CARDWELL ODESSA PETERSON Age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late David H. Cardwell; loving mother of Linda Cardwell, Deborah Taylor, David (Pearl) Love and the late Richard Adams; devoted grandmother of 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister of Wilma Tyus; and sister-in-law of Rev. Brenda Cardwell; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was known for her anointed cooking and was the owner and founder of Cardwell Personal Care, where she provided care for people for over 40 years. Channel 11 recognized Odessa for her excellence in providing for the elderly. Odessa was committed to helping others continue their education. In her spare time she cooked for different fund-raising drives helping collect money to send neighborhood children to college. Mother Odessa served on the Missionary Board at her church along with being the first African American to serve on the PNC Community Board.
