SIMONS ROBERT DEWAIN ''BOB” Age 75, recently of East Butler and formerly of Allison Park, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at his home. He was born June 22, 1941 in Buckhannon, WV, the son of the late Otha W. Simons, Sr., and Sadie (Bennett) Simons. Bob recently retired from Manheim and had previously worked as a fabricator at J.W. Steel in Mars and a purchaser for Spang and Co. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and being a longtime member of The Senior Softball Association of North Park where he had traveled and played in many tournaments. Bob loved looking forward to the annual family reunions, he enjoyed going to the beach with his family, and taking regular visits to his nephew Jim Simons' home in Charleston, South Carolina. He enjoyed spending quality time with his three girls; his grandchildren; and his great-grandchildren. He especially took pride in attending all of their activities and sporting events. He was a member of East Butler Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Mina L. (Hensell) Simons, of Allison Park, of whom he had been a long time caregiver of; his previous wife (mother of his three children), Irene E. Simons, of Butler; his three daughters, Renee L. Simons and significant other (John Jacobs), of Butler, Elizabeth "Beth" A. (Shane) Ozella, of East Butler, and Roberta I. (Jason) Prementine, of Butler; seven grandchildren, Tama (Rachel) Cassel, of MI, Brittany (Ed) Steele, of Butler, Daniel L. Steele II, of East Butler, and Hunter, Lexis, Brady, and Levi Prementine, all of Butler; two great-grandchildren, Rhiannon "Rosebud" Cassel, of MI, and Jace Robert Steele, of Butler; six stepchildren, Steve Socash, Kathryn Socash, Susan (Denny) Dutka, Amy (T.J.) Beyer, Beth (Doug) Schoedel, and Ronald (Gingy) Socash, Jr.; a number of step-grandchildren; and step-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews; and cousins. HIRSCH HELEN L. “LEE LEE” Age 92, of New Haven Court, died Friday morning, April 28, 2017, at the V.N.A. Inpatient Hospice. Born October 21, 1924 in Bellvue, PA she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin F. Parlett. Helen was a graduate of Avalon High School and also Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Christ Church at Grove Farm in Sewickley, PA. Surviving is her son, Edward C. Hirsch, Jr. of Uxbridge, Mass.; one daughter, Nance (Raymond) Conlon of Renfrew; grandchildren, Tyler and Verity Hirsch, Katie, Abby, Molly and Libby Conlon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Hirsch who died April 5, 1999; also her sister, Nancy P. Barry. ESTOK ELIZABETH "BETTY" Age 94, of Lynnport, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, PA. She was born in Pittsburgh, daughter of Thomas and Mary (Himchak) Kacsuta. She was married to the late John C. Estok who died in 1983. During World War II, Betty worked for the federal government and helped organize and establish war time rationing in Pittsburgh. After the war, she went to work in public relations for the Pittsburgh Press and later with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She worked with the Press Old News Boys to hold fundraisers in support of Pittsburgh Children's Hospital. She also worked on the Pittsburgh Marathon, the Annual Arts Festival and the summer Golf Tournament. She was a judge at the paper's weekly spelling bees that chose students to continue on to the national contest. She also helped research and edit three books published by the Press: The Go Guide Travel Book, the Press Cookbook and the Hunting-Fishing Guide. She retired in 1986 and moved to Lynnport to be near her daughter, son-in-law, and beloved grandchildren. Betty was a member of Jacob's Church, New Tripoli, PA. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothea and David Stepan; her granddaughter, Katherine Stepan, of Buena Vista, CO, grandson, Major Michael Stepan, his wife, Vanessa (Bedard); and two great-grandchildren, Bradley and Arlyn, of Bossier City, LA; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by brothers, Thomas, John, George, Joseph, Paul, and Edward Kacsuta and sisters, Anne Walker and Margaret King. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her Funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Jacob's Church, 8373 King's Highway, New Tripoli, PA 18066, with a calling hour beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Scott Shay will officiate. KLINGENSMITH ROBERT G. Of Oakmont, passed peacefully on April 26, 2017. Born on October 6, 1925, to the late Charles and Ida Klingensmith, he was raised in Harmar Twp. on the Harmar Golf Club. Beloved brother of Louetta Klingensmith and Dorothy Wygant. Also survived by four nephews and six nieces. Preceded in death by brothers, C. Thomas, Kenneth, Stanley, Chester; and a niece, Karen. Robert served in the Army Air Force during WWII as a plane mechanic from May 22, 1944, and was honorably discharged on November 9, 1945. When he was out of the service, he continued to work on the golf course as well as one near Palmetto, FL. After 1955, the family sold the Harmar Golf Course and Robert, his oldest brother, and dad designed and built the Briarwood Golf Club in West York, PA. He was superintendent of the course and at a few others before going to the Foxburg Golf Club and eventually retiring from the Kane Golf Club. BONDI CLAUDIA Age 84, of McKeesport, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Claudia was born March 13, 1933, the youngest of seven children of Russian immigrant parents, Anasim and Anna Arashinko. Claudia graduated from the McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing, as well as being a member of the first graduating class of the McKeesport School for Anesthesia. She spent her entire career as a nurse anesthetist at McKeesport Hospital where she always enjoyed helping others. After retirement, Claudia volunteered for Meals on Wheels and kept active at St. Gregory's Russian Orthodox Church where she was a lifetime member. Claudia is survived by her husband, Donald; daughter, Kimberly of Tampa, Florida; her brother, Jack (Joan) Arin of Baldwin; sister-in-law, Sandra (Ronald) Brooks of McKeesport; numerous nieces and nephews; three cats and granddogs, Mzee and Mika. The Bondi family would like to extend their thanks to all of Claudia's home healthcare workers who treated her with the utmost care and compassion. SROKA JOHN ANTHONY “JACK” Age 80, of Lancaster, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. Jack served in the United States Marine Corps. In 2005, Jack took a big leap and formed his own company, Jack Sroka Company. He was inducted into the Greater Pittsburgh Bowling Hall of Fame (1990), K of C Art Bevenger Sportsmanship Award (2002), Southeastern Ohio USBC Area Bowling Hall of Fame (2016). Jack was a member of the FOE Eagles, Moose, and K of C. He bowled 50 years in the USBC Open Championships. As of 2016 there have been 205 bowlers in history with 50 years of bowling, Jack was No. 203.
