew, David (Shawn) Noblit of CO. BRINKLEY EUGENE P. Of Findlay Township passed away on February 3, 2019, at the age of 85. He was the beloved husband of the late Danice (Stayduhar) Brinkley; son of the late Michael and Annie (Gregorich) Brinkley; loving father of Ursula Brinkley of Virginia and Rochelle Brinkley (Will) Evans of Georgia; and the brother of Lorraine Soloman. Eugene was born in McKees Rocks in 1934. He was a member of St. Columbkille Church, Imperial, PA, as well as a member of the Moon Run Fireman's Club. He served in the United States Navy and was employed as an airline mechanic with Eastern Airlines and then with USAir for over 32 years. After his retirement, Eugene drove a school bus for the West Allegheny School District and enjoyed spending time traveling with his cousin Freddie Gregorich. Eugene and his wife Danice were avid WVU fans and they spent many weekends going to football games and cheering on the Mountaineers. They donated to many charities, one being the Front Range Equine Rescue, and they also fostered many cats throughout the years and were dedicated to the Animal Friends Organization.
