MAYER CYNTHIA A. Age 66, of White Oak, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in UPMC Presbyterian. She was born on September 6, 1947, in McKeesport, and was the daughter of the late Bumi and Marion Jacobs Markowitz. Cynthia is survived by her husband, Steven J. Mayer; son, Ben (Lauren) Mayer of Pittsburgh; daughter, Susan (Jeff) Schonfeld of Ballston, VA; grandson, Sawyer Schonfeld; sisters, Terry (Kevin) Barlak of Monroeville and Daryl (Dom) Marks of North Hills; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lou and Rosalie Anstandig of White Oak; and many nieces and nephews. Cynthia was a 1965 graduate of McKeesport High School and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. She was retired from the McKeesport Area School District where she taught at the high school and Francis McClure. She was a member of Temple B'Nai Israel Congregation and its Sisterhood, Hadassah, B'nai B'rith, McKeesport College Club and PRSEA. Graveside Service will be held Thursday (today) at 1:00 p.m. at Temple B'nai Israel Cemetery, with Rabbi Paul Tuchman, officiating. The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to Temple B'nai Israel, 2025 Cypress St., White Oak, PA 15131. Arrangements are entrusted to the JENNIFER S.
