PRICE MARTIN BURTON Of Longwood at Oakmont in Verona died on April 22, 2016, after a long illness. He is survived by Mollie (Saline) Price, his beloved wife of 67 years; his daughter, Rosanne (Daniel) Stead of Pittsburgh, and sons, Charles (Betsy) of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Fredric (Ellen Wilson) of Pittsburgh; his sister, Arlene Tuttle of Louisville, Kentucky; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Martin Price was born in New York, NY on June 6, 1928, son of George J. and Libbie (Sims) Price. He attended schools in the Bronx and Yonkers, New York. He was educated at Syracuse University and received his Ph.D. in physical and organic chemistry at the University of Delaware. He had a long, successful career in research and development in the coatings and fibers industry. He was the author of many technical papers and the holder of several patents for industrial products and processes. He was the author of Polyacetals a hard-cover technical monograph published in 1970. He will be remembered for his playful spirit, his kindness and warmth. He was a problem solver, known for his wisdom breaking down difficult decisions into their component parts. He was a giving volunteer. He taught literacy to adults, and passed on his love of science to elementary students during retirement for nine years in Louisville, Kentucky and more recently at St. Edmunds Academy in Pittsburgh. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Mollie S. Price and Martin B. Price Family Fund at the Pittsburgh Foundation.
