NANCY M. AMBRASS Age 69, of Lewistown, PA formerly of Pittsburgh, died March 2, 2020 at her residence. Born December 19, 1950 in Meshoppen, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Joyce (Manning) Frederici. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles E. Ambrass, Jr. whom she married in 1972. Nancy will be missed by her children, Allison Brown of Spring Mills, Holly Ambrass of Newville, Leanne Ambrass-Horner of York, Nancy Lynn Ambrass of Pittsburgh and Charles E. JAMES W. OBRINGER Age 87, of Eighty Four, Nottingham Township, died Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born June 21, 1932 in Wilmerding, a son of the late Walter and Agnes Marflak Obringer. Mr. Obringer was retired as a design draftsman with the former Mesta Machine in Pittsburgh and as a bus driver for Peters Township School District. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Finleyville, the Pittsburgh South Hills Keystone Chorus, Washington Festival Chorale and was an original founder of the Thomas Youth League. Surviving are his wife, Lois Woistman Obringer, two sons, Michael Obringer of Eighty Four and Leonard Obringer (Terri) of Carnegie; two daughters, Karen Mathianas (Shawn) of Beaver and Christine Ambler (David) of Wharton ,NJ; two brothers, Regis Obringer of Pittsburgh and William Obringer of Hernado, FL; five grandchildren, Joshua (Donn), Ashley, Adam, Ashleigh and Ben; one great-grandson, Jayme; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at KEGEL FUNERAL HOME, INC., Tim P. Kegel, supervisor, David P. Kegel, director, 3560 Washington Avenue, in Finleyville. STELLA KRAVETSKY Age 86, of Bell Township, formerly of Bellevue, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020 in Monroeville Rehab and Wellness Center. Born May 30, 1933 in Bell Township, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Mary (Horney) Krywecki. Stella was a graduate of Bell Township High School. She was a secretary for Koppers of Pittsburgh for many years until her retirement in 1998. Stella was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Church of the Assumption in Bellevue. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and gardening. Stella loved the companionship of her German Shepherd, “Thor”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Kravetsky; sisters, Catherine and Anna Kravetsky. Stella is survived by her sister, Mary Jaconetta of Ingram; brother, Charles Kravetsky of Bell Township; and numerous nieces and nephews. At Stella's request, there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church 703 Indiana Ave., Saltsburg, PA 15681 Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 10 a.m. with Father John Harrold as celebrant. THELMA M. (SETTING) ANDREAS Age 72, a resident of Beaver Falls her entire life, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. Born September 29, 1947, in New Brighton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Betty (Klear) Setting. She loved her job and colleagues at Macy's Department Store working in various cosmetic departments. She also owned and operated a Beauty Salon for many years. She loved and cared for all of her many clients with many becoming dear friends. She had a passion for giving and making people smile and feel better about themselves. She not only made them more beautiful on the outside, she made them feel more beautiful on the inside. She was warm and welcoming to all and will be dearly missed. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith and trust in the Lord gave her strength and peace as she fiercely battled against her many afflictions. She showed us how to live and how to pass with grace and dignity. She was blessed with a large and loving family and is survived by her longtime companion, Jimmy Topper. She was a very loving and devoted mother of two sons, Sean (Carrie) Andreas and Seth Andreas. She was the adored Grammie of four grandsons, Kaiden Andreas, Kobe Andreas, Gabriel Andreas and Christian Andreas. She was the loving and loyal sister of Jo Anne Setting and Terri (Setting) Marshall (Sam Stanchak). She was blessed with two nephews, Bradley (Daniela) Marshall and Ryan (Rebecca) Marshall, one great-nephew, Joseph Marshall, three great-nieces, Averi Marshall, Gianna Marshall and Addison Marshall along with many other first, second and third cousins and many more family members. Thelma was also blessed with so many dear friends that wrapped her in a blanket of love and support throughout her entire life but especially in her last days when she needed them the most. A very special thank you to Lynne Youngdahl, Private Hospice Nurse and