MEINERT DAVID C. Age 83, of Upper St. Clair, passed peacefully on February 8, 2018, surrounded by his family. David was born October 15, 1934, in Ambridge, to the late Leo and Elizabeth Swain Meinert. He graduated from Loyola University Maryland with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Following college, David enlisted in the US Army serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Security Agency and was stationed in Germany. After returning from Germany, David began a successful career at US Steel in Johnstown. He transferred to the Pittsburgh area and worked at various US Steel locations in managerial positions in the Accounting Department. After 33 years, David retired as the Manager of Accounting & Finance at US Steel's Mon Valley Works. David is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary (Dina) Meinert; and four children, Susan (Charles) Bianco, Paul (Melissa) Meinert, Karen (Jeff) DeRoss, and Kurt (Amy) Meinert. David enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan, Mathew, Nicole, Brittany, Craig, Kyle, Brooke, and Brett; and great-grandsons, Luca and Owen. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his four brothers, Leo, Robert, Herb, and Richard Meinert. James was a federal employee for over 30 years, served in the Vietnam War and enjoyed all things Civil War related. He volunteered at South Park Meals on Wheels and Pittsburgh Food Bank. Jim was an avid walker in South Park. He was known at the park to greet you with a big smile and a wave. Jim loved to bring his wife flowers every week of their marriage. KAHN WILLIAM (BILL) An eight-year resident of Zeeland, MI, died peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2018, while under the care of the dedicated staff of Vista Springs and Hospice of Holland. Bill was born on October 12, 1925, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Fred and Frances Kahn. After attending Schenley High School he served in the Army during World War II. His work career was with the US Postal Service. He remained a resident of Pittsburgh, PA, for 85 years. He is survived by his son, James J. Kahn of Castle Shannon, PA; daughters Lynn Kahn Parker of Merced, CA, and Leslie Dokianakis (Stelios) of Saugatuck, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine. Bill loved being part of the lives of his four grandchildren, Nicole Parker of San Francisco, CA, Leslie Parker of San Diego, CA, Daniel Dye of Washington D.C., and Elli Dokianakis of Saugatuck, MI. He served in the Army during WWII and saw combat in Germany and France. When he came back from the war, he spent most of his career working at the US Postal Service. Bill loved crossword puzzles, Reuben sandwiches, sitcoms, watched The Lawrence Welk Show every week, and bet on the occasional baseball game. He usually wore t-shirts of his favorite sports team (Penn State) and universities (George Washington, San Diego, Merced), giving him a reason to talk about sports or brag about his kids and grandkids! Bill will be missed by his relatives and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and laughter. As per his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Full of class and grace, Jeaneen shined brighter than anyone. She dedicated countless hours celebrating her life with her family. She enjoyed vacationing and soaking up the sunshine surrounded by those she loved. Selfless, caring, and genuine are just a few words to describe her. She truly was the heart and soul of her family.
