She brought enthusiasm and determination to everything she did and provided strength and support to everyone she encountered. He was a board member of Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh and heavily involved with Catholic Charities. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife or spending time with the greatest joys in his life, his eight grandkids who loved the adventures Bubba took them on. PATRICIA LANELL (TAYLOR) BAINBRIDGE Born June 1, 1934. Age 85 of Munhall, PA. Formerly from Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully where she resided with her daughter Elaine with granddaughters Amanda and Shannon by her side, on December 23, 2019 to join the Lord. She was born and raised in Lawton, Oklahoma she was the beloved last youngest daughter out of 10 children of the late lum Ernest Taylor and Callie Emily (Sission) Taylor Hubert. She was widowed to her late husband Frederick Norman Bainbridge on June 14, 1984 whom she met in Lawton while he was stationed at Fort Sill Army Post and married in August 1950. She was the beloved mother of her two deceased sons William Thomas Bainbridge 1960, Ronald Eric Bainbridge 2019. After the death of her husband Fred, she longed to move back to her hometown Lawton to be with all of her brothers and sisters. She loved her country music, loved To garden and she loved to get together every Saturday to play canasta card game with her sisters. She had a passion to sew and knit blankets, make and paint ceramics, make dolls, many crafts always working on something for someone. She is survived by her children: Freddie Norman Bainbridge and wife Mary Lou, grandchildren William and Meghan of Minersville, PA, Bruce Edward Bainbridge and wife Marge of Montgomery County, PA. Son (previous marriage) Bruce Ford resides in Arizona. Pamela Schoenfelder. Grandchildren Amy and William of Pottsville, PA, grandson Ronald Eric Bainbridge Jr., of Mechanicsburg, PA (son) of the late Ronald Eric Bainbridge of Lawton, Oklahoma, Elaine Bainbridge of Munhall, granddaughters Amanda and Shannon Bainbridge whom were their nana's caretakers, companion through the years of her suffering from the disease Dementia. Crisp was an associate pastor at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Sharpsburg, PA. An Army Veteran, he was a loyal member of VFW Post 709 in Sharpsburg. An avid rider, Rev. Crisp was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association. Rev. Crisp was the son of the late Rev. Wilmer L. and Mary Crisp and was raised by devoted stepmother Coatney Crisp. Preceded in death by one brother, Donald Crisp. He is survived by one sister, Sheila (Glenn) Walker; three sons, Eric and Aaron Crisp as well as Chris West and a daughter, Krystal Knox. JESSIE JEANNETTE MEREDITH HITCHENS Jessie Jeannette Meredith Hitchens, 98, of Upper St. Clair peaceably passed away at home on December 30, 2019 of natural causes. She was the loving mother of James E. Hitchens (Barbara) of Millsboro, DE., John T Hitchens of Littleton, CO., and Mary Jeannette Duffy (David) of Upper St Clair, PA with whom she lived the past 13 years. She had eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren that she loved and cherished very much. She also had 10 nieces and nephews and many other family relationships. She shared a special lifelong relationship with her first cousin, Margie Reichhold of Milford, DE. She was born in McKeesport, PA. on Christmas Day 1921, daughter of Harry B Meredith and Sarah Eva (Hobby) Meredith Hitchens. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband of 59 years, James W. Hitchens; son, Paul W Hitchens; grandson, Joseph R Duffy; and her three brothers, Harry B. Meredith of St Petersburg, FL., Thomas W. Meredith Sr of Landisville, PA, and John R. Meredith of McKeesport, PA. She graduated from McKeesport High School in 1939 after being named Ideal Girl and Best Dressed. She worked at the McKeesport Daily News during World War II and after the war while her husband went to law school. After raising four children, she went back to work in the 1970s as the manager of the Snack Bar and Gift Shoppe at the McKeesport Hospital until she retired and moved to Florida in 1981. She was a member of the McKeesport 20th Century Club serving as the President for several years. She was also an avid bridge player participating in several leagues until she was 95. Two of her best skills were cooking and baking. She almost always cooked the holiday meals for her extended family which included many desserts. Jeannette was a loving and caring person that developed a special relationship with everyone she met. She was a member of the Ballentine Methodist Church growing up, Greenock Methodist Church as an adult, and the Pasadena Community Church while living in Florida. PATRICIA J. KLINGENSMITH On Monday, December 30, 2019, Patricia J. Klingensmith. Born March 29, 1922, in Pittsburgh, PA. She was the daughter of late Dr. Meade and Helen Wiant, and sister to the late William Wiant. She was the granddaughter of the late Dr. Charles and Eva Jane Snyder of Greensburg, PA. Patricia was beloved wife of the late James Klingensmith for 55 years. She is survived by her three children, James Meade (and Linda) Klingensmith, Patricia Jane Klingensmith, Jr., William