BOYD ELMA CRAWFORD Age 99, of Pitcairn and Monroeville, died peacefully on April 26, 2014. Elma was born on April 1, 1915, in Pitcairn. She was the devoted daughter of LeRoy and Nannie Bracken Crawford as well as a dedicated wife to Ray L. Boyd, 1914-1968. Mrs. Boyd was a long standing member of the United Presbyterian Church of Pitcairn. She was also proud to be a past matron of the Corinth Chapter of Eastern Star. Elma centered her life around her relationship with God as well as her family. Many of her greatest joys came when she attended her children's and grandchildren's birthdays, graduations and weddings. Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband. She is survived by her children, Terran Boyd (Linda Smeltz), Judith Boyd Cunningham (Robert), and Timothy Boyd (Anita); her grandchildren, Jeffrey Boyd (Jenn), Mark Boyd (Tiffany), Sarah Palermo (John), Cameron Boyd (Katie), Nathan Cunningham (Helena), and Rachel Cunningham Ewart (Elliott); and her 12 great-grandchildren. LaSCOLA ANDREW Age 31, of Frederick, Maryland (formerly of Gibsonia, PA), passed away unexpectedly on April 22, 2014, due to complications of a stroke. Andrew was the beloved son of Tom and Tish; best friend and oldest brother to Zach, Jordan, and Carly; dearly loved grandson of John and Joan LaScola and the late Mary and Robert Poropatich. Andrew was a nephew to Thomas and Cheryl Fogarty, Bob Poropatich, Bo Swyszcz, Richard and Lynn Poropatich, Ronald and Cary Poropatich, Randolph and Shelly Poropatich, Judith LaScola, and Tina and Dan Chiavetta. Andrew is also survived by many cousins. Andrew was a Safety Specialist at Ft. Detrick and a member of American Society of Safety Engineers. He graduated with honors from IUP, with bachelor's and master's degrees in Safety Science. Andrew was a proud member of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. Growing up, Andrew played hockey for the Eastern Tigers and Hampton Talbots. Some of Drew's proudest moments were on the ice. Andrew lived every moment to the fullest. A self professed "yinzer," Andrew was proud to bleed black and gold. We ask, in his honor, everyone drink a beer and cheer the Pittsburgh Penguins to another Stanley Cup. .... SCHROEDER CHARLOTTE HASKELL YOST (BRYAN) Born August 19, 1920, in Charleston, South Carolina to Isaac Marion Bryan and Charlotte Porcher Bryan, Charlotte died peacefully at her home in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, on April 21, 2014. Charlotte spent her early years in Charleston, where she was presented at the St. Cecelia Ball in 1937. She graduated from the Ashley Hall School in 1938 and from the College of Charleston in 1942. She married James Mitchell Yost in 1942 and moved to Sewickley in 1946 when James completed his service in the U.S. Navy. There, they resided in Sewickley Heights where Charlotte infused her home and community with her unique sense of grace, style, and humor. She served as president of the Little Sewickley Garden Club twice, once in 1955-59 and again in 1998-2000 and as president of the Garden Club of Allegheny County from 1976-78. She was an early board member of and helped to establish Valley Care. As a descendant of William Thompson of South Carolina, she was a member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America and served as first vice chair and second vice chair of that organization. She was also a member of the Sewickley Historical Society, Allegheny Country Club, and St. Stephen's Church. During their marriage, Charlotte and James enjoyed an abundance of friendships, three loving children, exhilarating travel, and many dogs, until James died in 1982. In 1984, Charlotte married Frank Schroeder, uniting their lives and loved ones. Together they enjoyed their families, community, travel, and the births of many grandchildren. They lived happily in Edgeworth, Pennsylvania, until Frank's death in 2005. In addition to her beloved parents and spouses, James and Frank, Charlotte was predeceased by her sister, Rosa Lumpkin; her brother, John Bryan; and her stepson, Edward Schroeder. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Sims; her children, Charlotte (John) Robertson, Walter M. Yost II, his former wife, Rives Rea Yost, and Ann Yost; stepchildren, Hap (Elizabeth) Schroeder, Francie (Henry) Eastwood, and Jean Schroeder; grandchildren, John (Jenn) Robertson, Isaac (Aimee) Robertson, James Robertson, Ann Robertson, Robinson Yost, Charlotte Yost, and James Bibb; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Robertson and Abigail Robertson; step-grandchildren, Libby (Marshall Schoenthal) Schroeder, Kate (Kane) O'Neill, Luke (Katie) Schroeder, Brandon Eastwood, and Heather (Andrew Cohen) Eastwood; step-great- grandchildren, Charlotte Schoenthal, Grant Schoenthal, and Caroline O'Neill. Beloved wife of the late Alexander Callas; loving mother of Jessica Devaney and Paul Callas; dear sister of Paula Buckley-Glesner; grandmother of Lillian Devaney and Liam Kilgour. Rosanne earned a B.A. in philosophy and history from University of Pittsburgh, a M.S. in mathematics education from Marywood College, and a M.S. in statistics from University of Vermont. She was briefly a teacher and went on to a long career in statistics where she worked with inequality research in Medicare and Medicaid. WORLEY CONSTANCE M. Of Bethel Park, passed away peacefully on a beautiful spring afternoon Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the age of 79. She was surrounded by the love of her children at her side. Born May 9, 1934, in Munhall, PA, the daughter of Gus and Ethel Zanos. As a young woman she loved to sing and was talented enough to cut several records. Her talents and creativity were also apparent in her homemaking and exemplary gardens. A wise, compassionate, vibrant, woman who faced life with a courage and strength that came from steadfast faith. She was a true friend to those who knew her and will be deeply missed. Constance was the beloved wife of the late Carl M. Worley, MD for 43 years; loving mother to Carla Worley Saunders, Tom Worley, Sandra Worley and Seth Worley, MD; stepmother to Marianne Worley, Paul Worley, MD and Rev. Mark Worley; and blessed with 19 beautiful, loving grandchildren. “Connie” was sister to her beloved brother, Jim Zanos; and sisters, Sylvia Kasimirsky and the late Pat Lyons. AYERS CLARENCE “BUBBA” F., JR. Clarence “Bubba” F. Ayers, Jr., 52, went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2014. He was born in Pittsburgh and lived his formative years in Plum, PA, graduating from Plum Senior High School. Clarence graduated Magna Cum Laude with two B.A. from Kent State University and Summa Cum Laude with an M.A. from Spalding University and was finishing up a M.A. Ed. from Malone University. His goal was to combine his love of riding and training horses, with his love of teaching and working with children and youths. Amazingly, Clarence did this all while being visually impaired. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. Bubba was our Cowboy and he had the gift to minister. He faced all adversity with courage and grace. He was surrounded by his loved ones who witnessed the miracle of his soul crossing over to the Heavens above as a spiritual Warrior. Preceded in death by his father, Clarence F. Ayers, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly (Bryan) of 10 years; mother, Wanda B. Ayers of Lenoir, NC; sons, Jason, Allen and Christopher, all of Pittsburgh, PA; brother, Bryan (Wandie) of Church Hill, TN; sisters, LaVonne Davenport (Jamie) of Carthage, TN, Jackie Pearl (Virgil) of Humble, TX; aunt, Ola Watson (Tom) of Cuyahoga Falls; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
