For more then 20 years Gayle owned and operated Galyarms Childcare Center through which she inherited children who also called her grandma. She had a business Atopic through which she operated and owned a restaurant and catering services. She graduated from CCAC with an Associate Degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business Management. She attended many classes at Point Park University, where she was eight credits shy of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. She was on the starting committee and staff which enabled The Headstart Program to be commissioned in the Pittsburgh area, which began in 1965, she had a desire for all children to have a fighting chance for education that would develop and enhance their growth, and give them an opportunity to advance in society.