Charles (and Julie Newman) Klingensmith; and four grandchildren, Dr. Katherine Klingensmith (and Robert Waxlax), Meade Klingensmith, Jacob Klingensmith, and Benjamin Klingensmith. Patricia graduated from Peabody High School at the age of 16 and went on to the University of Pittsburgh to earn the following degrees: BA in History, MA in English, and a MLIS in Library and Information Science. She was a member of the Zita Tau Alpha Sorority and a College Club of Pittsburgh for 80 years. Patricia was a Professor in the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Pittsburgh and lectured in California, Chicago, New York City, London and Copenhagen. Patricia was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. Her love of books led her to become a book reviewer. She was also an avid Bridge player. She loved to travel with her daughter on yearly cruises. All her life, she and her family vacationed in the summer months in Chautauqua, NY. She also served on the Board of Trustees for the Chautauqua Institution. Patricia had a productive, full life which included many wonderful friends and a loving family whom she cherished. SYLVAN SIMON "SONNY" Sylvan Sonny Simon, aged 91, of Monroeville and more recently Forest Hills, passed away peacefully from natural causes on December 30, 2019. He is survived by Shirley, his devoted wife of 68 years, his loving children Steven, Arlene and Barbara Simon, and grandchildren Ashley and Rachel Simon. He was predeceased by his sisters Helen Simon, Dorothy Simon Gross and Ruth Simon Cicero and their husbands. Mr. Simon grew up in the Hill District of Pittsburgh and graduated from Alderdice High School in 1945. He joined the Army Air Forces immediately upon graduation where he excelled as a radio communications specialist. In response to the horrific tanker explosion near Galveston, TX in 1947, he deployed with the response team and received Commendation for his valor and devotion to duty for unhesitatingly aiding in evacuation and administering first-aid to survivors with total disregard for personal safety. Mr. Simon later attended the University of Pittsburgh, then married his sweetheart Shirley Solomon and moved their young family to Monroeville where they lived for 59 years as he built a successful career in the grocery packaging business, winning numerous sales awards for exceptional performance with International Paper. He could be counted on in anyone's time of need. He lovingly and faithfully took care of his oldest sister, Helen, prior to her early death in 1969, his mother and father-in-law, David and Rae Solomon, and Shirley's aunt and uncle - our beloved Aunt Hettie and Uncle Ash. He was a very generous man, and when a good friend needed help, dad was there with no questions asked. To his family, this personified our father. We love you dearly and will miss you always. LLOYD PAUL MILLER Age 87, of Irwin, died Tuesday December 31, 2019, at Golden Heights, Irwin. He was born October 9, 1932, in East McKeesport, a son of the late Lloyd P. and Esther Johnson Miller. He was a retired employee of Bell Telephone with 37 years' service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin and a former active member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior, North Huntingdon. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and an avid woodworker and bowler and enjoyed photography. He built both homes his family was raised in. Paul wintered in Florida for many years with his late wife Suzanna and was a loving father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanna (Adam) Miller, who passed on November 1, 2019; and brothers, Walter and William Miller. He is survived by his children, Daniel P. (Joell) Miller, Paula (Tony) DeLuise, and Diane Ozegovich, all of North Huntingdon; his grandchildren, Danine Miller (Ryan Temoshenka), Faith (Eric) Attanucci, Anna (Corey) Read, Amanda DeLuise, Rachel Ozegovich, Adam Ozegovich, Daniel Brotz, and Abigale Brotz; also numerous nieces and nephews. ROBERT JAMES NIEDERBERGER "BOB" Robert (Bob) James Niederberger passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2019. Bob, also affectionately known as Bobby and Bop, was our patriarch and our rock. He was also the toughest guy we knew, having fought a heroic battle with multiple sclerosis and related complications for over 25 years; in spite of this, his positivity till the very end was undying and remarkable. Born September 18, 1949, in Mount Oliver, PA, Bob was the fourth of nine children born to Emmett and Nancy Niederberger. An avid pianist who could play-by-ear with the best of them, Bob was also a talented speaker and storyteller, imparting humor and good spirits to those around him. In his career, Bob worked for PPG in several different places around the world, but his proudest accomplishment was helping to build and manage the first American glass plant (and largest US-Sino joint venture at the time) in China in 1985, shortly after the opening of China to foreign investment. While Bob traveled the world, he was a Pittsburgh guy at heart. He loved local sports a great T-Ball coach to his kids, a doting fan of his beloved Pirates and Steelers, and a regular attendee at high school basketball games. He had a deep commitment to faith and community. Bob was very involved with St. Sebastian Church for 30 years as a pianist, the director of folk groups, a member of the Finance Council and a business manager in later years all of which culminated in Bob being the recipient of the Manifesting the Kingdom' award by the Diocese of Pittsburgh in 2006. But most of all, Bob was always and forever a family guy a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to everyone. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sandy; children, Jenelle Beekman (JW), Mike (Danae), and Rob (Carrie); eight grandchildren, Lucas, Alex, Isla, Rock, Sloane, Chloe, Rose and Layla; six remaining siblings, Bill, Jim, John, Mary Bristol, Mike, Cathy and husband, Guy Costa; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and older siblings, Nancy Bik and Vinny Niederberger. Bob's family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude for the wonderful care provided by St. Barnabas Homecare, the ICU and 6th Floor medical staff at UPMC Passavant Hospital, and in particular, Chris Johnston a family member' in every way but in blood for his enduring support and friendship over many years. JOSEPH ANTHONY ROCHE Age 84, passed away on December 28, 2019, in Baltimore, MD. He was born on May 25, 1935, in Lawrenceville, PA, to Joseph Patrick Roche and Catherine (Casey) Byrnes Roche. He attended Central Catholic High School, Duquesne University, and Johns Hopkins University. He was honorably discharged from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He had a successful 43 year career with the former Monumental Life Insurance Company in Baltimore. Even after his official retirement he continued to actively sell various insurance products. He began his career in Pittsburgh, with a stop in Detroit, before landing his family in the countryside of Baltimore County. It was there that he spent the majority of his life and career, and where he and his wife Lucille raised their six children, many dogs, and an assortment of horses. There were plenty of parties and family gatherings. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, listening to Irish music, and devoting time to his other career' - The Ancient Order of Hibernians. He held a variety of positions within the organization. He held the office of National President for two terms. He was proud of his work as National Organizer, creating many new divisions across the US, including the first in Alaska. He spent much time before congress, testifying on behalf of a variety of Irish causes, a tireless advocate for peace in the North. He was a recipient of the prestigious Sean MacBride Humanitarian Award. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Margaret O'Neill; his daughter, Susan Roche Peters (Stephen); and his brother, John Thomas (Jack) Roche. He is survived by his children, Colleen Roche Gizinski (Bob) of Joppa, Kim Ann Roche (Steve) of Baltimore, Mary Pat Roark of Plano, TX, Luanne Roche (Mark) of Glen Rock, PA, and Joseph Roche (Stephanie) of Baldwin; grandchildren, Brian, Katie, Michael, Patrick, Stephen, Kelly, and Connor; great-grandchildren, Lizzy, Jack, and Michael. GEORGE WEISS, JR. "SONNY" George Sonny Weiss, Jr., 87, of Avella, died Monday, December 30, 2019, in Donnell House. He was born June 3, 1932, in Fredericktown, a son of the late George E. Weiss, Sr., and Gladys DeWitt Weiss. Mr. Weiss was a graduate of Carrick High School and served in the Army. He worked for the United States Postal Service, where he was the superintendent of the Vehicle Maintenance Center, Northside, Pittsburgh. Mr. Weiss played the tenor saxophone as well as the baritone saxophone, and enjoyed golfing and playing chess. He took great pride in his family. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Claysville. On May 29, 1953, he married Carole Mae Lewis, who died February 8, 2012. Surviving are six children, Glenn Weiss of Avella, Gary (Joyce) Weiss of Canonsburg, Dianne (Jett) Sanner of Avella, Michael (Judy) Weiss of Avella, Scott (Paula) Weiss of Avella, and Douglas (Laurie) Weiss of Washington; a sister, Pamela Byers of the state of Indiana; nine grandchildren, Lisa, Bryan, Christopher, Danielle, Matthew, Nicole, Jared, Cassandra and Samantha; six great-grandchildren, Levi, Bree, Rylee, Sophia, Olivia and Arabella; and many nieces and nephews. JANET F. GRAEB Age 85, of Sheraden, passed peacefully on Saturday, December 28th, 2019. Daughter of the late John and Lavina (Henderson) Graeb; beloved sister of the late Corinne (James) Frayer, Donald (Bernice) and John (Arlene) Graeb, and Maxine (Richard) Greygor. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Karen Frayer, Sandra Painter, Tamah Greygor, Susan Boroch, Kimberly Greygor, Michael Graeb, Richard Greygor, John Greygor, James Greygor, Sheryl La Bar; many grandnieces/nephews; and great-grandnieces/nephews. She began her career at Bell Telephone after graduating from Allegheny High School where she advanced from a Secretarial Clerk to second Level Department Manager over a 37 year career. Janet was an energetic, determined and loving woman who was extraordinarily dedicated to her family and friends. She was also an avid dog lover who enjoyed stained glass artistry, gardening and bowling, where she functioned as league president.
