ADAM SHUMOVICH Age 93, passed on Monday, June 17, 2019. Father of Carol (Shumovich) Riley of Pittsburgh, PA and estranged son, Robert A. Shumovich; grandsons, Christopher and Jason Riley, and Alex Shumovich; and great-grandson, Kit Riley; also survived by nieces and nephews. He was born and grew up in the West End of Pittsburgh. He served proudly in WWII enlisting in the Navy in 1943. Attended Pittsburgh schools and was the first graduating class of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Photography in 1947. In 1949, he opened his own studio by the name of “Adam's Studio” in the West End of Pittsburgh. He was often referred to as “Mr. Adams”. That was a lifelong career and passion. Adam was the first professional photographer in the Pittsburgh region to set up his own printing and processing of his color photography. He was known throughout the region, for photographing weddings, high school senior pictures, Steelers, Krogers, Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese, Pittsburgh Steel Mills, Aerial Photography. The Pittsburgh Press ran the first color Light Up Night in the ROTO magazine. He received many accolades for his work from the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese, Triangle and State Photographers Association. Friends and family will be received Monday 2-4 and 6-8 at WARCHOL FURNERAL HOME, 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, at St. Philip Catholic Church, 50 West Crafton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15205. JOSEPH F. YELICH Age 84, of Peters Twp., originally from Bethel Park, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 21, 2019. Son of the late Anton Yelich and Veronica Resavage; beloved husband of 62 years to Connie (DeFranco) Yelich; loving father of Joseph (Debbi), Lu Ann (Bill) Bonaccorsi, Jim (Paula), and the late Michelle (her surviving husband, Syd) Loveday; grandfather of Nicole, Amy, Christina, Dominic, Anthony, Sydney, and Shane; great-grandfather of Matthew, Lilliana, Olivia, and Connor. Joe was a longtime General Contractor. He enjoyed family gatherings, listening to Polkas and the oldies, playing golf, and was an avid Pittsburgh Sports Fan. GLORIA JEAN KELLER Age 77, of Overbrook, on Friday June 21, 2019. Beloved wife of Henry F. (Pudge) Plewinski; mother of Terri Jones; grandmother of Tim, Kayci, and Zach; great-grandmother of Luke. Gloria was strong-willed and courageous as she faced many health issues. Regardless of how she felt, she was always extremely supportive of her family and others. An avid Steelers fan, she also enjoyed the casinos, horse racing, and any bingo game or raffle. She will be missed by her cats, Lovie, Callie, and Buddy. LESTER MAX SELBY Age 89, moved on to his next adventure on June 15, 2019. Devoted husband of the late Janet Ann (Merriman) Selby; loving father to Sandy (Ken) Berlekamp, of Fremont, OH, Pat Selby (Ron Brausch), of Grosse Ile, MI, Jean Selby, of Rocky River, OH, and Joy (Bob) Cain, of Pickerington, OH; doting "Pop-Pop" to Kat Brausch (Mike Auerbach), Daria Brausch, Maggie Cain, and Sam Berlekamp; and much missed by his longtime canine companion, Moose. A graduate of the College of Wooster, his academic career was interrupted but also enriched by four years in the US Navy and a circumnavigation of the globe. He spent 31 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland in various roles, retiring as Sr. Vice President and Secretary. A creative mind and spirit, he made up bedtime stories to tell his daughters, built his own canoe, worked in stained glass, and in retirement became a watercolor artist. He loved camping with family, hiking, and fishing. He enjoyed the reunions of the Tin Can Sailors and surprised everyone by taking his first skydive at age 81 after one such event. When travel become more difficult, he read voraciously. He stayed connected to the world via Facebook, seeking out friends and family, playing Words with Friends, and staying on top of current events (the better to correspond with presidents and Ohio's senators). He readily found and was grateful for the joys in life: good company, good food, and the beauty of the world around him. He laughed easily, loved unconditionally, and will be greatly missed. AARON ELLIS, JR. Age 82, of Murrysville, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019, with his wife and children by his side. He was born on August 21, 1936 in Douglas, GA; son of the late Aaron Ellis, Sr. and Lois Revell Ellis. Aaron served in the US Army, and retired from the US Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer, having served on the submarines USS Grenadier, USS Ethan Allen, and USS Benjamin Franklin, along with various shore installations. After leaving the Navy, he worked for the Westinghouse Nuclear Service division until his retirement. Aaron is survived by his wife, Sandra B. of Murrysville; his sons, John (Tammy) Ellis of Sicklerville, NJ and Kyle (Debbie) Ellis of Carmel, IN; daughters, Janine (Tom) Merchant of Murrysville and Pamela Ellis of Pittsburgh; his sister, Elouise Kirkland of Douglas, GA; three grandchildren, Amanda, Austin, and Ellenore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. BROOKS M. "BUD" LINDSEY Age 81, of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of West View on Sunday, June 23, 2019. Beloved husband for 57 years of Marian Kendra; loving father of Mark (Debbie) Lindsey, David (Rosalind) Lindsey, and Jacqueline (Chuck) Halt; cherished grandfather of Julie, Casey, Mark, Brooks, Ellie, and David; great-grandfather of Elizabeth. Bud retired from People's Gas after a long career and went on to volunteer for St. Clair Hospital for many years. He enjoyed golfing and bowling and was active in the Mt. Lebanon Golf League, but he loved to spend time with his family most of all. Friends will be received at LAUGHLIN CREMATION & FUNERAL TRIBUTES, 222 Washington Rd. Mt. Lebanon on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. A blessing service will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. in The Baptist Home Chapel, 489 Castle Shannon Blvd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 112 Washington Place #1520, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
