PASINSKY MARY E. Age 87, of Monongahela and formerly Clairton, died Saturday, July 15, 2017. Born June 23, 1930, in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Inotela) Rosko. A member of St. Clare of Assisi Church, she was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence E. Pasinsky, who died January 12, 1989; her son, Larry Pasinsky, who died December 12, 2004; and her brothers, George and Pete Rosko. Mary is survived by her children, Peter (Pam) Pasinsky, of Jefferson Hills and Marie E. (Bob) Crafton, of Donora; her grandchildren, Bobby (Leah) and Eric Crafton, Brandon (Carly) Pasinsky, and Beth Ann (Steve) Joseph; her great-grandchildren, Graden Joseph and Sophia Pasinsky; her brother, John (Martha) Rosko, of Clairton; and also nieces and nephews. Visitation will be private at the request of the family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at 10 a.m. in St. Clare of Assisi Parish. GILLESPIE VIRGINIA “GINNY” ERMA (MARINI) Of Pittsburgh, formerly of Butler, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Erma Corrine Clauser and Palmer Felice Marini. She was preceded in death by two sisters. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Charles; and her son, David Bolliner of Pittsburgh, formerly a teacher in the Philadelphia City Schools. Ginny was an accomplished artist and photographer. She received awards in both endeavors. Ginny was a former member of the Association of Butler County, Butler Memorial Hospital Aux., the Blazing Star Choir and the New Castle Camera Club. She was an avid golfer and tennis player. She was a past member of the Araco Golf League, Sunrise Golf League and the Sunrise Bowlers. She was a member of the Pittsburgh Tennis League, where she was the Captain of the Sassy Lassy Traveling Team. She and Chuck enjoyed golf, tennis and traveling. She was a gentle and kind person. LAYTON DEACON JACK Age 76, of McMurray, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017. Deacon Layton was retired from active ministry at St. Benedict the Abbot Parish, Peters Township, where he had served since coming to the diocese in 1984. He was ordained for the Diocese of Joliet in 1981 and served at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Bolingbrook, IL. Jack was incardinated in the Diocese of Pittsburgh in 1997. Jack worked as a Certified Broadcast Engineer and consultant to Broadcasting Services. During his career, he worked at many radio stations in Pittsburgh including KDKA as their Engineering Manager. He received his Amateur Radio License in 1954 and broadcast under the calling name “W9UK.” Deacon Jack was an avid reader and passionate about literature. Over the course of his life he published several books and articles. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; daughter, Judith Layton Jones; son, Christopher Layton and fiancée, Julia Marple; grandson, Aiden Marple; two sisters, Kathleen (Charles) DeCesari and Patricia (Jack) Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by a sister, Mary Hennessey (Fran survives) and a brother, Paul Layton (Michele survives). Funeral arrangements entrusted to BEINHAUER, (724-941-3211). MARSHALL KIM S. (SMITH) Formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, died peacefully in her home in Delray Beach, FL on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. She was 75. Mrs. Marshall was born on May 16, 1942, in Fairmont, WV to her parents, Ralph and Georgia Smith (deceased). The family moved and she was primarily in Greensburg, PA. She attended Sullins College, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from West Virginia University. It was there where she met Thomas Marshall II, and they married in 1965. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Pittsburgh, PA. They were married 41 years until his death in 2007. Mrs. Marshall retired to Florida in 2009. Mrs. Marshall spent most of her professional career with the West Penn AAA Motor Club, starting as an Emergency Road Service dispatcher and finishing as the Vice President of Travel and Operations. She was instrumental in the club's move to Motor Square Garden in East Liberty. Mrs. Marshall is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Trey and Elisa Marshall, of Pittsburgh, PA; her brother, Ralph Smith; and four nieces and nephews. The family held a private ceremony for her cremation. Family suggests memorials to the Professor Thomas A. TAMINO JOSEPH G. Of Plum, age 76, on Monday, July 17, 2017, peacefully at his home in the presence of his family. Beloved husband of Karen (Wark) Tamino for 52 years; loving father of Mila (Rob) Young, of Morgantown, WV and Joseph (Lisa) Tamino, of Harrison City; treasured grandfather of Alaina, Joshua, and Jason Young, Derek and David Tamino; dear brother of Glenn (Gerri) Tamino, of North Braddock. Joe was a 1959 graduate of North Braddock Scott High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1963. He later graduated from Marietta College in Ohio with a B.S. in Economics where he became the owner of the Timeout Bar and Restaurant. Joe also owned an establishment in San Diego before returning to Pittsburgh where he had a career as a residential painter from which he retired. Joe was a Civil War history buff and a lifelong fan of Pittsburgh sports teams. Joe's funeral will be private to his family. MAHLA SISTER M. JEREMY, SC Age 89, died at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill in Greensburg, on July 17, 2017. Born in Pittsburgh, Sister Jeremy entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1951, from Sacred Heart Parish, Shadyside. