FALCK ROBERT C. Known as "Bob" to his many friends and family, died Sunday, February 11, 2018, at age 82. Bob leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Penelope (Torlidas); daughter, Maria; son, Robert; son-in-law, Larry; grandchildren, Stephanie and Jessica; and step- granddaughter, Elinor. Born and raised in Shadyside, the son of Jules and Jean (Faber) Falck, Bob was a lifelong resident of Brookline. Bob met his future wife while attending Liberty Grade School. He attended Connelley Vocational High School and graduated from Pennsylvania College of Technology. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and upon returning home in 1960 he married Penny at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Oakland. Throughout his career, Bob worked for Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Co., The Howard P. Foley, Co., A & B Smith Co. and Sargent Electric Co. He retired from Sargent in 1998. Bob was a lifelong volunteer. For ten years he served as a youth counselor for the Greek Orthodox Youth Association, through St. Nicholas. After his children grew up and moved on to college, he turned his energy to helping prepare food for St. Nicholas' annual Food Festival, something he enjoyed immensely for many years. He was also longtime volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, both at the local and council level. In 1985, Bob received the Silver Beaver Award, presented for distinguished service to young people within a BSA local council. He also received the Prophet of Elias Award, the highest honor in Greek Orthodox scouting and the St. George Award the highest honor in Catholic scouting. After his son moved on from scouting, he continued volunteering as a Wood Badge Trainer, the advanced, national leadership training open to Scouting volunteers and professionals. In his later years, Bob enjoyed vacationing with his grandchildren, the light of his life. Friends will be received at JOHN A.
