WOSCEK IRENE Age 79, of West Deer Township, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord, Tuesday, July 25, 2017, with her family by her side. She was born in Vandergrift to the late John and Agnes (Sadecky) Svezeny. Irene grew up in Vandergrift and graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1956. After graduating she worked as a key punch operator at US Steel. Soon after that she married William and raised her family. She was devoted to her church and the rosary. In her teenage years, she was a member of the Sodality of Holy Trinity Church in Vandergrift. She was a wonderful cook who delighted in baking for her family. Her specialty was traditional Slovak food. She also enjoyed listening to the Saturday afternoon polkas. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, William Woscek of Gibsonia; her children, Martin (Lorraine) Woscek, Diane (Erik) Schultz, Paul (Juliette) Woscek, Kathleen (James) Cardellini; and her grandchildren, Danielle, Matthew, and Adam Schultz. She is also survived by her sister, Mildred Sutara, along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sister Estelle Svezeny, OSB. A private Funeral Mass was conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at St. Victors R.C. Church in Bairdford, with the Rev. James P. Holland, officiating.