Gateway Hospice for the compassionate care and comfort they provided to our dear Thelma. Her family is forever grateful for helping to grant her wish of passing peacefully at home surrounded by family. The last few weeks of her life provided many wonderful moments that are now cherished memories. WALTER E. KOCH, JR. Age 95, of St. Barnabas, Gibsonia, PA, on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, passed away. Beloved husband of the late Margaret S. Koch; loving father of Susan K. (David) Isacco, David A. (Karan) Koch; proud grandfather of Dave (Rachel Cohen) Isacco, Alex (Maggie) Isacco, Mia Noelle Koch; and great-grandson, Arthur Isacco. Walter retired from Gulf Oil in 1982. He was Past Master of Lodge No. 45 F & A M and was Secretary for 23 years, also a member of Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh, Syria Shrine, the Masonic Vets, and the Cinosam Club of Mt. Washington. Walter proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II, was a plank owner of the USS Quapaw ATF (ocean going tug) and was part of the invasion of the Leyte Gulf, Phillipines. He was also a member of the National Association of Fleet Tug Sailors, the South Hills High School Alumni Association and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. NORMA JEAN (PHILLIPS) BARBER Age 88, a longtime resident of Coraopolis, passed away peacefully at Villa St. Joseph on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. She was born in Indianola on March 2, 1932, to the late Edward and Mabel (Peters) Phillips. On August 6, 2015, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Floyd “Dutch” Barber. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gary Barber. Norma is survived by her loving son, David (Linda) Barber of Center Township; her two grandsons, David (Kayla) Barber and Brandon Barber; and her three great-grandchildren, Alexander, Zachariah, and Isaiah; sister of Dorothy Salfrank of Florida, Joan Lansberry of Chippewa, William Phillips of California, the late Robert Phillips and Donald Phillips; also nieces and nephews; and her devoted dog, Homer. Norma was a caregiver to her parents, husband and son. A gentle, kind, and mild mannered lady, she was a wonderful homemaker and an animal lover. WAFORD "DENTON" DAILEY, III Age 86, of Cranberry Twp., passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020 while under the care of Concordia of Franklin Park. Born August 17, 1933 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Waford Denton Dailey, II and Dora Lockley Dailey. Denton proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed working at the Butler Auto Auction in Cranberry Twp., and as a ticket taker for Steeler's and Pirate's games, alongside some of his friends. He especially enjoyed coaching little league baseball and midget league football. Denton will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Denton J. Dailey of Butler; his three grandchildren, Thomas (Lauren) Fletcher, Susan (Brandon) Harlan, and Wayne Dailey; his four great-grandchildren, Jack, Luke and Elizabeth Harlan, and Josephine Belle Fletcher; his brother, Wayne (Linda) Dailey of Pittsburgh; three nephews and one niece, Randy, Jon, Andrew and Melissa, and several cousins. In addition to his parents, Denton was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jeanne B. Johnston Dailey, whom he married on October 13, 1956, and who passed away May 24, 2018; his daughter, Terri Lynn Fletcher, in 2013; and a brother, David Dailey. ERNEST A. "ERNIE" MIKEC On Wednesday, February 26, 2020, Ernest A. “Ernie” Mikec, age 91, of Ross Township, passed away. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Mary “Jean” (Unger) Mikec; loving father of Donald E. Mikec, Linda (Mike) Morelli of Morehead City, NC, and David (Patrice) Mikec; grandfather of Michael Morelli, Jr. (Beth), Rachel Morelli (Christopher) , Pamela (Patrick) Gauntner, David Mikec, Jr. (Colleen), Clinton (Rachel) Mikec and seven great- grandchildren with one on the way; brother of Thomas (Mary Ann) Mikec and Anthony (Priscilla) Mikec; preceded in death by siblings, Mary Felix, Frank, Herman and William Mikec. Ernie was a retired carpenter with Local Union #142, a US Army veteran of the Korean war and a member of the West View VFW. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a lifetime member of Millvale Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family at their Pymatuning cottage, North Carolina, and brother's farm. He was a very dedicated Pittsburgh sports fan. ARLENE R. COHEN On March 4, 2020, Arlene R. Cohen, loving Wife, Mother and Nana passed away peacefully at the age of 69. Arlene was born in Montreal, Quebec to Samuel and Elaine Rabinovitch. