POWELL WILLIAM J. Of Pittsburgh, died of natural causes on December 31, 2014, at age 86. A native of the Bronx, New York, he graduated from Iona College in New Rochelle, New York in 1950. He spent a few years as a high school teacher in New York City and then began a long career as an advertising executive. He was a copywriter and later creative director at agencies in New York, Pittsburgh, and Chicago. He briefly taught advertising at Temple University in Philadelphia. He is survived by his ex-wife, Mary Eileen Powell of Sewickley; twin brother, Ralph of Paramus, New Jersey; sons, William, Jr., Michael, and Robert (of Shanghai, O'Hara, and Avalon); and grandchildren, Helena, Griffin, Canain, Simon, and Abby. SHOUP ROY E. On January 1, 2015, surrounded by his family, Roy E. Shoup, 87, of McCandless Township, died peacefully. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Lois Shoup. Devoted father of their three sons, Rex, Rob and Scott Shoup. He loved his eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Roy was born in Monroe, Clarion County. He resided in Export, PA where he had lived since 1965, born April 18, 1924, in Cliff Mine, PA to the late Clara (Wilkening) and Louis Wimer. Beloved husband of 65 years to Jacquelyn (Dempsey) Wimer; beloved father of Martin (Julianne) Wimer, Pamela (Lee) Weise, Kurt Wimer, Vanessa (Barry) Holden and Jeffrey (Holly) Wimer; cherished grandfather of Brendan (Jennifer) Wimer, Mark (Kaitlyn) Wimer, Sara Holden, Brett Holden, Julia Wimer, Hope Wimer and Daniel (Jessica) Weise; adored great-grandfather of Liam and Benson Wimer and a third one on the way; brother of Ronald (Anna Mae) Wimer and the late Leroy Wimer. DUBYAK ANDREW Age 86, of Pleasant Hills, formerly of West Mifflin, on New Year's Day 2015, peacefully with his family at his side. He was the son of the late John and Anna (Yevcic) Dubyak. Prior to retirement, he was an auto body mechanic. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Dubyak loved following his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities. He enjoyed feeding the deer and squirrels around his house and his best friend, his dog, Pebbles. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Borgon) Dubyak; father of Andrew D. (Rosie) Dubyak of Pleasant Hills and the late John D. WIATER LINDA L. (MILLER) Of Pitcairn, age 66, on Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Beloved wife of Thomas E. Wiater for 42 years; loving mother of Neil E. (Melissa) Wiater of Carnegie and Charles E. Wiater of Pitcairn; proud grandmother to Evan Yaros, who called her "Lola" and Lexi Wiater, who called her "Emma"; precious sister of Karen (late Bill) Barrett of North Versailles; also survived by nieces and nephews. Linda's family wishes to offer special thanks for the care and loved shared by her friends during her illness: Carol Hoke, Michelle Telli, Judy O'Keefe, Nick Mouring and Janie Zook, and also to the staff of Family Hospice. Linda was a retired Registered Nurse, a 1969 graduate from Braddock Hospital School of Nursing, where she began her nursing career. She then was employed at LGAR in Swissvale and later worked as a private duty nurse. The last 25 years of her nursing career were spent in the Psychiatric Department of McKeesport Hospital from where she retried in 2011 and was a member of the SEI Union. Linda loved reading, thrift store shopping, playing Pinochle and enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City. She also was an excellent cook and a season ticket holder to the Pittsburgh Opera. STANDISH WILLIAM L. Age 84, died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 1, 2015. The beloved husband of 52 years to Marguerite Oliver; loving father to Baird, N. Graham, James and Constance; adoring grandfather to Will, Audrey, Wren, Linden, North, Shea, Erin, Daisy and Lydia. After Yale and UVA Law School, Judge Standish was an attorney at Reed Smith Shaw & McClay. He began working at the firm as a law clerk in 1956 and worked his way to a partner, a position he held from 1964-1980. He was elected to the Court of Common Pleas in 1980 and appointed by President Reagan to the Federal Court in 1987. He spent 32 years as a judge and has practiced law for almost 60 years. He has served in many civic organizations such as Sewickley Valley YMCA, Association of Yale Alumni, Western PA School for the Deaf, Sewickley Cemetery, Laughlin Children's Center, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America, and numerous professional organizations.
