CAREY DOROTHY (KATCHUR) Of West Mifflin, on Thursday, January 15, 2015, where she was surrounded by the love of her husband and family. She grew up on N. 3rd St., in Duquesne and was preceded in death by her parents, Susan and George Katchur; and her sister, Florence (Katchur) Zuzo. She is survived by the young man from S. 4th St. in Duquesne who became her loving husband of 63 years, Andrew J. “Bud” Carey who is retired from Union Switch and Signal. They have five children who will forever be indebted to their mother for her kindness and love, Deborah (Carey) Stevens and her husband, Hank of Knoxville, TN, Tom and wife, Joyce (Plake) of Peters Twp., Linda (Carey) Stetz of Mars, David and wife, Sue of Plum and Barbara (Carey) Henninger and her husband, Harry of Mt. Washington. Dorothy graduated from Duquesne High School and was an administrative assistant at West Penn Power in downtown Pittsburgh until she left to raise a family. She enjoyed the opportunity to travel with her husband on his business trips to New York City, San Francisco, New Orleans and Toronto and many other great places. Upon his retirement they took a wonderful trip to Hawaii. For more than 20 years “Dot” and “Bud” enjoyed long early morning walks along the beaches of Hilton Head, SC. She also adored her seven grandchildren, Katie Stevens, Ryan Carey, Janel Carey, Caitlin Carey, Amanda (Stetz) Copeland and husband, Ryan, Rachel Stetz and Megan Stetz and she particularly enjoyed teaching her grandchildren about sea turtles and the joys of the beach. Dorothy is also survived by her wonderfully caring brother, George J. Katchur of Irwin; and her sister-in-law, Ann (Carey) Sage of Philadelphia; as well as many caring cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her loving caregivers as well as the caring Medi Home Health Hospice workers and medical personnel who provided support and comfort and made it possible for her to stay at home. Friends received 2-4 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME, INC., 7441 Washington St. Mass of Christian Burial in the Resurrection Roman Catholic Church, West Mifflin on Monday morning at 10 a.m. with Father Miro officiating. Everyone please meet at the church. Interment in the Calvary Cemetery. Wilson and the late Ralph Wilson; sister of Carol Carlin and Marilyn Delach; aunt of Nicole and Patrick Sommers, Karlin (Jessie) Lamberto and Keith Delach. Bonnie worked at the Duquesne Club in Pittsburgh for many years. Bonnie dearly loved feeding birds wherever she went. They were her kids and always came to see her. Bonnie cherished her family, she expressed her love for us by cooking. “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. He was born in Pittsburgh on March 2, 1933, to the late George F. and Marie (Maloney) Westerman. Beloved husband for 19 years to Elizabeth (Cox) Westerman; loving father of Dave Westerman (Nisha) of Thailand, Dean Westerman (Roxanne) of East Liverpool, OH, Dana Carpenetti (Donald) of North Carolina; stepfather of Jill Savka (Michael) of Fair Oaks; brother of Mary Locante (Lou) of Pittsburgh, William Westerman (Annie) of San Antonio, TX and the late George, Jr., Robert and Daniel Westerman; former husband of the late Janet (Benincasa) Westerman. David was in sales most of his life. He was a member of Senior Men's Club of Sewickley and the Veteran's Breakfast Club. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. BINGLER SARAH JANE (DRYER) At 2 a.m., on January 14, 2015, at age 91, Sarah peacefully passed at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital surrounded by family. Sarah was born in Baldwin Borough (Pittsburgh, PA) on March 17, 1923, to John U. and Sarah J. (O'Neill) Dryer; beloved wife of the late William F. Bingler; mother of Linda J. and John Dickinson (Sparks, NV), Judith L. Bingler (Tampa, FL), Barbara J. Nawrot (San Antonio, TX); grandmother of Rebecca A. and Mark T. Hopkins (Pensacola, FL), Rachel L. Nawrot and Josh T. Keys (San Antonio, TX); great- grandmother of Atticus E. Hopkins (Pensacola, FL); and beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews. Sarah was number seven and last of this large and loving family of 11 siblings. Janie, so she was called, was preceded by all of her nine sisters; two brothers; and parents. Sarah was a stay-at-home mom until age 44 when she became a "temporary" school crossing guard (which turned out to be 19 years of service). Her precious family was her life's goal and heart's desire was to be the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother possible - she succeeded. From her loving family, we will hold her in our hearts forever and for those those who knew Janie, we send our love and wishes for health and happiness. HOWARD JOHN E. "JACK" Age 81, of Harmony, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015, while under the care of Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born January 23, 1933, in Ingram, he was the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Walker) Howard. Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a longtime member of Park Presbyterian Church in Zelienople where he served as an Elder and adult Sunday school teacher. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 27 years, Helen Katherine (Ifft) Howard whom he married on January 23, 1988; his three children, Douglas (Susan) Moe of Philadelphia, Michael (Tammy) Murphy of Pittsburgh and Sandra (Joe) Krainer of Crofton, MD; his son-in-law, Robert Trohaugh of Pittsburgh; his nine grandchildren, John, Matthew and Jeffrey Moe, Sarah and Jessica Trohaugh, Richard Stacy, Jared Campbell Murphy, Taralyn Murphy and Aubrey Krainer. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Trohaugh; his sister, Geri Emerson; and his two brothers, Walter Howard and James Howard. Kathleen enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Italy, gardening, reading and learning new things. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, for helping those in need. Kathleen sacrificed for others and knew that "the journey was part of the gift." She was a devoted, caring, giving and loving mother, grandmother and friend. Kathleen's kindhearted personality led everyone who met her to greatly love and care for her. DUNN WILLIAM JOSEPH Age 91, of Mt. Lebanon, on January 15, 2015. Beloved husband of Mary Kathleen (Lang) Dunn for 67 years; loving father of Carol Ziss, Joanne Nader (Stephen), Kathy Lewis (John), William Dunn (Pamela), James Dunn (Elizabeth), Maryann Dunn, David Dunn (Tammy), Christine Craemer (Steve), and Michael Dunn (Melanie); cherished grandfather of 20; and great- grandfather of 14. A 1942 graduate of Central High School and a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a P-47 Thunderbolt Pilot who flew more than 90 missions. He was a single engine fighter pilot, flying more than 90 missions. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1947, the same year that he married his wife, Mary Kathleen, and pursued a career as a manufacturer sales rep, and he never cheated at golf.
