Possessed with an intense curiosity and interest in learning, Carol attended many computer classes at Community College of Allegheny County. She spent the majority of her professional life working in the Dietetics department at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oakland. As a child Carol developed a love of the arts, especially dance and singing. Her hobbies included knitting, playing cards, listening to music and cooking. RILEY MARY ISABELLE (DIMON) Mary died on February 21, 2017, in Pittsburgh, PA with family by her side, after a long illness. A talented and prolific writer and poet, Mary's poetry was published in a variety of collections across her lifetime, and she earned a Master's of Fine Arts degree from Chatham University in 2004. In addition to her work as a poet, Mary worked in a variety of community settings to support families, most notably as a counselor to survivors of homicide in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mary was born in Danville, VA on December 6, 1935, to A. Mary (Withers) and Richard Dimon, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Susan Hildreth (Riley) Killmeyer, Theodore Jay Riley and Ann Catherine Riley, all of Pittsburgh; and seven grandchildren, Kathryn Bellis Finley of Brooklyn, NY, Anna Kenyon Finley of Pittsburgh, Clara Serling Finley of Lincoln, England, Isabel Erin Cushey of Vancouver, Canada, and Benjamin Withers Finley, Emmaline Jean Riley Cushey, Samuel Jay Nydes of Pittsburgh. Four nieces and two nephews also survive her: Rebecca Menes of Alexandria, Virginia, Elizabeth Menes of Fort Worth, Texas, Daniel Menes of Manassas, Virginia, William Phelan and Solveig Dimon, both of San Francisco, California, and Elizabeth Dimon of Palo Alto, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Albert Riley; her son, Ronald Clarence Riley; her sister, Diane (Dimon) Menes; and her brother, Richard Dimon. BRUCKMAN MARILYN Marilyn Mullen Knight Bruckman, a long time resident of Forest Hills, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 22, 2017. Marilyn was born on November 30, 1934 the day after Thanksgiving in North Braddock, PA. Marilyn graduated from Scott High School in North Braddock in 1952 and was extremely proud of graduating from Carnegie Institute of Technology (CMU) in 1956 with a BS in Home Economics Education. She is the past president of the Women's Clan. Marilyn married her first husband F. Robert Knight in 1958. He passed away later that year, shortly before the birth of their daughter, Patricia. Later, she met a widower, William R. Bruckman, Jr. and, his two daughters, Brenda and Kathryn. In 1965, the five of them got married and she gained two more daughters. Marilyn had four careers in her lifetime, she was a Home Economics teacher at Norwin High School, a realtor at Bruckman Realty Company, a paralegal at USX and a homemaker. Marilyn's passions were sewing, butterflies and traveling. Her mother said that Marilyn was born with her suitcase packed and she visited most of the lower 48 states plus a trip of a lifetime to Europe. She especially loved the trips that she took with her extended family. Marilyn was a life long Methodist and long time member of South Avenue United Methodist Church. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and L. Margaret Mullen; brothers, John, Robert and Christopher; and her first husband, F. Robert Knight. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, William R. Bruckman, Jr.; daughters, Patricia Jones, Brenda (Herbert) Nichol and Kathryn (Joseph) Burgess; grandchildren, Rachel (Michael) Dixon, Allison (Joshua) Clepper, Gwendolyn Jones, Laurel Jones, Ryan (Clare) Burgess, Melissa Nichol, and Matthew Nichol; and great-grandchildren, Joelie and Declan Clepper.
