DOUGHERTY JAY Age 73, husband of Donna Dougherty, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly on May 3, 2016, at their house in Florida. He was born August 3, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA. He attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Jay retired in 2004 after being self-employed and owner of The Boston Sales Group, an independent manufacturers' rep agency for 25 years. Jay was a resident of Madison for almost 40 years. Jay and Donna, married in 1964, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Jay was a devoted father who cherished time spent with family. He enjoyed working in the yard and garden and spending time with his seven grandchildren. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, enjoyed bocce, model trains, golfing and spent most of his time gardening. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Holiday Food Baskets. He will be most remembered for his sarcastic wit. In addition to wife, Donna, he is survived and will be dearly missed by: his three sons, Daniel of St. Pete Beach, FL; Sean, his wife, Dana, their son, Shane of San Jose, CA and daughter, Sarah of Boston, MA; Jeff, his wife, Melissa, their three daughters, Rachel, Hannah and Julia of Madison, CT; his one daughter, Dara Terrio, her husband, Peter, their two sons, Michael and Ryan of Madison, CT; Jay's siblings, Daniel, Sister Carol, Michael, Maureen, Timothy and Kevin.
