JACOB MARGARETE (KRAUS) (BLUM) A longtime resident of the Monroeville area, passed away March 2, 2017, at her home. Born in 1932 in Wurzburg, Germany, Margarete completed certification of in-home childcare services in the 1950's. She is loved and respected by the German community known through her food demonstrations at McGinness Sisters, East Pittsburgh Sangerbund (now defunct), and Teutonia Mannenchoir on the Northside. She was a loyal supporter of the Lutheran Church. Margarete was the daughter of the late Elisabeth Agnes Eckert and Anton Kraus of Wurzburg, Germany. She immigrated to her adopted homeland, America with her mother and second husband, John Blum. She served for many years on the Republican Committee of Pittsburgh serving with Patriotism and pride in America. Margarete was the devoted wife of the late Walter L. Jacob for 56 years living their early years in Wilkinsburg. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Robert and wife, Jeannine of Nevada; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her many friends and throughout the community where she was always a bright light to everyone to whom she came into contact. In addition, she organized many church events as well and served in the Oakmont Jr. Women's Club. Antoinette's greatest joy besides her family was her love of fashion trends and exceptional baking skills. Her Greek specialties are well known by everyone that loves her.
