Robert Morris University then hired her as Head Coach of The Women's Rowing Team where she has served for the past ten seasons. More than a coach, she was loved by all the classes of girls on her rowing team, cheering them on, mentoring and supporting them not only on the water but also in life. She touched countless lives and will be greatly missed. She was a member of Discovery Church, U.S. Rowing Association and Women's Coaching Academy. PETRARCA MARSHA B. Of Butler, PA, passed away at the VNA Inpatient Hospice on Sunday, September 27, 2015. She was born on May 8, 1940, in Grove City, PA to the late Nicholas A. Petrarca and Carrie (White) Petrarca. She was a 1958 Grove City High School graduate and a 1963 graduate from Slippery Rock State Teachers College (now SRU); she later received a Master's degree in Library Science from University of Pittsburgh. Marsha was an elementary educator for the Butler Area School District for 39 years, and held many leadership positions for the teachers in the BEA and the PSEA. Upon her retirement, she continued to serve the school district as a math consultant. Her passion for serving continued through community volunteering and mission ministry. In Butler County, Marsha volunteered with the United Way, Butler Hospital Auxiliary and was a charter member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Her mission work took her abroad to India and South Korea. One of her favorite mission trips was here in the US serving the Navajo Indians in Window Rock, Arizona. Shirley L. Kerr, a friend and travel companion shared in both Marsha's ministry and travel interests. They enjoyed visiting many foreign countries together. All who knew Marsha will continue to speak of the rare treasure she was in to this world. A sincere, hard-working, honest, caring, giving, concerned, and godly women. Marsha is survived by her sister, Charine (Sherry) Hovanec of Butler, PA; and her sister-in-law, Ann Petrarca of Hermitage, PA; her nieces and nephews whom Marsha considered her children, Stephen (Christina) Petrarca, John (Cindi) Petrarca, Cynthia Ann Petrarca, Anne-Rene (Morgan) Petrarca-Smith, Matthew (Colleen) Hovanec and Rachel (Jeffrey) Hovanec-Spirer. Marsha's endless love continued to be shared with the many great-nieces and nephews who were in her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wayne R. BARKAS THOMAS Age 82, of Marietta, passed away at home on Friday, September 18, 2015, after a heroic 20-year battle with cancer. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Tom was son to Greek and Italian immigrants whose drive to escape poverty and pursue the American Dream continued to fuel Tom his entire life. Tom graduated from the University of Pittsburgh on the GI Bill and began a 25-year career in industrial chemical sales. During that time, he moved his family from their ethnic roots of Pittsburgh to Atlanta when he received a promotion to Executive Vice President. In tune with the land boom in Georgia, he redirected his sales career to commercial land brokerage where he remained active throughout his 70s. Additionally, Tom had many extracurricular talents. He belonged to the 300 series bowling club, the 700 bowling club (score 745), participated in 32 Atlanta Peachtree Road races consecutively (the last one at age 80), finished the NYC Marathon in four hours 57 minutes at age 55, was an avid snow skier and competitive tennis player. He also qualified and played the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas on two occasions and was a 32nd degree Master Mason of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry by the age 36. Regardless of the time spent working and pursuing his other interests, he always made time for his family and friends, including weekly movies and a variety of other events with his grandchildren. Tom made quite an impact wherever life took him and will be fondly remembered for his jovial spirit and strong constitution. Tom was predeceased by his wife, Mary Barkas; and son, Thomas J. Barkas. He is survived by his wife, Claren Alexander; daughter, Denise Carrier (Kendal); stepdaughter, Marin Wells (David); and five grandchildren. REED VIVIAN COPELAND (DAVIES) Age 101, formerly of Palm Beach, FL, a longtime resident of Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community in Cranberry Township, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, September 25, 2015. Born November 9, 1913, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Laura and Samuel A. Copeland, Sr. Vivian was a 1931 graduate from Winchester Thurston School in Pittsburgh. She attended Ohio Wesleyan for two years. Vivian belonged to Shannopin Country Club in Ross Township and was an active golfer, bowler and bridge player with friends. Prior to moving to Florida, she was a longtime volunteer at Magee Hospital and was an active member of the Eastern Star. While in Palm Beach, Vivian was ordained an Elder in Lakeside Presbyterian Church and was a lifelong active member of the Presbyterian Church. Vivian traveled extensively in the United States and in Europe; she traveled twice to Israel with Rev. Dr. John Guest's group from Christ Church at Grove Farm. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Carole Fritsche Timblin (Terry) of the North Hills and Bonnie Davies Gilbert (Gary) of MD; two stepdaughters, Dr. Lois Davies of AZ and Adele Davies Beal (Don) of MI; nephew, Andrew L. BRADLEY WILLIAM P. Age 91, of Monroeville, on September 29, 2015. Beloved husband of the late June (Marino) Bradley; loving father of Diane (Don Grubbs) Bradley, John (Jenny) Bradley and Megan (Cindy Hay) Bradley; and stepchildren, John, Kurt and Brad Marino and the late Laurie Marino; dear grandfather of Michael (Sarah) Bradley and Bryce Bradley-Hay; devoted great-grandfather of Sophia Bradley; brother of Margaret (late Fran) Schmitt, Daniel (Mary Jane) Bradley, Paul (Marg) Bradley and the late Kathleen Bradley and John Bradley. Bill proudly served in the Army during WWII and retired from Equitable Gas after 35 years of service. He was a Monroeville Democratic Committeeman and Councilman. He also loved playing golf and being active in the Boy Scouts of America. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC.