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from McGill University. On February 3, 1974, she married Dr. Larry K. Cohen. They raised three sons, Warren, Erik, and Ryan in Pittsburgh, PA. Over the years, and especially in retirement, Arlene enjoyed traveling with Larry and spending time with their family. Nothing was more important to Arlene than the time spent with her five grandchildren, Sam, Josh, Hunter, Lyla, and Spencer. Arlene loved orchids and the imagery of hearts, and was known for the beautiful ways she displayed them both throughout her home. Arlene's love and generosity extended beyond her family. Through her support for Israel and her communities in both Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Pittsburgh, PA, Arlene devoted much of her time to giving back to her community. She was deeply involved with Adat Shalom in Pittsburgh, Temple Judea in Palm Beach Gardens, and the Alpert Jewish Family Service, especially their No Excuse For Abuse campaign. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Elaine and Samuel; and brother-in-law, Phil Cohen. She is survived by her husband, Larry; her sons, Warren (Susanne), Erik (Beth), and Ryan (Beth); as well as her grandchildren, Samuel, Joshua, Hunter, Lyla and Spencer; her sister, Thelma Haimovitz (Allan); sister-in-law, Ruth Cohen; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. ROSEMARIE LUCIA PAPINCAK Age 65, of Fox Chapel, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Rose, as she was affectionately known, was born on October 21, 1954 in Wilkes-Barre, the only child of Eleanor Pepe and the late Philip Pepe. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she met her late husband, Dr. Larry J. Papincak. They were married in 1978 in Uniontown, and had four children. Rose was the consummate matriarch. As a hospital pharmacist, nursing school teacher and devoted mother, she spent her time lifting up her family and friends, and contributing to the health and well-being of every life she touched. Her love of music and guitar-playing infused her household with love through song - some of her most cherished moments involved singing with her children during the holidays. The family home was especially vibrant during Christmas-time, which Rose's children dubbed her “pageant season.” Her themed Christmas trees and magical decorations grew from year to year, and family and friends from far and wide would come to see the winter wonderland Rose curated for all to enjoy. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Brett Moore-Papincak of Los Angeles, CA; son, Michael and daughter, Danielle of Pittsburgh; son, Larry and his daughter, Camila, Rose's only grandchild, of Seattle, WA; and mother, Eleanor Pepe of Pittsburgh. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at WEDDELL-AJAK FUNERAL HOME, 100 Center Avenue, Aspinwall. A funeral mass will be held Monday 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 342 Dorseyville Rd., O'Hara Twp. Entombment will follow in the Lady of the Rosary Chapel Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh. GERALDINE "JERI" HEIRENDT GARDNER (JAMMIE) Geraldine "Jeri" (Jammie) Heirendt Gardner, 86 years old, of Sygan, South Fayette Twp., died Thursday, March 5, 2020, in her home surrounded by family. She was born April 3, 1933, in Cecil, daughter of the late Nicholas and Johanna Adams Heirendt. She was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, St. Barbara Church. She enjoyed puzzles, sun tanning, and the beach. Surviving are husband, Elmer "Pup" Gardner of Sygan; daughters, Denise (Ken) Carmichael and Dawna (Bob) Downey both of Sygan; grandchildren, Ken (Jen) Carmichael, Jr. of Sygan, Brandi (Philip) Carter of Cecil, and Deli (Adam) Gonzalez of Upstate, NY; great-grandchildren, Malia, Tyler, Jay, and Chase; sisters-in-law, Sis (John) Luck of Sygan, and Bebe Iagnemma of Mt. Lebanon; brothers, Kenneth (Barb) Heirendt and Alfred "Fred" (Mary Jo) Heirendt both of Cecil. She was preceded in death by five brothers and six sisters Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2020, at the COLEMAN-TAYLOR FUNERAL SERVICES, 3378 Millers Run Road, (Rt. 50), Cecil, PA where prayers of transfer will be said at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2020, followed by a Christian Funeral Mass in St. Barbara Church of Corpus Christi Parish, at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. David Rombold officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Barbara Cemetery. Special thanks to 365 Hospice, Rebecca and Melissa.
