
CHEHOVITS JOHN F. Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John F. Chehovits, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Concordia of Franklin Park. A lifetime resident of Economy Borough, John was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica (Strojek) Chehovits in 2009 and his son, Edward J. Chehovits in 1972. Born Jan. 8, 1923, in Economy Borough, John was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon returning home from overseas, John worked for A.M. Byers, American Bridge, St. Veronica's Church and Beaver Cemetery. He also managed the cemeteries of the former St. Stanislaus and St. Veronica Cemeteries. John also served as an usher for St. Stanislaus Church. His avid love of fishing was passed down to many of his grandchildren. John was a member of Good Samaritan Parish. John was also preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Catherine (Gazda) Chehovits; his brothers, Andrew (Laura), Joseph, and Steve (Dorothy); and his sisters, Irene Barto (Louis) and Anna Yosler (Rudolph). He is survived by a daughter, Joanne V. Morrison (Joseph); a son, Thomas J. Chehovits (Barbara); his grandchildren, Dina Garbulinski (David), Joseph B. Morrison, Kristie Cottage (Matthew), Carrie Bierman, Todd Chehovits and his fiancée, Katie Walden, and Caitlin Chehovits and her fiancé, Jeffrey Kreis. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; his brother, George Chehovits (Jean); his sister-in-law, Genevieve Chehovits; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will provide military honors on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by prayers at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in the Good Samaritan Catholic Church.
