VINCENT S. FIANO Age 92, of Forest Hills, quietly passed away at his home surrounded by family on Monday, February 3, 2020. Vince is survived by Carol Ann (Toler), his beloved wife of 56 years. Loving father of three children: Vincent G. (Pamela Miller), Elizabeth Savka (Mark), and Christina Cervi (Gary). Treasured grandfather of seven grandchildren: Alexandra, Jonathan, Nicholas, Justin, Gabrielle, Catherine, and Elena. Also survived by brother Nick Fiano (late Helen) and sister Lucy Perrino (late Jerry). Dear uncle of nieces Lucille Reynolds, Elvira McDermott, Joanne Brean (Mark), Elvira Spizak (Jan), Annie Perrino, Maureen Perrino, and Stephanie Shockey (Bob), and nephews Tony Gerace, Marty Perrino, John Fiano, and James Fiano. Loving brother of the late Rose Gerace (late Fred), late Mary Bryant (late Merle), late Josephine Meskowski (late Chester) and late John Fiano (late Irene). Also survived by many cousins in the tri-state area. Vince was born on May 18, 1927, in Swissvale. He was the youngest of seven children born to Gabriel and Elvira Fiano who came to America from Italy just after 1900. Vince attended Swissvale High School where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. Vince joined the Navy to serve in WWII in 1945 immediately following high school graduation. Upon completing his service, Vince enrolled in night school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering. He also started his professional career in 1948 as a draftsman for Westinghouse and later for United Engineering. Vince began his 44-year career with PPG Industries in August 1952 in Glass Engineering. He continued night school while working and earned his engineering degree in 1957. In 1960 he received his Professional Engineer's license. At that time, PPG headquarters was located in Gateway Center. It was there that Vince met Carol in late 1962. She worked for Anaconda Wire & Cable Co. also located in Gateway Center. They had the good fortune of seeing each other every day at the coffee station and soon began dating. They were married on November 30, 1963. Vince made significant contributions to PPG throughout his career. He played a key role in PPG's conversion to the float process by helping to design and develop the mechanical services needed to support the facilities. He retired in February 1997 with the title of Chief Mechanical Services Engineer. In retirement, Vince always enjoyed spending family vacations with his children and grandchildren in Wildwood Crest, NJ, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Clearwater Beach, FL. He also golfed frequently with family and friends well into his 80s. He especially enjoyed attending their many sports functions and performances in plays and musicals. All of our family celebrations brought great happiness to Vince and he looked forward to each and every one. Vince was a long time active parishioner of St. Maurice Catholic Church and had a special devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows. A selfless man who devoted his life to his family, Vince's memory will forever live in the hearts of all the lives he influenced. GAYLE T. PYKUS LUST Ae 83, of West Sunbury, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 2, 2020, at Allegheny General Hospital. Born March 18, 1936, in Jacksonville, AL, she was the daughter of the late Howard Trammell and Pauline Dear Trammell. Gayle was a member of the Crossfire Campus of the Butler First Church. Gayle will be remembered as a caring and giving soul who would do anything for anyone. Everyone was her friend; she didn't know a stranger. She had a great sense of humor and a wonderful personality. She would spend two days a week at the Slippery Senior Center enjoying conversation and laughs with her friends, especially Wanda. She enjoyed being in the outdoors, feeding and watching the deer and wildlife. Gayle also loved spending time in her garden. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Born in Racine, WI, she was the daughter of the late Frank And Dominica (Jannuzzi) Cariello. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; daughter, Susan; and son, John; brothers, Joe, Nick; and sister, Mary Knautz. Surviving are four children: Kathleen Stasik of Murrells Inlet, SC, Charles Drudy, Jr. of Troy, AL, Thomas Drudy of Racine, Wl, and Patrick Drudy of Pittsburgh, PA; and brother, Rudy Cariello of Racine, WI. Her life was also filled with 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. MARIE SCHROTH DOUGHERTY Of McCandless Township, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020, her birthday. Born in Trenton, NJ, to Godfrey and Marie Schroth, Marie studied philosophy at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, worked as a legal secretary, and was an accomplished vocalist and musician. She and her husband, Jack, started their family in Yardley, PA and moved to Pittsburgh in 1980. For 32 years she was a faithful and devoted volunteer at Vincentian Home in the activities department and in pastoral care, including as a liturgical assistant, lector, cantor, and Eucharistic minister. Marie also served as Eucharistic minister and prayer leader at Wexford House in McCandless. She was a resident of the Vincentian community at the time of her death. