COLOSIMO JOSEPHINE M. ON THURS...

COLOSIMO JOSEPHINE M. On Thursday, February 5, 2015, after 100 years of life on this earth, Josephine Mathilda Colosimo joined her many loved ones who preceded her in death. Welcoming her to the Heaven she now enjoys are her beloved father and mother, James and Jenny Colosimo; her caring brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Rose Colosimo; and her cherished nieces, Arlene Kologie and Jacqueline Colosimo. The family, friends and Godchildren she leaves behind will remember her as a hard worker, a devoted caregiver to her family, a proud employee of the Pittsburgh Press, a wonderful conversationalist, a person of deep faith, a feisty woman with clear expectations of herself and others all the way until the end of this final chapter of her personal life story. When "Aunt Jo" retired from the Press, there was a piece in the "Newsmakers" section of the paper that highlighted her career. "Josephine Colosimo deserved a medal and not a watch after 50 years at the Pittsburgh Press. A red badge of courage would have been apropos. She worked as a secretary for 15 editors!" As a retirement memory, Chuck Livolsi, a Press artist, hung a cartoon on the wall behind her desk with caricatures of 14 of those editors, including John Troan, a friend to this day. On her retirement day, she was escorted home by managing editor, Ralph Brem, in a chauffeured car. At a recent gathering of Press employees, Josephine delighted in seeing those with whom she worked. She entertained her colleagues as well as sharing amazing, funny and poignant stories of those years. When a nurse at the hospital asked Josephine what her secret to longevity was, she said it was the fact that she lived a happy life, reminding the young nurse, however, that happy doesn't mean easy. May the inspiration she was to many and the good things she taught us in her lifetime, be sources of our comfort and happiness as we remember her and celebrate a life lovingly and joyfully shared. Friends will be received at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, INC., 4900 Centre Avenue at Devonshire Street (freyvogelfuneralhome.com) on Sunday, February 8, 2015, from 1-7 p.m. Funeral Monday, Mass of Christian Burial in St. Paul Cathedral at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Cathedral.
