VUDY MAGDA 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2013. She is survived by her son, Zsolt Vudy. Magda Vudy was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary. She was part of the Hungarian art world, developing the social connections necessary to sell art, and also created graphic design works and crafts. Magda fled Hungary with her six year old son and beloved Tibetan Chow dog in 1956 during the revolution, fleeing over the mountains to safety and freedom. She was a vocal activist against the new regime, and her home had been bombed. Magda started her life in America as a single mother in a new country with a different language. She went on to work at the interior design floor of Kaufmann's. Her clients included Elsie Hillman, the Scaifes, and others. Later she bought, sold and restored antiques, and purchased several properties. Magda loved animals her whole life. Her favorites were Hungarian Puli dogs, but she also had many other pets, including befriending a porcupine. In Pittsburgh, she raised Puli dogs for show, having up to ten at one time. Her lifelong favorite charities were Little Sisters of the Poor and Animal Friends. Magda's final year of life was much improved thanks to the kind attention given by all of the caring people associated with Bridges Hospice, and by Judy Reynolds, proprietor of Cedarwood Personal Care Home in Gibsonia, PA. Magda's feisty, can-do attitude and friendly approach to all will be missed. Arrangements are private and have been entrusted to CREMATION & FUNERAL CARE, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317 (724) 260-5546.