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Godfrey Schroth; sister, Helen Hughes; and beloved husband of 28 years, Jack. Marie is survived and cherished by her seven children: John (Karen), Jeanne Battafarano (Nick), Karen Obringer (Bob Hugus), Kevin, Catherine Spencer (Mark), Patricia Boretsky, Michael (Kristen); by her 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and by her sister, Irene Wolfe; brother, Gerald Schroth (Marilyn); and sister-in-law, Dorothy Schroth. Marie was dedicated to her family, devoted to her Catholic faith as reflected in her life of service and prayer, and was an avid fan of the Pirates, Penguins and Steelers. CLARE ANN BISCHOFF On Monday, February 3, 2020, Clare Ann Bischoff, age 86, of Bellevue. Daughter of the late A. George and Mary E. Bischoff; sister of the late Betty Bischoff and George A. Bischoff, USN. Survived by dear friends and her family at Mt. Assisi Place. A proud graduate of Oliver High School, Clare retired from PNC Bank in 1992, she was a volunteer with PNC retirees and with the Pittsburgh CLO; a member of the Church of the Assumption and of 4 Seasons Bowling League. HELEN M. BUCCI AGE 89, OF FEL...
HELEN M. BUCCI Age 89, of Fellsburg (Rostraver Township) passed away at Paramount Bethel Park on Monday, February 3, 2020. Mrs. Bucci was born on June 28, 1930 to the late Joseph and Anna (Kortina) Urda in Charleroi. She graduated from Charleroi High School in 1948 and Douglas Business College. After working in the meat billing department at Fox Grocery Company/Wetterau for 35 years, she retired to travel with her husband, volunteered with the Rostraver Township and 14-E Lions, and attended her grandchildren's many events. She and her loving husband of 60 years were charter members of St. Anne Church in Rostraver Township, where they had served as Eucharistic Ministers. Previously, she had been a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Court Monessen, Catholic Daughters of America, where she was historian, and sang with the St. Anne's Adult Choir for 28 years. She was a member of the Rostraver Township Lions Club where she was elected as the first female president and was recognized as a Melvin Jones Fellow. Mrs. Bucci was an expert seamstress, sewing many gowns for her daughter and granddaughter. She also loved to cook and bake, particularly at holiday time and on special occasions, providing thousands of cookies for her grandchildren and the Lions of Pennsylvania. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles in ink. She also loved music, especially the Pittsburgh Symphony, Andre Rieu and the Civic Light Opera and was a Steeler and Penguin fan. She adored her family and was a very proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. On September 17, 2011, she lost her beloved husband of 60 years, Michael R. Bucci, Sr. and then her adored son, Michael R. Bucci, Jr. on April 4, 2013, from which she never truly recovered, and last March, her beautiful infant great-grandson, Samuel Thomas Grimm, passed away from neuroblastoma. She is survived by her caring daughter, Cindy (Tom) Gregg; granddaughter, Ashley (Brian) Grimm; grandson, Tommy Gregg; granddaughters, Theo Allyn Reese and Krista (Sam) Jackson; great-granddaughter, Olivia Reese; great-grandson, Benjamin Grimm; and a step-great-grandson, Carter Grimm. She is also survived by her sister, Dorse (Ed) Rodebaugh of Weedville; sisters-in-law, Dolores (Irv) Becken of Ontario, NY, Joyce (Jim) Cunningham of Belle Vernon and Margaret Urda of Charleroi; brother-in-law, Joseph (Theresa) Bucci of Elmira, NY; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, husband, son and great-grandson, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Ernest Pierce; brother, Fred Urda; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and Anthony Frank and Marie and Domenick Valente; a niece, Annette Valente; and mother-in-law, Jennie Bucci Merando. Memorial donations may be made to the Samuel Grimm Scholarship Program at York Day Nursery, Lions Club International Foundation, Leader Dog of Rochester, Michigan, Beacon Lodge Camp or the Rostraver Food Bank in her memory. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME, INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) where a Blessing Service will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Anne, 1870 Rostraver Road, Rostraver Twp., PA with her Pastor, Rev.
