SOBEK ELLEN MARIE (PEKAR) Died on February 22, 2017, in Marietta, GA, following a brief illness. She was 85. Mrs. Sobek was born on October 31, 1931, in Braddock, PA, to her parents John and Catherine Pekar. She graduated from Scott High School in North Braddock, PA and Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh, PA. She married David Sobek in 1956, and the couple had two children. The Sobeks moved to Marietta, GA in 1977 and were founding members of the Catholic Church of St. Ann, where Ellen served as a volunteer organist during the early days of the parish. In addition to raising her family, she also worked in the financial industry as an administrative assistant. Mrs. Sobek is survived by her husband of over 60 years, David Sobek; her son, David (Page) Sobek, of Marietta, GA; daughter, Dana Rivard (Jean-Francois) of Cumming, GA; three grandchildren, David Sobek and Julia and Nicholas Rivard, and her brothers, John (Betty Ann) Pekar of Pittsburgh, PA and Stephen Pekar, of Johnstown, PA. She was preceded in death by her brother, Regis. Mrs. Sobek's life will be celebrated during a private, family ceremony at a later date. MUSSORI ELIZABETH V. Age 93, of Clairton, passed away surrounded by loving members of her family at her daughter's home in Newark, DE, on Sunday, February 26, 2017. Born May 26, 1923, in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Carmine and Maria (Zuppa) DeFlavis. A hardworking and independent woman, Elizabeth worked until she was 78 for Westinghouse and CCAC and lived alone until well into her 90s. In her spare time, she enjoyed analyzing family and friends' handwriting and loved to crochet. In fact, every member of her large family has at least one of her Afghans. All in all, her family will remember her as an amazing mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She is survived by her children, Keenan (Linda) Shepard of Jacksonville, NC, Marjorie Shepard Bateman of Charlotte, NC, Donna (Judson) Shepard Stringfellow of Charlotte, NC, Betsy (Darryl) Fluhme of Homestead, Guy (Ann) Mussori of Clairton, and Gina (Donnie Cecil) Mussori of Newark, DE; her grandchildren, Karmin and LaNier Shepard, Nikki and Brian Bateman, Britt Tuite, Derrick and Ashley Fluhme, and Kristen, Guy, and Erin Mussori; her 11 great- grandchildren; her sister, Margaret Campoli of Jefferson Hills; and also nieces and nephews. SCHULTZ DONALD REGIS “DON” Age 83, of Verona, formerly of Monroeville, died peacefully Monday, February 27, 2017, in Golden Living Center, Murrysville. He was born May 24, 1933, in Millvale, a son of the late Stanley and Mary (Kozak) Schultz. Prior to retiring, Don was the owner of Schultz Furniture Service, Monroeville. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, having served as a captain with 101st Airborne Paratroopers. He was a Purple Heart recipient and he was also awarded three Bronze Stars. He was a life member and former commander of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 72. Don was a member of VFW Post 92, New Kensington, for which he refurbished the helicopter that is located along Route 56. He was a member of the Plum American Legion. Don was a longtime boater and also served as a deputy with the PA Waterways Patrolmen. His motto was, “Don't die or get married in the summer”. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved pet and companion, Sky. Don will be greatly missed by his beloved family. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 45 years, Donna J. (Robertson) Griffith Schultz; children, Larry Schultz and his wife, Joyce, of Greensburg, Deb Brewer, of Delmont, Lorrie Sarver, of Orlando, Florida and Donald K. Schultz, also of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Kurt D. Schultz and Krista Long-Schultz; and many friends. JURICK Sr. GENEVIEVE MARY, OSF Sister Genevieve Mary Jurick, formerly Sister Assumpta, a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis United States Province, in her 76th year of Religious Profession, died on February 26, 2017, at Marian Hall Home in Pittsburgh, PA. She was 95. Sister entered the community from Holy Rosary Parish in Clarksburg, WV in 1938 and professed her first vows in 1940 at Mount Assisi Convent Chapel in Pittsburgh, PA. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from Carlow College in Pittsburgh, PA, and a master of education degree in guidance and counseling from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Sister Genevieve Mary taught the elementary grades in various schools in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts; high school level at Monongahela Valley Catholic in Charleroi, PA; tutoring at Mount Assisi Academy in Pittsburgh, PA; and was a guidance counselor at Notre Dame High School in Clarksburg, WV. Sister Genevieve Mary ministered as a staff aide at the Benedictine Adult Day Care in Pittsburgh, PA and was on staff at Marian Hall Home. Her last 11 years of life were spent as a resident of Marian Hall Home as a faithful participant in the prayer ministry. Sister Genevieve Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John Joseph and Mary (Krisak) Jurick; brothers, Joseph, Jay and John; and sisters, Regina Ann and Mary Louise. She is survived by her religious community; her sister, Bernadette Marie; brother, Andrew; sister-in-law, Margaret; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. The viewing will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Mount Assisi Convent in Pittsburgh, PA. STEBLER PHILIP F., Jr. Age 88, of Cranberry Twp., on Sunday, February 26, 2017; Husband of the late Dorothy "Dotty" (Fennell) Stebler; beloved father of Edward Stebler, Karen Nadrash (Richard), Dennis Stebler (Donna), Gary Stebler (Nancy), and the late Kenneth Stebler; loving brother of Marianne Simile, James Stebler, and the late Edward Stebler; proud grandfather of 11; and great-grandfather of 17. He also volunteered his time and expertise in a number of associations, such as the National Costumers Association, the Builders' Association of Metropolitan Pgh., and the North Suburban Builders Association. In addition to industry associations, Phil contributed to numerous civic groups. He served on the North Hills School Board, the treasurer of the North Hills Secondary School Council, the past president of CODA (Concerned Citizens of Drug Abuse), a past trustee of PREP (Pittsburgh Recreation and Education Program), the founder and past president of the Pittsburgh Toastmasters #2955, the first vice president of the PA Jaycees and National Director of the US Jaycees. Phil was chairman of both the Marshall Twp. recreation board and the Marshal Twp. auditors. In the Cranberry Twp. area, Phil was very active in VFW Post 879, serving as chaplain, and briefly served on the Cranberry Twp. Advisory Panel. Although Phil dedicated much of his time to professional and civic duties, he still made time with his family to enjoy activities such as trekking (inventing and receiving a patent), boating, waterskiing, scuba diving, and snowmobiling.
