LEO Sr. MARY SALVATORE, CDP Having celebrated 100 years of age on Monday, December 4, 2017, Sister Mary Salvatore went to her eternal reward on Saturday, December 9, 2017. Sister Mary Salvatore was born in Millvale, and baptized Amelia Carmela at St. Mary's Church in Glenshaw, PA. She entered the Sisters of Divine Providence on August 30, 1936, and made Final Vows on August 15, 1943. For ten years, Sister Mary Salvatore served as an Elementary teacher at schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. She ministered in nursing at St. John's General Hospital and later at Braddock Hospital for over 50 years as nurse, supervisor, instructor and I.V. nurse. Sister Mary Salvatore received her Bachelor's degree in nursing from Duquesne University and her Master's in nursing education from the University of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Mary Magnelli Leo; and siblings: Joseph, Anthony, John, Lillian, Herman, Henry, Robert Leo and Loretta Gilch. Sister Mary Salvatore is survived by nieces and nephews and the Sisters of Divine Providence and their Associates. Beloved husband for 43 years of Amy Caprino (Dixon); loving father of Arthur Caprino and Nicole Caprino; and devoted grandfather of Artie (Pumpkin). Arthur was the brother of Mark Caprino, Jeffrey Caprino (Barb) and Gregory Caprino; and uncle of Jeffrey J (Carrie) and Melissa Caprino. Arthur was born on August 20, 1948, the son of the late Margaret Caprino (Lykowski) and Arthur Caprino. Art grew up on Jancey St. in Morningside and was a US Army combat veteran of the Vietnam War. He served as a Tech Sergeant from 1968 to 1970. Art met his future Amy when they worked together at Michael Baker, Jr. as draftsmen, and they were married in 1974. Art retired from A C Coy as a consultant to Alcoa working as the Unisys System Administrator with 20 years of employment in 2015. He loved helping and supporting Moon Gymnastics, where his wife and daughter are coaches. Art loved his extended family and taking his dog with him on daily rides. He always enjoyed socializing with friends and relatives. POMEROY CHERYL B. Cheryl B. Pomeroy, age 75, of Unity Township, died Saturday, December 9, 2017, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born February 1, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late John H. and Laverne Josephine (Reeves) Bryant. Prior to retirement, she had been a psychiatric social worker for Torrance State Hospital for over 35 years and also worked at Cards N Sweets Hallmark Store, Greensburg. She was a member of St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, St. Vincent gift shop and Torrance State Hospital. Cheryl built houses after Hurricane Katrina with Habitat for Humanity and also did mission work taking care of orphans and children suffering from diseases. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald T. Pomeroy. She is survived by three daughters, Amy Gustafson and husband, Todd of Latrobe and their children, Tyler and Erika, Rhonda DeStefino of Scottsdale, AZ and her children, Nicholas, Vincent and Michael, and Lori Talarico of Greensburg and her children, Janet Talarico and Amanda (Justin) Kubistek; four great-grandchildren: Garnet, Cole, Hunter and Dalton; her extended family, Susie Barcic of Mt.