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. and Helen (Henke) Mahla; a brother, Joseph A., Jr. She is survived by cousins. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, education, social studies from Penn State University and a master's degree in education of the deaf from the University of Illinois. Sister Jeremy taught students of the junior and high school levels in schools of the Altoona-Johnstown and Pittsburgh dioceses. From 1962 until 1969, she taught at St. Joseph High School in Kang Jin, South Korea and volunteered to return there from 1992-1993 to teach English. When she returned from Korea in 1969, Sister Jeremy was assigned to teach at the DePaul School for Speech and Hearing, a tenure that extended to 2000, when she spent a year in Fort Portal, Uganda, East Africa, as a liaison with the Daughters of St. Therese of the Child Jesus. She taught computer skills to the sisters and offered assistance to them in developing their English speaking and writing skills. When she returned from Africa, Sister Jeremy taught science and mathematics at Seton-LaSalle High School from 2001 until 2006, when she returned to DePaul School for Hearing and Speech. There she taught science and mathematics until 2009. She volunteered to return to Korea from 1992-1993 and again from 2009-2011 to teach English there. An adventurer with boundless energy, Sister Jeremy took every opportunity to explore the world, whether through completing an Outward Bound survival challenge or becoming a licensed scuba diver. She was also a flutist, a poet, a photographer and a cosmologist. Her life as a Sister of Charity was her heart. She recorded, “For me, religious life has made the Word visible. It is visible in the enlightenment of the Scriptures and opportunities for spiritual growth; in the unity of common prayer and the quiet private prayer; in the love of my family and friends and the consideration and generosity of my sisters; in the excitement of discovering the wonders of God's creation and striving to awaken students to its beauty as a science teacher; in all the students I've had the privilege to teach, especially the deaf children, and in being missioned to live and teach the 'people of God' in diverse cultures and in developing empathy for them.” Arrangements: Visitation: Wednesday, July 19 , 2017, 3-7 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017, 2-4 p.m. Vigil : Wednesday, July 19, 2017, 7 p.m. Funeral: Thursday, July 20 , 2017, 4 p.m. Caritas Christi Motherhouse, Mt. TRAVIS THOMAS ORD Age 72, of West Mifflin, passed into eternal rest on July 17, 2017, at Southwestern Assisted Living, in West Mifflin. Tom was born on July 9, 1945, in Pittsburgh the son of the late Walter L. and Lillie E. (Betty) Ord Travis. Tom spent most of his early life on the west coast returning to West Mifflin in 1960. He attended West Mifflin South High School and graduated with the class of 1963. He attaneded Mansfield University of Pennsylvania and Point Park University, then served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed by US Steel Duquesne Works but moved back to Oregon in 1988 and was employed as a Communications Specialist with the Credit Union Association of Oregon, in Beaverton. He enjoyed living in close proximity to the ocean as well as renewing childhood friendships. Tom was also active in the Loyal Order of the Moose in Duquesne, PA and in Hillsboro, Oregon. He loved playing golf and fishing and was an avid volunteer fundraiser for children in need. He returned again to West Mifflin in 2013 to be close to his children and granddaughter. He is survived by his son, Thomas O. Travis, Jr. and his daughter, Rebecca “Becki” Fanala, both of West Mifflin; and granddaughter, Madison Paige Lapp, of White Oak; also siblings, Lynda (Ralph) Raniero, of Viola, IL, Ralph (Irene) Travis, of Jefferson Hills, and Nancy (John) Stolley, of Muscatine, IA; and several nieces and nephews. At his request there will be no public visitation or service. If desired, contributions may be made in his memory to Mooseheart, a residential care facility for children and teens in need and a place very close to Tom's heart.
