DeFAZIO MARY JEAN (BECK) A woman who loved the Lord and her family with all her heart, was taken to her heavenly home from her earthly residence, on Monday, August 21, 2017, surrounded by her family at the age of 67. She was born in Pittsburgh on December 19, 1949, to the late Eugene and Margaret (Jackson) Beck. Currently residing in Sewickley, she was formerly of McCandless. Beloved wife of Thomas A. DeFazio; loving mother of Thomas Eugene DeFazio (Bill Beaumont), of Oakdale and Amanda DeFazio (Dean) Backeris, of Highland Park; well-loved grandmother of Evan, Max, and Austin Backeris; cherished sister of Barbara (Richard) Swaja, of Seabrook Island, SC; also, her devoted King Charles Cavalier Spaniels, Jackson, Maggie, and Sadie. Jeanne, a member of St. Stephen's Church, Lay Minister and served on the Board of Samaritan Counseling Center, was kind and loving to others. She also was a member of Trowel and Error Garden Club. For 12 years, Jeanne owned and operated of Cheers Gifts Antiques and Interiors in Sewickley. She was an illustrator for Hornes, Kaufmann's, and Marc Advertising. She was a former owner of Artist Garden in the North Hills. Jeanne was a 1967 graduate of West Mifflin North High School where she was active in the yearbook, student council, and currently planning their 50th class reunion. Jeanne had attended art class at CMU and obtained her degree from the Art Institute. Her specialty was women's clothing ads for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Jeanne, creative, an artist, and illustrator, felt her grandsons were the light of her life, such a special gift. She was one to say, “I love them – more than they love me.” Visitation Thursday 2-4, 6-9 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at COPELAND'S SEWICKLEY, 702 Beaver St., where prayers will be recited on Friday at 12:45 p.m. followed by Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m. at St. Stephen's Church, 405 Frederick Ave., Sewickley, PA 15143. Rev. Geoffrey Chapman, celebrant. Burial will be private at Sewickley Cemetery.
