KENNEDY JOHN S. Age 87, of Moon Twp., died on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, in Heritage Valley Sewickley. He was born on November 19, 1929, in Sewickley, the son of the late David and Mildred (McDonald) Kennedy. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Ann (Pugliese) Kennedy; a son, Michael Kennedy; a brother, David Kennedy; and a sister, Ruth Redek. He is survived by two children, Cheryl Yurkowski, Dormont, and Patrick Kennedy (Marci), Crescent; four grandchildren, Kasey, Connor, Joyce and Ashley; two great- grandchildren, Tyler and Katie. John Kennedy led an extraordinary life. John was a lifelong resident of Moon Township. As a child he enjoyed going to work to help his father who was a building contractor. John delivered the newspaper on horseback and in 12 years never missed a day of school. He bought his first of many John Deere tractors when he was 18, and never stopped working with tractors until his death. Although work consumed the majority of his time, he never worked a day in his life because to him, work was fun. Outside of his equipment work, he was employed by Neville Chemical and spent almost 20 years as the road master for Moon Township. A few of John's favorite things outside of work were watching wrestling, going to Alabama or Florida to spend time with his son, Mike, and watch the rockets take off, trying to figure out a better way to build or do anything, and telling countless stories sharing his almost unlimited knowledge of Moon Township history. Although his body was failing him, he worked hard to keep his brain sharp, he was still writing down the memorized states and capitals an hour before his death. Friends will be received on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 12 Noon in the HUNTSMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MOON TWP. (1522 Coraopolis Hts. Rd.)
